The school was bustling with students running towards their classrooms. Time was ticking by quickly, and certain students didn't need any more tardy on their records. Such students included Bryan, who zipped past his siblings to head to his classroom.
As he walked in, he bumped into someone, knocking them both down. "Argh…" Bryan rubbed his head before looking up to who he bumped onto. "Sorry, man. I didn't see you. You okay?"
"NO, you nearly broke my glasses!" Jackran hissed and grabbed his glasses to check for any cracks. He sighed in relief at the lack of broken glass before he turned to see the other. "Oh, it's you. History Nerd."
"Gamer Boy." Bryan chuckled as he got up, holding out a hand.
Jackran flicked his hand. "I don't need your help," he huffed and forced himself up.
"Geez, man, relax," Bryan rolled his eyes at the usual grumpy response. "I already said that I'm sorry. i really didn't mean to hurt ya,"
"Shut up, History Man," Jackran brushed off the dust from his jacket before heading to his seat.
Bryan sighed and shook his head. Jackran was the same as ever… why was he even surprised?
He walked to his desk, where he sat between two girls. The first one with curls beamed and waved. "Hey, Bry!" She grinned. "You're late!"
"Hey, not yet, Galilea!" Bryan laughed. "I'm not late yet,"
"Yeah, two minutes left," the other girl snorted. "Very close, though, why so late?"
"The usual," Bryan shrugged. "Bedroom chores,"
"Damn," Galilea hummed. "Not even my Dads makes me do all the chores in my room, and I'm an only child! How about you, Klarissa?"
"My Moms help me out every morning," Klarissa replied. "We sleep in one apartment without any rooms, remember?"
"…Oh yeah, oops," Galilea rubbed her head. "Sorry!"
Bryan giggled. He adored his friends. They knew just what to say to lift his spirits and distract him from his woes.
The hours passed by. Long hours that made most of the students fall asleep in their classrooms. Finally, the school bell rang by lunch time. The students wasted no time to run out of their classrooms.
Bryan was excited, heading out of the classroom. He carried history book while he ran, eager to flip through the pages while he and his friends ate. He was heading to the cafeteria when he bumped into Jackran once more, causing both of them to fall yet again.
"Ack!" Bryan fell with a thud. "Wow… we gotta stop falling with each other," he joked.
"Are you… argh!" Jackran glared. "Are you doing this on purpose!?"
"No, I'm not," Bryan sighed and stood up, helping the other up, even when the other shoved him away. "Sorry."
"Well, Gamer Boy, I already said I'm sorry," Bryan huffed, folding his arms. "You don't have to such a stubborn mess,"
"How dare you--?!" Jackran growled, stomping towards him. He gritted his teeth and raised his fist, but he was stopped by a strong grip on his wrist.
"Woah, woah there," Galilea calmly spoke as she and Klarissa intervened, going in between the boys. "Take it easy, you two. What's going on here?"
"Well," Bryan sighed. "I accidentally bumped onto Jackran… again. I tried to apologize, but he wouldn't listen and he thought I was doing this on purpose..."
"Because you were!" Jackran snapped a glare at Bryan. "You kept bumping onto me on purpose!"
"Jackran, stop that!" Klarissa scolded. "It's not Bryan's fault! Leave him be!"
"Stay out of this, new girl." Jackran turned his glare at her. "You just came here this year, and you have no idea who Bryan really is!"
"But I do," Galilea frowned and went to face the boy. "So I don't get why you suddenly turned on Bryan. On us."
"It's because you two are such jerks!" Jackran shoved her away.
"Gal!" Klarissa got her in a protective hold. She glared daggers at the boy.
Bryan frowned at the action and went in front of his friends. "Jackran, please..."
"No!" Jackran spat out his words. "Leave me alone, History Nerd. You and your band of little misfits." He scowled before stomping off.
"Jackran!" Galilea tried to go after him the other girl kept her from leaving.
"Leave him." Klarissa huffed. "He'll cool himself off." She turned to Bryan. "Are you okay, Bryan?"
"Yeah," Bryan nodded. "I'm okay. Just... upset that Jackran keeps reminding me that… he hates me, and it's my fault why we're no longer friends…" He sighed.
"Huh, that's news to me," Klarissa hummed. "You two got along in the past?"
"Yeah, they did," Galilea nodded. "They used to be so close, but suddenly, something made Jackran turn against us. He stopped being friends with us… and we never knew why…" She rubbed her arm.
"Oh," Klarissa's eyes softened. "That's… tragic…"
"I know..." Bryan sighed. "I have no idea when we began to insult and hate each other like… that. I mean, he always knew I love history, and I always knew he loves video games. We were so different, and I thought that's why we were so close but, I guess…" He clutched his book. "It just tore us apart..."
Galilea whimpered. She got out of Klarissa's hold to move beside her friend. "Bry…"
Bryan winced and turned away. "See you girls in the cafeteria…"
The two watched him leave. Klarissa sighed. "I feel sad for Bryan…"
"I know…" Galilea agreed.
Klarissa huffed. "Jackran is such a jerk,"
"Klara, calm down," Galilea shook her head. "There must've been a little misunderstanding between the two. I'm sure they'll work things out eventually… right?"
"I doubt it," Klarissa huffed and folded her arms. "They'll never get along to settle things out, just look at their interaction,"
"I guess…," Galilea hummed but she shook her head once more. "I know they'll get along again. They're my oldest best friends! I'm sure they'll be talking to each other sooner than we expect!"
"That's what you said earlier this year when you arranged that 'friendship camp' before Winter Break for them," Klarissa deadpanned.
"I know, I know, that was a fail, but this time," Galilea smirked. "I have a plan,"
Klarissa chuckled, eyes softening at her. "Of course you do,"
