POV:Kayda
“Yes” I replied “and burned the whole kingdom of Celestia down”
“Well, our powers should have some kind of restraint to it.” Ayami said
Our. This time the ‘our’ feels burdensome.
“Well, I am saved in that case I guess” I sighed
“No, you are not” she protested
“What do you mean” I asked confused
“You do have a magic.” She spoke
“I thought grandma said your powers were illusion not foreseeing” I joked
“It is illusion” she said
I looked at her confused
“I don’t feel bad because I don’t have powers, you don’t have to feel bad either” I said.
It was common for people to be amazed that one of the offsprings of the royal family of Celestia didn’t have any power.
I was named after the daughter of King Arbell, second last ruler of Kingdom Celestia.
The history tells that princess Kayda went against the king’s orders and killed him by joining hands with kingdom Eldora who was at war with them at that time.
“No, I don’t feel bad” she insisted “I know that you have a power, we could wait and see. My intuition has never gone wrong” she said with a proud smile in her face
“We will see about that” I smirked
The birds on the tree started chirping as vines of the tree danced with rhythm to the cold breeze
“Why did your parents name you Kayda?” She broke the silence
“it’s surprising that you are the first one to ask me that” I blurted
She smiled.
“My mom saw a dream while she was conceiving me. In that dream, one of our ancestral dragons, the dragon that is said to wield fire told her to name the child Kayda, pretty weird incident” I explained
Ayami listened with an expression like that of a little kid listening to a story as curious questions floats through her mind.
“What’s on your mind? Spill” I spoke as I held a proud face
“Woah. Was it obvious?”
“No, I am just good at reading peoples mind” I smirked
“Why is it weird?”
“Why wouldn’t it be? I mean, named after a princess who rebelled against her father went as far as to kill him then ran away with the help of some rogues, only to burn down her own kingdom at last and then a dragon comes to my mother’s dream and tell her to name me after her, I don’t know sounds pretty weird to me” I explained
“Do you believe that story?” She asked
That struck a chord in me.
“No” I gulped
I don’t know if she will hate me for that, someone who knows the stories, except the royal family, would obviously hate princess Kayda, but I don’t trust the stories entirely, people wrote the story based on what they heard and saw, not according to what actually happened.
“Neither do I” she assured
Oh…...
“Why?” I asked curiosity brimming in me.
“I don’t know why, but mom always said that this story goes beyond the history written.” She explained
“That’s what my mom said too” I replied as we shared a look of confusion
“You know what’s weird?” she continued “the fact that I am named Ayami while you are named Kayda”
“You are right” I gave her a nod with confusion spiralling my head
Ayami was the name of princess Kayda’s step sister, weirder when we know that the King Arnell married the queen’s elder sister short after the queen’s death.
“And also, that my parents came up with my name the same way your parents did.”
I looked at her even more puzzled
“What do you mean?” I asked
“My mom saw a dream when she conceived me, where a dragon, specifically, dragon with the soul of reality, asked her to name the child Ayami” she explained
“Well, everything we both just said sounds weird” I sighed
“But it feels nice to have someone to share thoughts with at my favourite place” I continued “ah no. our favourite place”
We both smiled
“Ah I forgot” I gasped
“Grandma said we have ritual this coming Friday, she didn’t tell me anything much, but you guys are going to stay here until that.”
“We have 4 days including today until the ritual, I would have cried if I heard the news before I met you because it felt so weird being here.”
“But now it feels good to know we get to have some time together” she grinned
“It feels good to me too, to get a sister.” I smiled
Why does this feel so familiar like I have talked to her like this before?
