The four of us looked at each other nervously, 'Oh no...' I thought to myself. Princess Starla came up to me and actually grabbed me by my dress, and pulled me up. "You!" she hissed. I swallowed hard and didn't say anything. "Cole!" Bora said. I suddenly felt a rage build up in me and then something happened far to quickly for me to notice.
One moment Starla had me, the next I was on Cole's neck and he was hissing, flurries of frost billowing out of his nostrils. "Cole!" I said. 'Maybe I can try and do the telepathy, he's not listening to me or his brother...maybe I can calm him?' I wondered to myself. I closed my eyes and slowly made the anger go away thinking of soothing things. //Cole, this isn't worth it, you'll get into trouble...please.// I said via telepathy. I took in deep breaths and soon his breathing matched mine, "Leave. NOW!" he barked very angrily.
I shuddered a bit at the tone, when I opened my eyes the three Royals left, slowly Cole laid down breathing heavily. I slid down from his neck and patted the side of his head. I leaned against him for a moment, slowly I got his breathing to calm down and he laid down. //Just relax it's okay.// I said. Slowly I helped him relax and rest, the others looked at me in shock. I tilted my head, "W-what?" I asked. "Clearly your bond is far stronger than father thought.... h-he allowed you to soothe him." Bora said. I didn't know what to say or do, 'Wow...' I thought to myself.
The room was fairly quiet, aside from the crackling of fire, and other sounds. I sat down and sighed, "I'm very tired..." I said. "I bet." Ash said. "By the way how does this bond fully work? There's not much written about it." Kathy asked. "There a different interpretation, as it is different to everyone." Bora said. "Okay, so why did you choose me to be your partner?" Kathy asked. "I mostly just followed my gut feeling, It's what we're told we will just know sometimes the human partner will know as well." Bora explained. The other dragons nodded, "Is there much known about this or is this rare?" Benny asked. "Rare, we don't just bond with anyone and it has to be something both people want." Juniper said. We all nodded, a moment later the doors opened again the kings both looked worried. "Is everything okay?" King Darius asked. "Yes sire." We said. "Miss Carlisa.." King Darius faltered. "Did my daughter grab you?" he asked. I felt nervous, and didn't know if I should answer that.
Cole slowly woke up and then spotted his dad, I felt him at the back of my head. 'Well that confirms one of my questions.' I thought to myself. //I can't really read minds, nor can you but I can see brief flashes of memories and or feelings.// He explained. I nodded slightly. "Miss." King Darius said. "Darius, remember, her position and your opinion she's fearful of that." King Byron said. "You don't have to be afraid, all I ask is the truth." he said. I swallowed, "She did." I said. He nodded and looked sad. "D-did she do anything in the trials?" he asked. I felt really uncomfortable with that. 'I don't want to answer...' I thought to myself. "Yes," I said quietly. Cole bristled, I put my hand on him, //Its okay.// I said. He rumbled a little in response but resettled himself. "What did she do?" King Darius asked. "She...pushed me off a cliff..." I said quickly.
This shocked Darius, "I-I landed in the water just fine though." I added quickly. "What was the hardest trial for you?" King Byron asked seeming to want to change the subject. "Bravery," we all said, "Facing our fears was really hard." Benny said. "But, I think it's made us stronger." Kathy said. "We know we can work together and help each other out." Lotus said. I nodded, "We have different skills but together we can work together." I said. The kings smiled, "Good, you chose well Byron." King Darius said. "Thank you." he said.
"Cole, may I speak to you in private for a moment?" he asked. His expression calm but I knew that look all to well that same one my dad gives me if I misbehave or did something rash. Cole got up his tail low and his head lower, I could feel his guilt. //It's okay.// I said. The two of them left and Darius stayed, "By the way, you all can tell me anything, I will believe you." he said to all of us, "Don't be afraid to tell me anything okay?" he asked. We nodded, though I still wasn't fully certain. "Sire? what will we be doing now that we've bonded with our dragon partners?" Benny turned towards Ash. He kinda shrugged, like he wasn't sure either. Cole sent a few waves of guilt and nervousness. 'I'm sorry....' I thought to myself.
"Well, once you've recovered and had some time to get more aquainted with each other, you will start some training." King Darius said. Cole and King Byron came back in, Cole came over to me and he felt sad. I patted his shoulder. "What will we be training for?" Benny asked. "Training to become the guardians of the kingdom, with the rumors of war and that spy, yes that man was a spy. We have to prepare to defend ourselves, and we've learned that a wizard has taken over the kingdom of Staggeria." King Byron said. "We're not sure of what we'll be doing but we'll figure it out but for now, Rest, get to know each other, tomorrow is to be celebrated, and we will have a surprise for you and your families." King Darius said.
We looked at each other, and nodded. "Also, Carlisa I'm sorry about how my children have treated you and I will be sure they will learn not to be that way myself and my wife didn't raise them to be this way, and if they give you trouble you and Cole have my permission to say no or defend yourselves, that goes for the rest of you." He said firmly. "Thank you." we all said. "Now, we'll send in your families, and some food and then have you get some rest okay?" He asked. We all nodded. "Alright Good evening." he said. "Good evening." we all said.
Once they were gone and we were sure that they couldn't hear we began to talk, "Did you get into too much trouble?" I asked worriedly. He chuckled a little, "Thankfully it was only a light Reprimand." he said ruefully. "You're lucky." Bora said. Cole nodded, I sighed and laid back Cole adjusted himself so that I could lean on him, the others did the same for the rest of the group. We nodded off for the time being as the dragons spoke to each other.
