“Bang” a gunshot is heard, and the gentleman is shooting right back. David was fast, but the gentleman was faster. He turned and caught a jumping David and shot back at the assassin as he fell on the ground with David in his arms.
Through that shooting other men come and continue shooting and the other men disappear in the forest.
“Find them, don’t lose them.” The gentleman holding David commands as the rest go after the assassins.
“Are you okay?” is the question that comes out of David who is now losing consciousness. The gentleman turns with a flattered and angry face and before he replies, David passes out.
Its when the gentleman realises that David had been shot on his left shoulder. He races off looking for the nearby treatment area and the only, and he gets there fast.
“Medic, medic,……” the gentleman shouts for help while carrying David as he runs towards the park hospital.
“A Gun shot wound.” He says as he lays him down on the bed he first sees. Doctors come rushing in and David is moved into another room. Since there were no operating rooms, he was treated in a normal room for 2 to 3 hours and finally they came out.
“Is he going to be Okay?” asked the gentleman.
“Yes Mr. Alves, your wife did a good job removing the bullet” answered one of the doctors.
"Thank you” replies Mr.
Alves as he moves out and finds one of his men
“Did you find the assassins?”
“No, boss, the forest is too thick it was hard to find them. But I think I know who sent them. It is Santos sir, the bullet is from his factory.”
“Killing me in Africa won’t make him rule the area.” He says with a smirk on his face and annoyance appears with his fists folded hard.
“We head back in two days, make the arrangements.” He speaks while heading back into the hospital and stops suddenly at the door and turns.
“Any information on the boy”
“Yes, boss.” Jackson approaches and hands him a file.
“Thanks, carry on with the arrangements of departing.” He waves him off with his hand as he heads in. Mr. Alves sits down in the room next to David as he looks through the file on him.
“He is such a brave kid Ramos.” I voices breaks the silence from behind. When he turns, it’s his wife. Mrs. Alves was a doctor and she loved volunteering in places that needed help. She approaches him with her eyes fixed on David
“I think he is just ignorant Malita.” Mr. Alves replies with a simple laughter on his lips.
“That ignorance saved your life mi amor” she hugs him from behind and bends, as she places her chin on his left shoulder with her hand on his chest.
Mr. Alves couldn’t agree more. He is such a fearless boy and he just could not put figures to why such a young boy could do that for a stranger. Lost in his thoughts, David wakes and Mrs. Alves reached for him quickly.
“Are you feeling better?”
“Is the gentleman okay?” is the first word that comes out of him. They all freeze and look at each other and then him at the mention of such words.
“Is he really Ignorant or fearless?” was the first thought in Mr. Alves' mind.
“Am fine thank you.” he replies as he stands from his chair and heads to the bed next to David, as David asses his body to see if he has any bruises.
“Thank God” David says with a big sigh from him. Mr. Alves looks closely at him because he had never seen anyone like David, most people get close to kill him not to save him.
“Why is that?” asks Mr. Alves with eyes narrowed down at David.
“I hate seeing people get hurt, for no reason. And besides, It would be a shame if we both got hurt yet I was saving you.”
“Do you know the meaning of saving a life?” was the question Mrs. Alves wished to know.
“I just know that if you save a life, it will save you one day.” That confused Mr. Alves more.
“Care to elaborate?”
“Supreme mother always tells me that, If I help someone today, they will help me tomorrow. If I save a life today, it will save me tomorrow”
A loud laughter escapes the lips of Mr. Alves and the wife. It is funny watching a 13-year-old talking about saving lives.
“Well, David thank you for saving my life, I guess I will have a chance to save yours next time” he extends for a hand shake with David who holds his other hand out in pain.
David could not believe that he was holding hands with the man he was admiring from behind.
“I will leave my wife here to check on you and see the way forward.”
“Its fine sir, my wound has been tended too, I have to get back.”
“It’s fine, they were informed that you will be late. But would you agree if we adopted you as our own child?” asks Mrs. Alves, who turns to look at Mr. Alvis who is shocked at the moment.
She nods to him and he agrees to it. Since they always thought of adopting, this would work for the best. This boy just literally gave his life for him. It’s the best he can do. And besides, his wife had a good eye for people.
“Would that be possible?” he asks looking at them in worry. Mrs Alves gets close to him and holds his chin up and nods to him. David nods in exchange. Having parents would be a good thing for him, he always wanted a family.
The process was handled and they left with David for Brazil in two days. It was great for the family to have a new family member. David grew up with the Alves, a mafia family and learned all their ways.
They only had two son Anton and Timothy and David who became the baby brother to them. They grew up together and competed equally for everything.
The family was so lovely that they never discriminated between their three sons not even in the slightest way. David gained a loving family that loved him and adored him, and he gave them his heart and trust.
At 20 years, David was the best he would ever be. He was good at fighting and always protected his family with his life. He became I trainer while studying and at 23 he had finished college. However at, 23 when Timothy decided to move away from home and go to Ireland he followed him.
Timothy was not so into the family business, so he decided that. David decided to go with him to have a change of environment. Mr. Alves did not want two of his sons to go, but Mrs alves allowed them to go and protect each other which Mr. Alves later agreed to and that is how they left the country.
They went and started a new, each with a life of their own. They lived as if they were not rich so they went to the outcasts of Ireland with few people and settled there. That is when David met Rosey at a club, the only woman he ever loved and they had a child with her, Daniella.
………………………………………………………………
That story is still vivid in my mind. Is it because David is gone and I cannot see him again. All memories I shared with him are flashing in my brain like waves of electricity that do not warn when going through you.
I would not want Daniele to go through that now, not on my watch. I have orders to make sure she does not find out.
