"Did I do something weird? Rurika."
"No, that kid is acting weird." Rurika crossed her arms over her chest and shrugged.
Rurika took a look at Issac, she said with a smirk, "Maybe you scared him?"
"I don't think so, but he does resist my friendly approach." Issac thought of Rurika's words seriously and tried to comprehend what was happening between him and Elio.
"Ew...Don't make everything about you, narcissistic. I guess Mio said something to him and forced him to leave the project. Since day one Mio has already done this move, I don't that boy would shrink back easily."
"I thought you would be the first one to raise hands to support Mio kick him out."
"I do want to throw out people who want to harm Mio, I can't be her number one mentee how could that fluffy boy have such great honor? You know I love her more than anyone, but...maybe Elio could be the key."
"The key, is to stop her self-destructive behaviors?"
Issac's words unveil Rurika's concern, she doesn't want to anyone find out about the problem with Mio. They are fully aware Mentor-Mentee project is a part of their responsibility, but Mio has been avoiding it for years. The member of the board keep judging about her disobedience, if Mio isn't their brand, she might be thrown into a more dangerous position.
But ironically, before they fed up with Mio's attitude, Mio might finish her mission while finding an excuse to end her life. Her desire for death is hopelessly higher than anyone.
"If I have a chance to meet Professor Edmund, I wish I could kill him with my hands. He is the reason why Mio lives like a living dead." Rurika knew her thought was ridiculous, no one could bring the dead to life.
"Huh...I think Mio is the only one who can take your suffocating love. Just give Elio some time, he needs to know what was happening." Issac rugged his hair dejectedly, Issac patted Rurika's shoulder and said, "Get some rest, we are still on a mission."
For the following days, they work as an official member of Goldberg, Mio spends most of their time beside Mrs.Goldberg, even in an inner meeting that only allows core members.
Goldberg allowed the newest bodyguard escort her to anywhere, but when they arrived at her mansion, Goldberg wanted to ask them to disappear. Mio knew she was in her daughter's bedroom, they had lived in this mansion for more than a week, but they never met Goldberg's daughter once.
"Rose, I have to finish my weekly report, Master asked us to bring her dinner to Miss Iris's room."
Since the first day, Rurika earned the maid leader's trust perfectly, this is the biggest chance for Rurika to check that young lady.
"No problem. But am I the only one wondering why Master preferred a real person instead of the robot to do the homework?" Rurika put on her innocent's mask, she acted like a young lady with no harm.
"One of the reasons is Master Goldberg is a member of the human support committee. We know robots cost less money than hiring a helper, but Master Bronwn loved to talk with humans, he said robots and AI could be helpful, but he didn't want them to take the chance from humans." The maid leader's eyes soften while she talks about her former master.
"He sounds like a kind person."
The maid leader's words do fit the report that Rurika had seen before she came to this mansion.
"He did. Do I satisfy your little curiosity?"
"Of course, I will bring the dinner to our master immediately."
Rurika took the cart from her, she got the key card to Iris's house.
"Mio!"
What a lucky surprise for Rurika to see Mio standing at the gate of Iris's house, she tried to lower her voice but from the excited face, Mio couldn't hold her poker face anymore. Mio comforted Rurika's tension with her hand, "Haven't seen you for a while, you still look great with this maid outfit."
"That's all because my face is too lovely, I will send you my maid pictures later! I have to bring dinner to Goldberg." Rurika feels a little pity that she can't keep her conversation with Mio, the place wasn't good, and people might find out they knew each other before they joined Goldberg.
Even though they talked with casual tone, Mio still working on her bodyguard duties, she checked the cart and confirmed the key. After a brief talking with Mio, Rurika used her card and tried to enter the house.
"Boom-----!"
Suddenly an explosion happens in Iris's house.
Mio took Rurika's card run into the house, she saw Goldberg being grabbed by some mobs, and when she saw Mio standing in front of those people, Goldberg tent to help Mio, but her hands were bonded by soft metal.
"Don't make me laugh, did you think this chic can help you? Choose someone better than her."
"Aw--!"
"Now who is better?"
That man who provoked her lies on the ground, one of them finds Mio isn't easy to fight, so he grabs Goldberg out of the house.
"Stay back, or we will kill her."
A calm scoundrel blocked Mio's way, and then they heard a scream from outside, Mio noticed that sound weakened their attention, so she ran toward and stole the gun from one of them, her smooth movement leaving a blur, they tried to scratch her with a blade, but she move like a ghost, the last second she still over your head, the next second, their sight were on the ground.
Before they can comprehend the whole situation, their heads are apart from their body. Blood squirted out from the neck, a human fountain was bowed on the floor, and a great disparity in strength and the greatest fear woke the alarm bell from their heart.
They wanted to stall for time, and Mio didn't give this chance to them, her strong aura should terrify them, but still, a few people dared to shoot her.
Gunshot in a great rhythm, step by step, they were dancing in the bullet rain, as the finale of this farce, all of them rested on the floor, and Rurika held their client standing at the gate.
Rurika throws a ball to the ceiling and it turns into a black hole vacuuming all these dead bodies in a few seconds, and it shrinks back to its former form, the main hall as clean as before they entered.
Wait until Rurika finished the cleaning job, Mio asked, "How was she?"
"Don't worry, she's fine. But I think we have to talk with our younger client."
Rurika lifted her chin and pointed a direction to Mio, a young girl covered with purple marks hidden behind the door. She was surprised by what she saw, and bodies covered with blood are definitely not a good scene for someone at a young age.
Mio didn't know what to say to comfort that little girl, Rurika lifted Goldberg and walked toward her, "Can I put her on your coach?"
"Yes...please don't hurt my mommy..."
"Young master, we won't hurt our master, please trust us."
Rurika put Goldberg on the coach, Iris, the child of Goldberg, was watching the whole time, and when Rurika stepped back, she finally dared to approach her mother, but she didn't touch her mother. Mio noticed her purple skin wasn't caused by a physical attack, marks were blooming on different skin parts and some of the colors were lighter, and some of them were stronger.
"Did it hurt?" Mio asked her.
Iris shook her head, and she replied, "But I don't know is it contagious, please don't touch my skin. Thank you for saving my mother..."
"It's my duty to protect her. You seem quite used to these situations."
"It wasn't the first time, I know she was meeting bad people and wanted to help me, but they didn't truly want to help us. I know they have other intentions, since my father died, they no longer hide."
The mental age of Iris clearly older than her appearance, she is more like a teenager trapped in a little girl's body. From the record Nuée provided, Iris's age is 7, and her skin disease wasn't written in the record after her father died, this one year seems to be a key to why she was infected.
Mio made a sight at Rurika, and she nodded, one small bee flew from Rurika's fingers, and a string of lines reflex to Iris's eyes, and she temporarily froze.
"Ah...Iris! Are you okay?!" Goldberg woke up from her brief coma, and the first thing she confirmed was her daughter's safety. She wanted to hug her precious daughter, and her voice brought Iris's mind back, when she saw her mother wake up, she stepped back.
