No More Procrastination! This Fictional Hero Demands His Story To Be Written

How The Hero Hunted The Author That Created Him

How The Hero Hunted The Author That Created Him

Apr 21, 2024

There was a library in another realm called The Library of Unwritten Books. It was a majestic place where time did not seem to pass. Within that realm was a set of bookshelves made from glass. Each was high as if reaching for the blue sky. And the books kept seemed pristine despite their old age. It was because they had their designated spirits to maintain their organized state.

At the center of that high-ceilinged library room, something glows and floats near Aiglentine. The spirit seemed like a young woman with a gentle expression. But her age goes beyond centuries.

Aiglentine is among the spirits who have the seal of the library. When she touched the seal, she placed it on the cover of an old book. A bright light appears from within the book. The light then reveals a young prince.

His golden blonde hair is immaculate despite its length. It is tied and placed on the side of his neck.

When he opened his blue eyes, the prince seemed to be awakening from a deep slumber. But he looked at Aiglentine and expected to see her.

"Prince Valentin. As you know, we will take away some books from this library every five years. Your story remained untouched. Your creator has chosen a different path and is no longer a creative soul. Therefore, this would be our last meeting."

"How was she?" the prince asked Aiglentine while recalling the last session with the spirit.

It no longer mattered to him if his existence would perish. He had accepted his fate.

"You may still see her life for the past year."

As soon as every year ends, the spirits meet the main characters by letting them out from inside the book to give a run-through regarding their creators. The spirits were only allowed to do it within a given timeframe. No more. No less.

Aiglentine left the floating seal on top of the open book. It was like a key to any door. It could take anyone out of a book and put anyone in it if needed. It can also make the holder of the seal travel to any world they know of.

With a wave of her other hand, a magical screen appeared out of thin air and showed them the monthly life of his creator. It was like watching a short film. There was a solemn look on his face as the prince stared at the screen.

And then he saw what was happening during the middle of the year. And the month that follows, then another, and another.

"What the hell?!"

"Language, please," the spirit said to him while looking a bit guilty.

She already saw those memories. The spirit was unsure if she should also show it to Valentin. But she could not hide it from him. It was part of her responsibility to show the characters the truth.

"What is that b**** doing with her life?!"

"Well... she seemed better than the last time."

"What do you mean she's better?! Is it better to sleep with every man she can get her hands on?!!!"

"Relax. Your creator is an adult. And she was having fun with her dates."

The screen continues to show them some explicit scenes.

"Fun?! Is that fun?"

The spirit needs to back away from the prince, knowing it is not best to add insult to his injuries. She sat in her chair and placed her arms on its armrest. She waited for the prince to stop watching the memories of his creator. But his eyes seemed to be stuck with it.

She would have laughed at him if it would not insult him. He acted like what he was seeing was a horror movie. He even covered his face as he yelped. But he forgot to include his eyes, so his gesture did not stop preventing any further torture he placed upon himself.

Valentin may be a character from a royal family, but his voice and temper can be as loud as a delinquent.

"She even—" he gasped before he growled. "She even dared date that loser guy from her office? Oh, she deserves to die by my hands and go straight to hell," he said with a threatening voice before he saw something again. "Ahh!—"

The prince saw another batch of memories. This time during the Christmas season. There was a party at a bar, and his creator came wearing a sexy Santa costume that she only revealed once she was outside the big box she was hiding in. The big box has a gift wrapper with a red ribbon. It was a cute and sexy moment. The costume showed too much skin but was not too revealing. But, of course, given how conservative he is, Valentin would see it otherwise.

"If she had all that time to fool with anyone, why couldn't she write at least one paragraph?!" he asked through gritted teeth.

"Now, now, Valentin. Calm yourself down. It would not help if you get mad at her."

How she wished her hands waving at him could fan out his stress. But it did not. Prince Valentin is fuming and ready to punch someone—specifically his creator.

Not that Aiglentine could blame him. His creator ignored him for five years straight. Five years may seem like a short time for some beings. But for them, it was long enough to make a decision.

As years passed, more and more books piled into their realm. They have to make some space, or it will be too much for them to handle.

Usually, writers would at least finish their work in progress or WIP. Little by little, they would write and finish a manuscript. It does not matter if it would take a decade or more to finish writing a story. Or if it remained unpublished. Most writers were prolific and hardworking then.

However, once writers abandoned their work, it would appear in their realm as an unwritten book. Some had a few chapters, others a few paragraphs enough for them to meet the character like Prince Valentin.

"Val, listen to me," she speaks informally to get back his attention. "There is nothing I can do after this last session."

"Of course, I know that! But can't you just let me punch her lights out just once before you do that?"

"It is possible."

His anger vanished.

"Huh? Really? But you just said..."

That seemed to get his full attention.

"But it was not allowed here," Aiglentine clarified.

Prince Valentin looked at her as if trying to get her meaning.

Then he looked at the glowing seal still floating on the open book. Prince Valentin knew about it and its powers. He was a prince who was always curious about everything.

Auglentine treated all the characters she met as friends. She would speak to them as if they were keeping in touch with one another.

As soon as the spirits meet the characters, the characters will learn about how the realm works and why the characters must leave the library after five years.

The disposal of books was also part of their tasks as the spirits from that realm. And both of them know it.

Prince Valentin made a decision.

He ran towards Aiglentine and snatched the floating seal along with the book. Then, the prince ran towards the magical screen, placed the seal before it, and jumped as the white light appeared. The prince vanishes along with the book he was holding.

"Aiglentine! Wha—Why did you let him escape?" another female spirit yelled after witnessing the scene.

"Calm down. Valentin is harmless."

"Did you not hear that he threatens to kill his creator? Have you forgotten how one of the serial killer character escaped a month ago and murdered his creator in his sleep?"

"That incident was beyond our control. Besides, that character perished the moment the character killed someone."

And so, there was no evidence found.

"Are you saying we should just let these characters escape then?"

"No," Aiglentine replied as if she was bored.

She placed her cheek on her hand as she sat on her chair.

"I only wanted the characters to have the opportunity to meet their creators. We are not savages. Even prisoners in the human world were allowed to meet with their relatives."

"Yes, but they are not prisoners here," the other spirit replied as she stared at Aiglentine.

"Aren't they?"

For a while now, Aiglentine could not help but feel that their situation was similar to how wardens guarded each cell assigned to them.

"Nothing good would come out from this," the spirit commented while shaking her head. "Even if they did meet in the human world, a character could never force their creator to do anything they prefer."

Aiglentine smiled as she thought of Valentin and how determined he was.

"We'll see."
