The Noon Witch

Lady Midday (or the "Noon Witch") appears when the sun is highest and hottest. She will try to ask you hard questions, and if you don't answer, or answer incorrectly, she will cut off your head with her sickle. Lady Midday can appear as a young or old woman and often carries either a scythe or shears. The legend was most likely derived from farm workers being stricken with sun stroke.
