Wanda marches in perfect step towards Admiral Richard Starr's office. Her shoes click lightly against the white tile flooring that lines the halls. It was cheap tilling. The kind that every place lays down when trying to save a buck. Her short blond hair that really wasn’t her natural hair color bounces as she walks brushing gently against her ear. She takes a quick glance through a window of one of the offices that line the halls. Seeing another stressed out JAG officer sitting at their desk trying to figure everything out. Reading a Legal sized piece of paper probably filled with allegations against another military personal. Her white pants slightly wrapped around her legs move stiffly as she walks. She wears a white shirt that has her pins that she has earned throughout her years of being a Seal then moving to JAG. She holds her hat underneath the crook of her elbow. The bottom half of a Trident tattoo shows from the bottom of her white sleeve that was being pushed up from the way that she was holding her hat. She salutes the guard that was standing in front of a door to the secretary's office. The guard salutes her back as she walks into the room. It was a little bigger than the rest of the rooms where other JAG officers had their offices. There was a small wood veneer desk that sat in the corner of the room that faced the door which Wanda had just walked through. On the right side of the room was a set of French doors that lead into Admiral Starr’s office. There was the secretary who was typing very fast at her computer. She didn’t even notice Wanda had walked. Till Wanda was almost to the secretary’s desk. “Lieutenant Potts. What can I help you with?” She says standing up and adjusting the navy skirt that she was wearing. “I have a meeting with Admiral.” Wanda replies. “He told me that I should be waiting for you. I believe that you can go in.” “Thank you, Jaz.” Wanda turns away from the secretary that goes back to her furious typing on her keyboard hunched over it like she was almost protecting it from something. Wanda gently knocks on the door. She waits for a response. "Come in." A male voice replies. She opens the door and walks in, "Lieutenant Potts reporting for duty, Sir." She stands solid like a brick wall staring at the wall in front of her. Her feet were so close together that you couldn’t even stick a piece of paper in between them. "At ease, soldier." Wanda goes at ease losing her stance so she wasn't so much of a brick wall; only moving her feet so they were shoulder length apart. "Lieutenant, while we have a minute I have a question to ask you but, please have a seat, we are waiting for one more person.” Wanda takes a seat in one of the large leather chairs in front of a large wooden desk. She crosses her feet at the ankles and points them to the other side. She places her hat on top of her lap along with her hands. She looks around the familiar room. The wood paneling was different from the white drywall that had lined every other corner of the building. It was a slightly darker color than the real oak desk that was right in front of her. The desk held minimal items. Everything seemed to have its own place. Pens, pencils, a picture that held his wife, Maire, and Wanda holding a degree. Not even the file folders seemed out of place. The only thing that seemed to be out of place was her and the slightly overfilled trash right next to a small table that matched the desk. That held a little coffee bar. A freshly brewed pot of coffee filled Wanda's senses. Above the coffee pot was a flag, framed not a single wrinkle in it. "What is your question, Admiral?" She asks even though Wanda already knew what kind of question he would be asking her. She looks at the balding man, with what is left of his hair is gray and short. He wears something similar to what Wanda is wearing but only with a black overcoat, a tie, the metals are different, the only thing in common was the little Navy Seal pin. "Are you still hanging in there?" "Yes sir." He raises an eyebrow at her; he knows that it is a lie but won't force it. If she was honest then things might not go to plan. "Rehab?" "Excellent." A partial lie. It was partially going great but her body still wanted everything that made her feel numb. Even now sitting in front of him she wanted something, anything to get the pain to go away. A pain that will never go away. In all reality it isn't picky drugs or alcohol. "You're still coming over for dinner with Marie and I." "Yes, sir. What are we having or don't you know?" "Your favorite." "Mac and cheese?" She asks hopefully but doesn’t get an answer. The Admiral smiles at her before getting up out of his own leather chair and walks over to a small table where a pile of file folders and a coffee pot with white ceramic cup lined up in orderly fashion. Wanda didn’t notice the folders. He looks down at his watch and shakes his head. He tucks one file folder under his arm and grabs two cups and files then up with coffee. He walks back towards his desk and hands Wanda a cup. "Thank you." She says taking a sip out of it. A person knocks at the door before entering. "Lieutenant Shepherd reporting for duty, sir." The person says. Wanda looks up from her spot in her chair and sets the cup down on the desk. She was about to stand up but before she could, the Admiral spoke. "Take a seat, Lieutenant ." The Lieutenant takes a seat in the chair next to her and