Merial POV
“Mana obviously follows its own rules as compared to matter. The elements of mana are a bit different from your thoughts about them however, water mana isn’t actually about water. Its about liquids and laminar flow. Earth is about solids, forces and vibrations. Wind is about gases, air pressure and turbulent flow. Then fire is about chemical reactions, and energy.” Khaos continued.
“So what about ice?” i asked
“That would go under the earth element.” Khaos answered
“And lava?”
“That would be the water element.” Khaos again answered
“But ice is made of water, wouldn’t that mean it falls under the water element?” I questioned.
“I understand why you would think that but that misunderstanding more comes from how the humans named it, and also ice is just another stone. So why would it be treated any differently?”
“Ice isn’t a stone?” I interjected.
“How not? Isn’t the definition of a stone a solid non metallic material with minerals? Water naturally has minerals dissolved in them, so when it turns to ice it's just a stone. Even then water is a mineral in of itself” Khaos questioned though confidently acting as if he was right.
I couldn’t argue with his logic however, but yeah that did make sense chemically. It just feels wrong, I want to say he is wrong but just can’t.
“That's all nice to know but how do you actually turn that into magic or whatever you all do?” I asked.
“Well yeah it's a good time to explain that, but again more background information is needed. First most living things have a soul, which then radiates your own unique will. Your will is more than just a figure of speech, it actually affects aether and by extension mana. You have a soul yourself, which is how you will learn to use mana, along with the fact that your body is a perfect conductor of mana. You will have an advantage.” Khaos said, continuing his rant.
So the soul actually does exist. Well considering what kind of universe i’m in right now it makes sense.
“Cool but again, don't explain how to do it.” I emphasised.
“As with most things it takes knowledge and practice, but try to hone in on that feeling you felt while touching that conductor. Obviously you won’t get it instantly, even if we need to get our bodies in order first, our bodies currently wouldn’t be able to handle much mana use at all, let alone aether.” Khaos answered
Khaos suddenly seemed to remember one of his previous trains of thought and said “I should probably tell you about aether too, aether is the will of the world. It controls all laws of the universe and with it you can control space, time and even aspects you wouldn’t expect to be able to, though it is hard to do and very taxing.”
“Wait you said ‘will of the world’ but you said earlier that a will comes from the soul so does that mean-” i questioned.
“Ofcourse, the universe is alive. While saying it has its own thoughts would be wrong it does have its own wants and needs, though these are very different from yours and mine. It opposes things it dislikes and helps you do things it likes, even rewards you in ways. It is actually a type of god in itself, though only by technicality.”
“You also mentioned how your body was weak, why would those people give you a weak body?” i asked Khaos
“Mainly just the resources it would take and the increased effort needed, you see this body had a soul in it before I was implanted. And that soul created resistance, which they would have to solve unless they got a weak soul which wouldn’t have those problems. And with a weak soul normally comes a weak body.”
“So they killed someone to reincarnate you?”
“Yes, they killed thousands more even before that though. To transmigrate you over here they killed thousands, they weren’t evil in of themselves but they were forced. Most of the people who died were their own fellow researchers.” Khaos said without even seeming a little sad about it
They killed thousands to bring me here? Holy shit!
“Oh and by the way they didn’t reincarnate me, it was just an incarnation as I am a god and cannot die, therefore cannot be reborn.” Khaos corrected, seeming to completely ignore the bombshell of guilt he just hit me with.
