Aiden shook his head and quickly adjusted his expression. "Really, did she?" he asked, trying to process the unexpected news.
Raven simply nodded in confirmation.
Suddenly, Aiden angrily hit his father on the shoulder. "Why did you allow her to do that, Daddy? Men should be the one to propose to the lady," he exclaimed, his frustration evident.
Raven blinked in surprise, wondering where his son had learned such nonsense.
Somewhere far away, Alex sneezed in his sleep.
"What do you want me to do now?" Raven asked his son.
"When are you going to marry her?" Aiden inquired, his eyes widening with concern.
"Tomorrow," Raven replied matter-of-factly.
Aiden's eyes widened in shock. "That's soon,"
Raven raised an eyebrow. "Should I tell her to postpone it?" he asked.
Aiden immediately shook his head in denial. "What if she changes her mind and refuses to marry you? Then all my acting skills will go in vain," he exclaimed.
"Relax, we are only going to register our marriage tomorrow. The wedding will be held later," Raven reassured him.
"Hmm, then that's fine. I'll plan something later," Aiden replied, his giggles filling the room as he hugged his father's neck tightly.
"Daddy, I'm going to have a mother!" Aiden exclaimed with joy, his laughter echoing off the walls.
Raven chuckled and patted his little butt. Aiden was happy so he didn't mind his father's unruly act at all and allowed him to pat his precious butt a few more times.
After applying medicine to his son's wound, Raven tucked him into bed and bid him goodnight. Exiting the room, he made his way to his own bedroom and took a shower. Wrapping himself in a bath towel, he moved to his wardrobe to retrieve a fresh towel to dry his hair.
His eyes fell upon a familiar white box tucked away in the corner of the wardrobe. Hesitating for a moment, he reached for the box and opened it, revealing a stunning pink diamond ring with a silver band nestled inside.
His rough fingers caressed the surface of the ring, his gaze lingering on it with mysterious emotions swirling in his eyes. With a deep sigh, he placed the ring back inside the box and closed it shut.
"It's time to get rid of you," he muttered quietly, giving one last look at the box before tossing it into the nearby bin.
He knew, holding onto the past will lead him nowhere. He is a father now and wants the best for his son. Siren may not be the best choice but he knows she loves his son very much which she concealed under her cold and calm eyes.
He could see it in the way she looked at his son, as though he was the light in her otherwise dark world, much like himself. It was a subtle connection, a silent understanding that transcended words—a recognition of shared purpose and unconditional love for Aiden.
In that gaze, Raven found a glimmer of hope, a reassurance that perhaps, despite their differences, they could find common ground in their mutual love to his son.
As morning arrived, Raven and Aiden finished their breakfast and headed to the shed. Aiden insisted on accompanying his father and had taken a leave from school, in the name of healing from injury.
When they arrived at the entrance of the shed, they saw a shiny black car parked at the front. Raven frowned, already guessing the owner of the car and released a helpless sigh. Aiden unbuckled from the seat and dashed towards the lobby.
Inside, he found his grandfather seated on the couch and greeted him respectfully, "Great grandpa."
Conan smiled warmly at his great-grandson and motioned for him to take a seat. "My good boy, how are you feeling now?" he inquired, already aware of the incident at school from his informant.
While he understood that his grandson should handle the matter, he had taken his own steps, cutting off twenty percent of his funding to the Imperial Academy.
"I'm feeling better now," Aiden replied, turning to see Alex emerging from the workshop.
"Grandpa!" Aiden called out loudly as he jumped down from the couch and ran towards Alex, wrapping his arms around his leg.
Alex couldn't help but melt at the adorable sight of his favorite little boy hugging his leg. He lifted Aiden up into his arms, turning to smirk at Conan.
"See, now I'm his favorite grandfather."
Conan scowled in response but didn't bother engaging in an argument. Instead, he watched as his grandson entered the shed and made his way towards him with the aid of his wooden cane.
"Grandfather" Raven greeted him and bowed to him slightly. He respects his grandfather the most. He was the one who took care of him after his parents passed away.
Conan looked at the man standing before him, noting how he had grown into a powerful and respectable individual. Memories flooded back to the day when he had held Raven in his arms as a child, his little fingers grasping tightly as he giggled, unaware of his parents' death.
Returning to the present, Conan patted Raven's shoulder, "Congrats,"
Raven nodded in acknowledgment, refraining from questioning how his grandfather had learned of the marriage. He knew despite handing over control to him, Conan still has his own power and network of connections.
He then turned to greet Alex who greeted him back with a cold face. His reluctance in marrying his daughter to him was evident in his face.
As they conversed amongst themselves, the sound of a motorcycle approaching caught their attention. They all turned to see Siren dismounting from the bike, removing her helmet. Everyone was shocked at her attire. Alex rubbed his eyes twice to see that he is not imagining things.
Raven couldn't help but grinned at her
