With the words finally hitting the progression of my brain–my heart already sunk below the crevices of my stomach before I could even think. “Cardiac..arrest..?” my body stood still yet my mind flew in infinite thoughts. Kablam! The door was quickly swung opened and the wind pressure pushed intently as it’s bullying nature violently flapped the bedsheets that laid bare. “Please! Hurry!” his voice concerningly pitched with urgency. “W-What can I do..!?” I somehow stated. He could only look at me with a knowing look, “I need you to be a witness, in case anything happens..!” with that he wasted no time getting to the bedside of Alaine and put his hands onto her chest before enacting CPR. With multiple sweat droplets dripping down his face he could only push down with desperation–as all I could do was watch. Pump! Pump! “N-No! Goddamn it..!” he grittingly whispered. As he kept pumping her seemingly lifeless chest the door suddenly bursted open with a unknowingly electrical current. “Stand back everyone!” Felina gently shouted. In her hand–seemingly somewhat; two electrical wires were connected to a copper casted object which was covered mostly in a rubber wrap; with oversized worker gloves, Felina rushed past me and towards the opposite side where Berny stood. Swiftly putting the objects onto her chest, Felina shouted, “CLEAR!” and not even a second too soon the zapping of electricity vibrated through my entire body as I felt the surge of its current trickle throughout the room. As the machine stood silent–the room eventually grasped the situation and the fog from my hazed vision finally started to clear. Alaine laid still on the bed, her face pale and her movements–cold. “A–Alaine..?” I gaspingly whispered, it was then Felina put her head onto her chest all the while laying two fingers on the base of her neck. Her eyes mildly widened with hope, “S-She has a pulse..!” Berny put a hand to his chest and sighed in relief, “T-Thank goodness..” he soundly confirmed. I only stood with my jaw ajar before the figure of Dax rushed from behind me towards Alaine’s side. “Alaine..!” he worriedly chanted, as the knobs of my knees finally collapsed, the figure of my mind dulled and the desperation of my eyes stood without motion. The welt up feelings of reality finally hit me as my limbs shivered before becoming limp. As my mind fractured without an ounce of emotion–the truth was just too hard to bare within and the dull sensation of my thoughts; with the thump of heavy bones, ligaments and flesh–my body collapses onto the cold wooden boards before my consciousness flicks out.
“Good..you’re breathing..” a faint voice echoed through my ears–as I opened my eyes to see who was in front of me, the blurry figure soon came to be Dax. “D-Dax? What..happened? Alaine..is she alright..?” my throat gasping dry as I spoke. “Yeah..its okay, you just fainted and she’s alright–why don’t we trying calming down a little?” His repeated words echoed in my head as I took steadier breaths. Sitting up from the floor I looked at the bed Alaine laid in and said, “H-How long was I out..?; No more than a minute, doctor Felina and Berny already left the room after they checked up on you so, you don’t have to worry about them either..” Dax calmly exclaimed. He then looked towards the bed and I knew what I was going to do. Getting up onto my feet, the ends of my fingers were cold as I stood beside the bed. Finally looking into her eyes–the knowing and familiar eyes of the girl I’ve grown up with was now struck with a faded haze. Her almost unreflective and dull gaze rotated its course towards me. “Lin..?” but her words silently quitted halfway through before saying, “Where..are..?” My mouth soured as the reality once again pushed its truth onto me. My fists balled intently as I could only stay silent; pulling up two chairs, Dax motioned for me to sit. Only silence was conversed for several minutes before he broke it by asking, “Hey, Linden…how old do you think you’re brother is..?” with a sudden question, it took me a relative moment to think before saying, “I..I’m not sure, maybe around..twenty seven this year..” I apathetically exclaimed. “Well..lets say if you do eventually meet him, what would you do..?” his second question tried finding me again; “Well..I’d..” but before I got to say anything that came to mind, I could only keep my jaw from closing. “I’d…” another silence washed over the room. The pipes within the walls listened in as the two of us sat motionless.
