Ruth drives the car towards the famous hot dog stall on Maple Street. He bought four hotdogs for each one. Sam, carrying Aiden in his arms, finds a spot at a nearby table, ready to savour the evening snacks with his young nephew.
Aiden quickly warmed up to his new uncle and soon started to chat and laugh with him while enjoying their hot dogs and fries. He was used to fancy restaurants with his father, so grabbing hot dogs at a local stall with his mom and her friends felt new and exciting.
Ruth and Siren leaned casually against the car, their eyes filled with smiles as they watched the scene unfold before them. After a moment, Ruth turned to Siren and asked, "So, did Raven treat you well?"
Siren tore her gaze away from Aiden and met Ruth's eyes. With a small nod, she replied, "Hmm. He pulled off the gentleman act surprisingly well."
Ruth scoffed, “Raven and gentleman don’t go in one line”
She smirked and replied, “Well, at least he’s got some acting skills, unlike his son.”
Hearing this, Ruth couldn’t help but chuckle and glanced over at his nephew. “True enough. That little rascal thinks he can fool us with that innocent act of his.”
After a brief pause, Ruth continued, "But... he loves you dearly."
Siren fell silent, her gaze drifting towards Aiden, who was playfully tussling over fries with Sam. An indiscernible emotion flickered in her eyes. She might not fully grasp the concept of love, but one thing was clear, she wouldn't let any harm come to him.
Ruth dropped Siren and Aiden off at the Grey mansion before driving towards his own home with Sam.
"I like him so much," Sam said, running his hands through his silver locks, which fluttered in the wind like moonbeams cascading through the night sky, casting a shimmering glow.
Ruth glanced at him from the corner of his eye as he drove. "He is a good child."
“Is that so? Then shall we adopt a child too?” Sam suggested with a playful grin.
Ruth pondered over Sam's suggestion for a moment before responding, "Nope. Aiden is enough."
Sam chuckled and inquired, "Why? Don't you want a child of your own to love?"
Ruth took one hand off the steering wheel and gently grasped Sam's hand in his own. He brought it to his lips and tenderly kissed Sam's knuckles before replying, "You are enough for me."
Sam's ears started to turn red, and he playfully pulled his hand away, teasing, "Geez... you're turning into a total sap".
Ruth chuckled and pulled Sam into his side with his free hand, planting a tender kiss on his silver locks. Sam nestled into his arms, resting his face against Ruth's chest, seeking comfort and solace. As the car silently glided through the bustling evening lights of the city, they found peace in each other's embrace.
After finishing her dinner, Siren headed to the shower before rummaging through her closet for her pyjamas. To her surprise, she found that more clothes had been added to the section than the previous day. Intrigued, she sifted through the new pyjama sets one by one, curious about the sudden additions.
Her eyes narrowed as her fingers glided through the clothes. There were three sections of pyjamas. The first contained the ones she had brought from her house, loungewear adorned with big cartoons at the centre. As she shifted to the other sets, the long sweatpants gradually transitioned to short lounging trousers with waist strings. But as she approached the last section, her eyes narrowed further, and she started to grit her teeth.
The last section was completely filled with a variety of lacy slip dresses that covered next to nothing of her body. Siren was certain that this was Raven's doing to provoke her. Ignoring the flimsy dresses, she reached for her usual clothes, quickly changed, and headed to bed.
As she stepped out of the closet, Siren spotted Aiden seated in the middle of the bed with a book in his lap. She approached the bed and settled beside him.
"Mommy, can you read me a story?" Aiden blinked up at her with wide, innocent eyes.
Siren gazed at him for a moment before reaching for the book in his lap. "Sure."
Aiden grinned and hugged his pillow, eagerly awaiting the start of the story. Siren flipped open the book and was surprised to find it was a fairytale: "The Princess and the Frog."
She glanced at Aiden, momentarily puzzled. "Was he really interested in this type of book?" she wondered silently. Shrugging off her curiosity, she began to read, while Aiden listened to her attentively.
After an unknown amount of time, Siren stopped reading and glanced over to see that Aiden had fallen asleep in the bed. She closed the book gently and placed it on the bedside table. Carefully, she tucked him in under the blanket before joining him in the bed.
Sitting beside him, she caressed his hair and lightly pecked his forehead. "If you want to sleep here, all you have to do is ask," she whispered.
Closing her eyes, she allowed herself to drift into slumber. Surprisingly, the presence of the father and son duo had the same calming effect on her sleep.
Contrary to the peace in Worcester, Nexus Point was in chaos-a place in Millburg. Guns blazed, sending bullets whizzing through the air with deadly precision. The sharp crack of gunfire mixed with the deafening boom of exploding bombs, created a cacophony of noise that reverberated through the narrow alleyway.
In the midst of the mayhem, a solitary figure stood tall, his demeanour unwavering despite the turmoil around him. With a steely expression, he held a gun firmly in front of the man who knelt before him, a silent testament to the power he wielded in this dangerous world.
