In the silent halls of the 18th hospital floor, where the one and only daughter and princess of the Liu conglomerate lies as the sole patient, a pair of footsteps, unhurried and uniform, resound loudly, echoing through the empty rooms.
The footsteps halted in front of the only occupied room on the 18th floor.
Knock, knock.
A dark-suited man, towering over 1.9 meters with a perfect military posture, knocked twice. His black hair seemed to engulf light, refusing to release it once captured. His obsidian-colored eyes, thin and almond-shaped, appeared to see through one's soul. His lashes cast a shadow on his Roman nose. A stoic expression was fixed on his face, with a deep scar across his left neck. His hair was neatly fixed back.
This man, newly appointed as the head of security solely dedicated to ensuring Liu Leah’s safety, was a result of her parents' deep concern upon hearing of their only daughter's rush to the hospital. Both parents hastily, yet meticulously assembled one of the best security teams for her.
Their daughter typically doesn't require an excessive arm's-length security detail. She usually brings the store to her if she needs shopping and hosts banquets in their territory if she feels like having fun.
Since her last abduction incident during high school, their daughter has been meticulous about her safety. She would never allow herself to be in a dangerous situation, both due to her past experience and partly out of consideration for her parents' worry.
However, during her engagement with Wang's first-born son, Wang Haoran, their daughter seemed to only think about how to please him. It appeared that she had changed after encountering that bastard one year ago. She no longer seemed to prioritize her own safety but rather focused solely on the safety of that bastard. Almost all of the security staff originally assigned to her were reassigned to ensure the safety of that bastard from his half-brothers.
"Sir, it's Yang Zed. May I come in?" the man asked after knocking twice.
The man standing at the door, whose background far exceeds the qualifications of a mere security guard, is the leader of their daughter's new security team. He and his team were given one clear order: never leave Liu Leah’s side, no matter the circumstance.
"Come in," a firm, low voice emanated from inside the room. It was Liu Leah’s father.
After receiving permission, Yang Zed entered the room. He glanced briefly at the bed where Liu Leah lay, then walked toward his boss, who was sitting on a long couch next to his assistant, engrossed in reviewing information on his tablet. They appeared to be discussing the upcoming launch of their major product.
As soon as he reached the two middle-aged men, Yang Zed's boss, Liu Aiden, ceased speaking and rose to face him. His assistant followed suit, quietly awaiting his superior’s next instruction.
Zed gazed at the middle-aged man, noting the resemblance to Liu Leah—about 50%, with inherited light blue eyes and an aquiline nose. This man, the head of the Liu conglomerate, possessed a unique blend of Caucasian and East Asian heritage. He always carried himself as if on the brink of sealing a major business deal.
"Tell me what happened," Liu Aiden inquired, his tone commanding.
"A man claiming to be your future son-in-law’s personal assistant wants to check on how the young miss is doing," Zed replied, his voice steady and professional.
Zed added, “He also would like to speak to the young miss in private when she wakes up,” conveying the additional request with a calm and neutral tone.
Clunked!
Upon hearing Zed's report, Liu Fang, Leah’s mother, kicked the bedside table in frustration. Despite being a middle-aged woman standing at 1.5 meters tall, she retained an ethereal beauty reminiscent of a fairy from an Eastern painting come to life. Even after having her daughter, she appeared youthful enough to pass as Liu Leah’s older sister.
All eyes turned towards the petite woman standing at Liu Leah’s bedside. "That bastard, I’m going to pulverize him when I see him!" Liu Fang shouted through gritted teeth, her handkerchief clenched fiercely in her hand.
Liu Fang, Leah’s mother, grew up in a family surrounded by gruff military men. She had no sisters, only four elder brothers. Raised in an environment where gender mattered little, she was treated much like her brothers. Because of this, she speaks and acts like her burly brothers. It was only when she fell in love and married her now husband that she began to embrace her feminine side.
They were initially married for political reasons, but her love for her husband was reciprocated and never waned. They were perceived as a loving couple both in public and, even more so, within the confines of their home. Liu Leah often joked about suffering from toothache due to the excessively sweet affection displayed by her parents, comparing it to diabetic-inducing dog food.
“Honey, Leah’s sleeping,” Liu Aiden reminded his wife, paying little heed to how the other two men perceived his wife. His assistant appeared accustomed to the madam’s temper and character.
Liu Fang forced herself to calm down. She sat back down and continued holding her daughter’s hand, allowing the men to proceed with their discussion.
"Tell him to go back. We will be the ones to contact them, not the other way around," Liu Aiden commanded, his tone firm and authoritative.
He added, "Next time you see that bastard’s people or anyone from that family, just throw them out without explanation," with a steely resolve in his voice.
“Understood,” Zed affirmed, wasting no time before swiftly departing.
Half an hour later, high-pitched female shouts erupted from outside Liu Leah’s room. One belonged to Wang Haoran’s female cousin of the same generation, accompanied by her friend. They claimed to be Liu Leah’s friends and attempted to force their way into the 18th-floor main entrance. However, under the strict orders of team leader Yang Zed, four burly men stood firm, refusing to budge as they barricaded the main entrance with their bodies.
At this moment, Leaf heard her first two quests in this world.

"What did you say, host? I did not quite hear you," Zero inquired.
Zero asked its host, unaware of the rapid exchange that occurred in mere nanoseconds.
“Nothing,” Leaf answered back.
[Looks like time is linear for systems],
Leaf playfully thought.
Zero attempted to read its host's mind but received nothing. It found it unusual to be unable to read their host's mind, considering their soul-level bond. Nevertheless, it let it go, judging that its host must not have much on their mind at the moment.
“Host, prepare to start planning on how to complete your quest…”, Zero started to encourage its hosts.
Leaf ignored Zero and murmured, "Status Window."
