“Thank you for the coffee, Miya.” Teruko grasps at the mug that was just placed in front of her by Miya. “Of course Miss Saturnine!” Teruko shivers at the thought of being called by her last name. “I told you Miya you can just call me Teruko. I’m not a big fan of that formal stuff.” Miya bows repeatedly to apologize. “So sorry Miss Saturnine! Oh I mean-” “It’s okay. You don't have to apologize.” Miya continues to bow and profusely apologize while exiting Teruko’s office.
“So give me an update on our progress so far Ginya.” Teruko takes a sip of her freshly made coffee. Ginya places a stack of documents on Teruko’s desk and proceeds to type away on his computer as he speaks. “Miss Saturnine, we have started development on the base pod we have researched from our last Lead. So far it has been on time with the schedule with no obstacles. Akira has made a list of more supplies he needs to continue development of the prototype pod. This list can be found in these documents on page 36.” Teruko sighs at Ginya, who ignored her comment on formalities earlier. She reaches out to the pile of documents Ginya placed on her desk and starts flipping through them. “You know you also don't have to call me by my last name too, Ginya. “I’m sorry Miss, it’s just in my blood.” Teruko shakes her head gently before reading over the page. “Nothing looks crazy here, so I will greenlight the supplies request.”
“And how's the simulation coming?” Ginya flips through his own set of documents before speaking again “Rei has been silent as usual. I get updates more from Kenji rather than her. Perhaps you should speak with her and tell her to speak up more.” “Okay, I’ll see what's up after this.”
“Other than that, what's the progress?” “To quote Kenji, ‘It's very barren and not a full dive experience yet, It’s more like a VR experience!’ End quote.” Teruko rocks her chair back and forth while typing away on her own computer. “I’ll probably try it for myself when I go and talk to Rei.” “Good choice Miss.” “And what about you Ginya?” “My research has been easy since the development of cryostasis has come a long way. There is a lot of work that we can base our own project upon. I can't determine the perfect way to incorporate this research until we get further in our own development.” “That's completely understandable. Anything else I should know?” Ginya packs away his own computer before getting up from his chair. “Nothing important. Kenji has his own list for you of things he wants but I determined it wasn't necessary for our development.”
Teruko takes a long look at Ginya while he packs up his own laptop and paperwork. He has short black hair that is well kept and groomed, clean shaven too. The look on his face doesn't match the rest of him. It's one of more serious looks, one that's lost and contemplating in thought. Ginya also looms over Teruko’s desk, he is quite tall compared to everyone else in the lab. From the head down he wears a company standard suit with no lab coat, since he only really does paperwork. Even with nothing being overly fancy, Teruko can tell that Ginya cares about his appearance and keeps it tidy. Ginya notices Teruko staring with her piercing glare. “Is there something wrong Miss?” Teruko comes back to the world after her examination of Ginya. “No, there's nothing wrong.” Ginya gives a light nod in affirmation. Teruko herself stands from her seat and walks with Ginya towards the door. “Thanks for the rundown Ginya, I don't know what I would do without you honestly.” “Of course, it's my job Miss.” They both walk out the office together and into the main lobby.
“Welcome Saturnine!” Teruko and Ginya exit the office to see Miya at her desk shuffling around her own stack of papers. Both Ginya and Teruko start walking past her desk but Miya jumps up to follow them both. “I just told you Miya, you don't have to be formal with me.” Miya squeezes between the two, being the shortest one between both Teruko and Ginya. “It’s hard to just call you Teruko! I mean you're my boss after all! Teruko sighs and brushes off Miya’s comment. Teruko can't take her too seriously nor really be mad at her. Having someone like this can be helpful during certain situations in this environment. Miya’s bright blue twin tails really do light up the room along with her constant smile on her face. Teruko also takes in Miya’s outfit. It's more of a casual version of the company clothing, yet her personality leaks through her clothes and makes it easy to see. “So where are you two going now?” Miya speaks up to break the silence. “To speak with Rei about the current status of the prototype simulation.” Ginya answers her question for me. “Ohhhh I think it's looking good so far! Rei let me play with it for a little while yesterday. She said it was to test and fix some certain bugs or something.” All three of them walk down the main stairs and into the main research and development part of the lab, making their way to Rei’s office, which was just a portion of the lab partitioned off. “It's about time for me to see how it's going so far.”
All three of them arrive at Rei’s desk where she is staring deep into the monitor in front of her and clacking away at the keyboard. Teruko steps forward from the group to speak to Rei. “Ahm.” Teruuko makes a sound but Rei still stares at her monitor. “Uh, Rei?” While still completely glued to her monitor, Rei makes a small noise to show that she heard Teruko. “Hm.” “I’d like to see what you have done so far with the simulation.” “Ah.” Rei continues to clack away at her keyboard for a moment. Teruuko takes a second to look over Rei. Her long red hair makes her stand out while she's sitting typing away. She's also roughly the same height as Teruko. Her Lacoat covers her entire body, making it hard to really see the company suit underneath it, hard to tell if she's even wearing it to begin with.
Rei finally stops typing and turns to face Teruko where she can see round glasses sitting on Rei’s nose. Rei looks at Teruko for a moment before reaching for some sort of headset on her desk and handing it to Teruko. “Put this on.” Teruuko grabs the headset and starts to strap it to her face. “Oooo, the boss is gonna love it!”
Ginya steps in to help Teruko set up the headset correctly while Miya watches in glee. “Starting the simulation now.” Before Teruko can say anything, the headset comes to life and all Teruuko can see is a white void in front of her. “There is no audio device so you can still hear us around you for now, Miss Saturnine.” Ginya spoke up to reassure Teruko. “So what can you do right now Rei?” “I can change your environment and spawn things in.” Soon enough, the white void in front of Teruko instantly turns into a scenic park environment. It looks so real and lived in to Teruko that she is stunned for a moment, only looking around and taking in the scenery. What knocks Teruko out of her viewing party was a trash can just appearing in the park right in front of her. An interesting choice but Teruko understood what it meant in terms of the simulation. “And that is all I have so far.” Rei continues to type away at her keyboard which was Teruko’s signal to take the headset off. “Wow, it's not much but man does it look good. Good job Rei, keep up the good work.” A small smile can be seen on Rei’s face along with a small chuckle before she was sucked into the monitor again. “Sounds like you enjoyed it Boss!” Teruko looks towards Miya, she shakes her head at Miya for still calling her Boss, but it's better in her book then Saturnine.
“It's been slow but it's coming along, I'm sure the Clocktower will probably be happy with some progress.” “Should I write a report for the Clocktower Miss Saturnine?” Ginya looks at Teruko ready for her word. “No no ,it's fine. They would know it's not from me and they wouldn't like that.” “I see.” Teruko looks down at her watch before starting to pace herself back to her office. “Ah and they want that report in an hour, I gotta go and finish that up. Keep up the great work everyone!” “Let me know if you need anything Boss!” Miya shouts and waves at Teruko who is running back up the main stairs to her office. Miya turns towards Ginya and gives a big thumbs up to him. “Keep up the good work too Gin! We have to work hard for the Boss!” Ginya nods and walks Miya back to her desk.
