Moonpaw woke with a gasp, only just managing to stop herself from yelling “Rushpaw!” very loudly. She looked around the apprentice den to see all the other appretices still sleeping peacefully, except for Specklepaw. He was sitting up and looking around, as if he’d just seen a flying hedgehog. “Moonpaw? Are you awake? Can i talk to you about the dream i had?” he whispered. For Starclan’s sake, Specklepaw, i don’t have time to hear about the stupid dream you had... But her thoughts were interrupted by Specklepaw, who apparently wasn’t finished. “i- i think it was a dream from Starclan...” Moonpaw widened her eyes as he said the words. He seemed to notice her reaction, and quickly said: “o- or maybe i just ate too much freshkill...” the nervousness in his voice made Moonpaw reply even faster. “no! I had a weird dream too! That's why im awake! We’re the chosen ones, Specklepaw!” Specklepaw brightened, but narrowed his eyes. “are you sure? What if the other apprentices from the other clans don’t show up? What if we-...” but he was interrupted by Moonpaw, her expression enthusiastic. “No. Specklepaw, we have to do this! Half moon is... ...tomorrow night! We have to come, and if the others dont, we will go back! Problem solved, right?” Specklepaw shrugged and replied: “okay, that might do. But for now, we go back to sleep. We cant risk waking up the other apprentices!” he mewed confidently. Moonpaw and Specklepaw turned around and padded side by side, pelts brushing, back into the den. Moonpaw settled down in her comfy den, closed her eyes, and sleep rushed over her.
