The Demon Lord stood on the side of the road, he didn't really care to disturb anyone currently, and it wasn't as though humans would be able to see him. He was invisible, after all, how could they?
Regardless, he watched as the humans went about their daily lives, passing by the various shops along the road, chatting amongst themselves, flirting, all those human urges that came naturally to them.
The Demon Lord stood about for hours upon hours, just watching... Always just watching... Waiting... Constantly waiting... For what? He wasn't sure, though he felt that something important was bound to happen here, and at the bottom of his heart, he was excited about it.
And, as odd as it was, as he thought about his excitement. How strangely warm he felt in his chest and stomach, a young girl had wandered towards him. She felt along the wall until she reached him, clutching onto his rather well-kept suit.
It was odd, how did this young girl know where he was? It was impossible, really, he was invisible! Surely she didn't actually know he was there... He decided to play it safe for now, be quiet, quiet as can be, no mortal would ever hear a word from him.
"Daddy, is that you?" The young girl asked, "I was looking for youuuu!" She added, folding part of his suit onto itself and blowing hot air into it.
"What?" The Demon Lord blurted out, "Who-"
He was cut off by the young girl, "When are we gonna go to the park? You promised we'd go real real soon!"
The Demon Lord flinched, he had never experienced such positive energy from anyone before, it was sickening, really... But in a way, it was cute. The Demon Lord typically despised anything cute and fluffy, but this was a bit different, he hadn't ever felt like this before, he felt as though... Well as though he needed to protect this young child, no matter the costs!
The Demon Lord's invisibility faded, he was clearly visible to all passersby. He let out a sigh, "Listen, I don't think-"
Yet again, he was cut off by the young girl, "Come on, let's go! We didn't get to go before you had to go to the grocery store! That was a long time ago, come to think of it! But I'm glad you're finally back!"
The Demon Lord once again flinched. The girl's father... She was probably abandoned. Only a true demon would let such an innocent soul go on living like that, who knows how long she's been wandering about?
He weighed his options. He could either leave this child to do who knows what, or he could take her in, perhaps teach her some demonic magic... Yes, yes, she could be his personal bodyguard! With enough training, that is.
The Demon Lord smiled, then patting the girl's head, "Yes, yes, where did you say we were going? The park?"
The girl beamed, giving a rather contagious smile that would make even those with the darkest of hearts crack a smile. It sickened the Demon, though he also felt it a bit endearing.
"Come then, we'll be off now, take my hand, don't want any strangers getting you hurt!"
"M'kay, daddy!
