"The Undead King? What does he have to do with this?"
Raising an eyebrow, Aria looked towards Leon with confusion and looked back towards the notes scribbled besides the map. Reviewing where she sees the spotches of ink moving slowly, she begins to see a similar pattern in the way they move.
On the map where there should be the frontier city, it appeared as a grasslands that spawled out until it reached the mountains on the west and the swamplands to the east. North of the grasslands displayed woodlands, home of the Wood Elves while south was a port city that still existed today.
"The undead army that borders the frontier city to the west has been a plague to the city for generations. If this map could show the locations of where the undead army was and the size of it, then a large scale subjugation request could be put in order!"
Aria looked up to catch Leon's eyes for confirmation.
"That does sound plausible but something still bugs me."
"And what would that be?"
With a questioning gaze, and putting his hand over his mouth he asked,
"You said you saw three splotches of ink right? Where are the other two besides the one west of the city?"
"Northwest and southwest of the city. Why?"
'North and Southwest of the city? Did some of the undead army split off from the main unit? But why? With the adventurers culling the army everyday there should be no reason to split the army so why? Are they searching for something?'
Leon looked towards the runes and stared at them, seemingly bothered. Then with a slow realization, which quickly turned to panic, he hurriedly told Aria his findings.
"We need to head North into Elven territory immediately!"
"What? Why? That goes against the treaty the city made with the elves though?"
Aria, seeing Leon almost bordering on madness, seemed quite confused at the situation as he quickly stormed out of the tavern. Seeing this, she immediately got up and gave chase after him to stop him. Flurries of thought's coming to her mind as she wondered what could be going on inside of the archer's head.
With steady and long strides, Leon made his way to the city gates. His eyes filled with a sense of urgency as he rushed his way through the many crowds. Aria, following closely behind tried to gleam information from Leon as she tried to keep up.
Although not as dexterous as Leon when weaving through the crowds, she managed to keep up by shoving those in her way, albeit a bit roughly.
After getting through the gate, Leon and Aria made their way towards the elven forest.
After what seems to be a grueling day of traveling, the two arrive at the traces of a campsite. Just at the edges of the Elven forest. The camp site looks to be abandoned, as if it was left in a hurry.
Erratic footprints cover the area but they aren't the footprints that Leon isn't quite used to seeing. These footprints were hoofed and was sunk deep into the ground. Whatever it was, it was quite heavy.
"Whatever came through here looks like they in a hurry. We need to hurry if we are to find the source of the problem."
"Speaking of which", Aria voiced in with concern, "Why exactly are you so worked up about what happens in the Elve's forests?
Leon pondered upon the answer as he stayed alert to his surroundings.
"Well there's nothing to prove it but... there might be a possibility that the undead army will attack the elves.
Leon and Aria investigate the camp further but was in vain. However, since they were in unfamiliar terrain, they couldn't find any more traces besides a few tracks that led deeper into the forest.
The story takes place in a fantasy, filled with swords and magic.
As dangerous beings of the world roam about,
so do the shadows who consume those who shout.
As the veil between worlds begin to stir,
the line between fiction and reality will begin to blur.
As the heros fight to live another night,
the world must go another day with its unseemly blight.
The child in his dreams will one day see,
many companions who will one day fall not just two or three.
For the shadows will not let it be.
The word of the Prince he has decreed,
To end this endless shadow's greed.
His people and innocents shall not be his feed
Alas the Prince's word fell on deaf ears,
as his companions became his worst fears.
The prince who once brought laughter with tears,
now brings destruction and people's jeers.
So She begs upon our heros for their power.
Whether she be sweet or sour.
In the end of a wilting flower,
It shall be their darkest hour.