looks at her. "Ma'am." Wanda gives a curt nod at the Lieutenant 's acknowledgment. "Commander Marge," the Admiral starts sighing, looking unpleased at the situation for what Wanda didn’t know,"was headed down the highway when a car coming down the same road pushed her off the road making her fall into the pit below. I want you two to find out who did this and why." The Admiral says looking at both of them. Wanda looks at him puzzled. She usually works alone, unless you count files as people, especially after the incident. The Lieutenant sitting next to her also looks confused probably because he has never had to work with anyone else in a long time or even before. Unless you were one of the higher ups then you don’t get cases. "Sir, I usually work alone." Both of them speak together at the same time then look at each other. "I know but the both of you need a partner sooner rather than later. The people upstairs are starting to get annoyed that both of you don't have partners. Also you were the one who wanted to see what it is like to be a real JAG Officer other than filing papers." He says holding the folder out to point towards Wanda. The Admiral smiles but his lips don’t curve up just stay in a straight line. Wanda slowly nods, realizing that she now has to work with someone instead of at her own pace and messy style that would make many go crazy. "Here is her file and everything else that we have managed to get. Dismissed." They both get up and stand at attention. "Ay, ay, sir." Wanda quickly grabs the folder and leaves with Lieutenant. They walk around the corner saluting the man at the door once again. They both walk down the same hallway that they had come from. Wanda hands the file to Lieutenant Shepard and lets him skim through it first. Once Wanda gets into her office, stacks of file folders cover most of her desk and one of her chairs. She moves the file folders off the chair. "Okay, I think we should go..." She turns around to find that the Lieutenant hasn't followed her. She watches his silhouette enter his office. She sighs and goes over to the Lieutenant's office; only a few office doors down the way from her. "Hi." She says sitting down in a chair. His office was neat and organized; everything looked to have a place just like the Admiral’s nothing out of its place. There was one singular plant on top of one of the filing cabinets. A sudden wave of envy overcame her. Wanda only could wish for a plant in her office but she knew that she would have killed it within five seconds of having it. Remembering the plants that many people got her or she got herself that ended up dying from lack of water or not enough sunlight. The Lieutenant sits down at his chair behind his desk and starts to type away at something. "Hi." He says not looking up from his computer. Wanda grabs the file that was sitting out of place on his desk and opens it. She starts to read it. She finds out that someone had gone to the family but no one wanted anything to do with it. Interesting she thought. Motive maybe. She reads the autopsy and the other papers in the folder. She reads all of the papers trying not to miss any information that may be interesting. Tossing the folder back on to his desk he looks up from his typing and looks at her. "So how do you want to figure this out?" He asks not to look at her. Wanda gets a little irritated at this not really understanding way she got angry at him for this. "I say we go to the crash site and then look at the car in case someone missed something. Maybe ask around about her at the base that she was located in. Then maybe the family. Ask them why they didn’t want anything to do with their daughter." "But we have photo's and statements." "And the photos don't show everything neither do statements." "Yeah, but why waste the day or two to do all of that? Signed statements and photographs that have been taken by a professional are all we really need." "I want to see their responses , and how they react to the questions. Also there is only one statement and that is from the police report which is not a statement...What are you doing?" Wanda asks since he never did stop typing on his keyboard other than the brief pause to look at her. "My job." "Obviously, but more specifically? " "Writing opening statements for people, who actually go into the courtroom but they need a strong one. Also filling which is something that you may have not learned yet. “ Wanda looks at him. She knew that she wasn’t the best organizer but she wasn’t the worst in the world. “Now if you excuse me I have opening statements to write and files to file." He says with an attitude that Wanda didn't really care for. She takes a deep breath and stands up grabbing the file folder. "Fine, I will be leaving at Oh-seven hundred if you care." She says looking down at her watch. “Asshole” she says grumbling to herself. She bumps into someone and folders go everywhere. "I am so sorry." She says bending down to help the person which she had just ran into. Which was common for everyone to do the walls being so close in this part of the office. "Oh you're fine." A familiar voice rings out, reassuring her that everything was good. Wanda picks up the last folder and stands up, looking at the black hair women. She wears a green uniform rather than the white version that Wanda is wearing. "Well, I will be darn." The woman says looking at Wanda in a thick Southern accent.
