Their dances whirred past the walls of the high rise ceilings, and the sound of the instructions Ms Martine made as they followed every movement, every idea, of the demonstration she made in front of the class. Sylvia could only focus on the movements she was making and her breathing, wanting to perfect every inch of the routine. "Okay, I think that's it for today's class." Ms Martine said, looking down at her watch. The dancers sweat beaded down their faces and necks while exhausted breathing filled the room.
"Cindy, you need to work on your toe pointing... Sylvia, work on your Pirouettes. Everyone, you know what to work on. There's going to be a huge performance soon as you all know, so you have to be on your A game, And you know that whoever gets picked for the other performance has to be EVEN better." A warm smile appeared on her face.
Pretty soon, she began dismissing the class and Sylvia began walking out of the classroom into one of the long hallways. The familiar smell of the building filled the air, smells of rust covered in air freshener. The smell of an old building. She started walking down the hallway, knowing that she would go to the coffee shop and wait for Anais. When she got outside, sunlight beamed down on her skin, coating her skin in familiar warmth. She smoothed down her tight bun and began walking again.
She sat down on a bench near the street, waiting for Anais, so that she could walk with her to the coffee shop. While sitting down, she started playing with the silver ring on her finger and thought of her mother and how she had passed it down to her. Her finger trailed over the cracks and rust on the silver that showed the generations it had come down from. She didn't know her grandmother well but figured she would be proud of how far she has come. How she is as ambitious as her mother.
She didn't notice Anais walking fast towards her, she didn't notice her widened eyes and sweaty skin. She didn't notice it until her face snapped up from feeling the gust of wind from someone rushing towards her and seeing someones shoes in front of her.
She looked up to see Anais, and the sight of her made Sylvia's eyes widen. "Anais, what's wrong?" She asked. She looked like she had seen a ghost.
"I'm.... I saw something...." Her mouth barely moved, it was just contorted into horror. Sylvia stood up immediately.
"I saw... A... They were dancing.." Her eyes continued to stare into space, widened.
"Who was dancing? What are you talking about?"
Anais blinked when Sylvia shook her shoulder.
"Anais..." Sylvia's said, her eyes widening even more.
"They were just... Dancing..." All Sylvia could do was look at her friend who was staring into the distance as if she was still seeing whatever she saw.
"Come on, lets go to your house."
She turned her around and they began walking down the street in a quick pace. Sylvia tried to get more answers out of Anais but she didn't seem to want to talk about it anymore. As they continued walking, she seemed to get back into a more normal state, but she still seemed afraid. Her body was tense and Sylvia didnt know what was wrong with her friend. And she didn't know if she wanted to know what she had seen.
A few hours later, Sylvia sat in her bedroom looking at the ceiling and playing with the necklace around her neck. She wondered why so many weird things were happening. First, the disappearances happening at the school and now how Anais was acting. She wondered if maybe something was in the water at the school or maybe her mind was playing tricks on her. Then she thought about what Anna said about how creepy the school is. What everyone says. Maybe Anna was right. Maybe the school was actually haunted or something. As Sylvia drifted off to sleep she wondered what the day would bring tomorrow.
Beneath the surface of a prestigious ballet institution, there lurks a dark and mysterious presence that threatens to destroy everything. Desperate to uncover the truth and protect their fellow dancers, a group of students band together to investigate the strange occurrences.
