I realise what they meant by never judging a book by its cover. 

Sam is a demon that can’t seem to pull his magic out.

Vicky hasn’t manifested yet.

Vini is the most powerful among them but lacks stamina 

And me?

I am just a freeloader eating off their money. 

The empire of Aclairia consists of several kingdoms, in the west is the demon realm ruled by yuil de froiger.

In east is the human tribe headed by Gaizel… his last name is a tongue twister so don’t bother

From north to south lies the kingdom of Anicel where species of west and east connect. 

And finally above everything is the kingdom of the fairies. According to Vini we were at war with them. It ended with them shutting their borders.

Our world produces magic according to the number of crystals harvested. Each crystal has its own characteristic. 

Once a person manifests, they produce a crystal covering in their heart which connects to the crystals found in the fairy realm. 

But magic grew too explosive that one can only use magic when fused with a weapon. 

“Hey you”, 

I glared at sam who disrupted my chain of thought 

“Don’t you think it is about time you put that body to work?”, he said in a annoyed manner

Well, he is indeed correct. I seemed to gain weight sleeping on this fluffy old couch. Vini was grateful enough to let me live with her.

But me working with them will only cause more trouble 

“I still have no idea about magic”

“There are jobs that don’t require magic”

I sulked

“Before that we should buy her a weapon, didn’t sam break her weapon”, Vini suggested teasing Sam

Sam avoided eye contact

“I mean it was dull"

“We can check her element now that we are doing this”, vicky said slurping off his noodles 

“Might as well register her to the luminous legionnaire”, sam said with a sigh

The luminous legionnaire…

An organisation meant to defend and maintain peace among kingdoms. It is a hierarchical organisation where the top 3 are given the diamond rank. 

1. diamond

2. gold

3.silver

Others that don’t fall into any of the categories are given bronze. 

“That reminds me, we still haven’t figured what to name you”, Vini said

That’s right, I can't forever live without a name…

“How about elizabeth? She was the late princess of Anicel”, Vini exclaimed

“I don’t see any beauty in her though”,sam joked 

“Hmm…”

Vini’s silence seemed to stab me a little but I do believe Elizabeth seemed a bit too feminine for me.

“How about Melezaban? Archianna’s other name”, Vini said excitedly

Melezaban…

Indeed a unique yet matches my taste 

And so we agreed on that

There it was.

A gigantic modern looking building that no thief would imagine approaching.

Many flags flew next to the big board 

“LUMINOUS LEGIONNAIRE”

It said

Many creatures passed by. Being in this organisation and working consistently was the best way to earn a living but I could feel people staring at us as if we were a pest.

I shrugged 

“It’s fine, they do that because we are the lowest ranking”, Vini smiled

“We just snatch quest before anyone could see so can’t blame them”,sam said 

Oh dear Archianna, please don’t bring trouble to my life. I was tired of socialising, I don’t want to be the black sheep, I just want a peaceful life. I internally cried 

Inside was as intimidating as outside, crystals were used as candles giving a magical yet threatening vibe. We were walking next to a big aquarium with different varieties of fishes 

“Is that a shark”, I said timidly 

“The guy consumed too many crystal that the legionnaire had to step in and take custody”, Vicky said

“What happens if you eat crystals?’, I asked

“Two possibilities, either you die from poisoning, or you become a ticking bomb and vaporise into magic”

Techincally you die.

“Too much of anything is poisonous after all”, Vini qouted

The registration went without an hassle, the reception lady brought me into a room of big cylindrical tubes.

the room was darker than the reception. green crystals hanged there bringing a spooky vibe. there were people inside some tube casting magic. this was to record my magic capacity so that I could be awarded with a rank.

“Don’t worry, this thing is really strong. Just bear in mind to never cross the thread”, Vini advised 

Thread?

Before I could ask her I was shut inside the glass tube. 

Now comes the real question 

How do I use my magic…

Something was happening to my body. 

My ear started ringing 

Eyes blurry 

It was difficult breathing

What is this gas?

I tried to bang but it didn’t even flinch. Tears flew from my eyes. Wiping them I realised 

“Blood?”

I sat on my knees trying to call for help. My body produces glowing tattoos which felt like needles every second they grew.

I closed my eyes trying to take control of the situation but nothing worked, I screamed in terrible pain.

they couldn't hear me but they did notice my pain.

“Something is wrong”, sam alerted 

“That is definitely not the reaction to be happy off”, vicky said turning to Vini

“Um! Can you please stop the process”, Vini cried to the lady

The lady panickingly stopped and opened the tube

I huffed outside 

Everyone looked at me as if I were a monster

Vini who was in tears came and hugged me

all my pain vanished.

I felt drowsy.

“Who would have thought that she is allergic to white magic”, sam sighed 

“I terribly apologise for the inconvenience, I shall go fetch the doctor quickly”, I lady cried running outside 

My blurry vision slowly faded to into darkness 

Maybe peace was never an option.

I opened my eyes in surprise but there I was..

"a shrine?", my mumbled

I turned around and there she was

her body pale and decomposed, her snow white hair drenched and sticking to her face

"who- who are you", I said taking a step back

"I am the person whose fututre you stole and I will be the person to steal the world's future",she cried

her voice echoed throughout my brain.

a feeling of guilt woke me to reality.

"the person whose future I stole huh?", I qouted
