Dead Man's card

Mother’s arrival

Mother’s arrival

Apr 26, 2024

Jonathan was angered by his wife's response. No wonder their son was spouting nonsense these days. It appeared that his wife was the one instilling such ideas in their son.

Without hesitation, he landed a loud slap on his wife. Eleanor was completely taken aback. Shocking was an understatement. Never in their five years together had he laid a hand on her. He was usually a patient man, always abiding by her wishes.

"You... slapped me!" her tone was incredulous.

"Be glad I didn't kill you yet!" he shouted back at her.

"Tomorrow, we're going to the academy, and you're going to apologize to that boy," Jonathan pointed accusingly at his son before storming out of the hall in anger.

Jason cowered in fear at the sight of his father's angry demeanor. Seeing his mother being beaten, he nodded obediently in response to his father's command.

"You may realize the mistake, but I'm not sure your son does," Raven's voice cut through the heavy silence, carrying a weight of seriousness.

Upon hearing that Jonathan slapped the back of his son’s head and forced him to kneel before Raven. Jonathan knelt beside his son and begged for mercy, saying, "We are truly sorry, Mr. Grey. I will make sure to teach him a lesson."

Eleanor gritted her teeth at her husband's submission. She felt ashamed of his actions but remained silent as he had warned her to keep her mouth shut.

Raven had already noticed the swelling on the boy's cheek, but he wasn't satisfied with just that.

"I will instruct Stellar to proceed with your project. As for your son..." he rose from his chair and approached them, looking down at them.

"He will be expelled from the Imperial Academy."

Jonathan's joy at hearing about the continuation of his project cooperation was short-lived as he listened to the rest of Raven's words. He knew it was the least mercy he could expect from him. At least his hard work wouldn't go to waste.

However, regarding his son, he could only be able to secure admission to a local school. No prestigious institution would accept him once they learned he had been expelled from the Imperial Academy.

"Thank you, Mr. Grey," he once again kowtowed to him.

Eleanor, who had stood silently by the side until now, burst with anger upon hearing that her son would be expelled from school. She couldn't control her emotions knowing her son's life would be ruined if that happened.

"Why should my son be the one to be expelled?" she questioned Raven, her eyes red with fury.

"My son did nothing wrong. It was your son who initiated the fight first. If anyone should be expelled, it should be your son," she continued, accusing Aiden.

Raven turned to meet her gaze with a dark expression on his face. "I'm sure you've already heard from the academy who is responsible for the fight. Your son said something he shouldn't have. Be glad that I only expelled him from this academy," he warned her sternly.

Eleanor felt fear coursing through her, but she didn't back down, knowing her son's future was at stake.

"It's true that your son has no mother. My son just stated the truth. What's wrong with that?" she retorted.

Chills ran down everyone's spine in the room as they sensed the murderous aura emanating from Raven. The director couldn't help but feel that the woman was being foolish by speaking so recklessly. She should consider herself lucky that her son's head was still intact despite him injuring the young master of the Grey family.

Because of this dispute he even lost twenty percent of funds from Grey’s family.

Jonathan couldn’t help but curse his wife in his heart. Did she plan to ruin him completely? Before he could move forward to stop her from saying anything further, a sturdy voice sounded from behind them.

"Who said he has no mother?"

Everyone turned towards the source of the voice, and a woman entered the room. She was dressed in a black belted crop blazer paired with a black bodycon dress that reached her mid-thigh, accentuating her slender, long legs. Her dark midnight hair was tied in a high ponytail with curls at the end cascading down to her waist. She wore brown sunglasses, adding to her classy look.

Aiden's eyes widened as he rushed towards her and hugged her legs, shouting in joy, "Mommy!"

Siren looked down at the little figure clinging to her legs, unable to resist a rare warmth spreading through her heart. She ruffled his hair before bringing him to the Raven’s side, who observed her with amusement in his eyes.

Siren removed her sunglasses, revealing her striking electric blue eyes as she looked directly at him. He smirked and approached her, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her closer to him.

"Meet Mrs. Siren Grey", he introduced her to the people in the room.

The people in the office were utterly shocked as they beheld the sight of the three individuals standing together, resembling a family portrait. Their appearances surpassed the ordinary, leaving everyone in awe. While they had heard about the new addition to the Grey family, seeing her in person felt surreal.

Raven Grey was a man known to be unapproachable, making the idea of him falling in love at first sight nearly unbelievable. However, when the press and media released a series of photos showing the couple looking at each other affectionately, doubts began to waver.

Nonetheless, there were still many people waiting for Mr. Grey came forward and explained the situation clearly, insisting that the news was merely a rumor.

Now, they couldn't help but believe the truth. They were curious about the woman who had captured the hearts of both masters of the Grey family. Seeing her in person, they couldn't help but feel she is indeed beautiful.

In the dim, desolate confines of an abandoned subway, a man stumbled, his grasp unsteady on a half-empty bottle of alcohol. His once-groomed appearance now betrayed by overgrown stubble and disheveled hair, his bloodshot eyes bore the weight of endless tears.

As he faltered, a jagged stone sliced across his forehead, drawing a trickle of blood. Yet, the physical pain paled in comparison to the anguish gripping his heart.

Slumping against the cold, graffiti-stained walls, he gazed vacantly at the oppressive sky, tears silently tracing down his cheeks. With a heavy heart, he shut his eyes, only for fresh waves of despair to wrench anguished sobs from his chest. In a fit of anguish, he hurled the bottle, shattering it against the unforgiving concrete, mirroring the shattered pieces of his soul.

A piercing scream shattered the silence, jolting him from his desolation. Instinctively, he stumbled toward the source, his vision blurred by the enveloping darkness. Guided by the cries, he pressed forward, his steps faltering but resolute.

Each scream pierced the air like a dagger, leading him to a decrepit shed at the end of the subway. With a door already splintered, he entered, his gaze sweeping over the rusty remnants of forgotten machinery and discarded debris.

A sickening squelch beneath his shoe drew his attention downward, revealing a pool of crimson staining the ground. His breath hitched, dread coursing through his veins as he followed the macabre trail, his heart pounding in his ears.

And then, he beheld the horror before him, a scene so grotesque it froze him in terror.

He retreated back with eyes full of fear before asking, "Wh... wh... what are you doing?".

"Please… help me."
