1 of the cops lowers their gun and handcuffs me, my family, and the scientists. They take us to a big stadium.
“Mr. Davison, we have aliens in need of an immediate trial. They just touched down onto unmarked territory.”
“Unmarked territory?” I blurt. “What’s that?”
Mom scolds me. “Concord! Don’t talk!”
“Yes.” The officer glares at me. “Listen to your mother, boy.”
“Sorry” I whimper.
There’s a judge on a podium. He’s so short we can barely see the top of his head.
“Ahem.” He clears his throat. “I hear that you touched down on unmarked territory. This is illegal.”
I try to look at out of the corner of my eye at my dad. I can’t see him, but I hear him reply.
“I’m so sorry for this inconvience, sir. We’re from a different planet. We weren’t aware of your rules.”
I can’t see the judge’s expression.
“I don’t CARE, if you don’t know of our rules. You’re a threat, and my verdict is to sentence you all to 10 years of jail time.”
There’s an outcry from the crowd. A girl with blue skin and short purple hair stands up in the stands.
“I have an objection!” She cries.
Yipee!
“These are aliens. You can’t hold a simple mistake against them. As long as they’ve come in peace, we should let them go. This time. They probably aren’t as advanced as us to understand what a territory is anyway. You see how clueless they are. And being friendly to them could give us an alliance with their planet. I know the dominant is dealing with possible war with the planet Lirian.”
The judge glares at the girl, but clears his throat and nods.
“The girl is right. Letting these aliens off the hook may be beneficial to us. Friends,” He addresses us. Yeah right. He wasn’t treating us like friends a few minutes ago. “Where are you from?”
Mom answers him. “We’re from planet Earth.”
