“You cannot die? That doesn’t make sense.” I questioned
Khaos simply shrugged “maybe bad wording on my part, because i can control my very soul even if my body disappears my soul will remain, though i might not be able to interact with the world anymore i will still be alive unless i want to die.”
“Wait wait wait, how old are you? If you’re immortal as you say then you could be very old no?”
“Yeah your correct, in seconds i’m about four trillion seconds old, at least that's how long i have been conscious” Khaos replied
“Yeah… four trillion seconds. How old is that in years?” i asked
“Remember i don’t know what a year is for you, this planet for example has days about one hundred twenty thousand seconds long, and years about twenty million seconds long. The day and year cycle on different planets differ massively. You will have to say how many seconds are in earth's year”
“Ummm i thought you would know that, considering how much you know about earth.” I responded.
“I only know what that scientist knows about earth, i never learnt about it myself. And it seems here some of the information has been lost to time.”
“Okay– well, it's umm sixty times sixty times twenty four times three hundred sixty five for a year so its…” i said trying to calculate it at the end
“About thirty one million seconds long, i’m about a hundred twenty seven thousand years old then.”
The fuck? I expected a few hundred but a hundred thousand? “Okay well um, that's uhhhh.” I said stupidly, I had absolutely nothing to say. I was just in shock
“You won’t be able to live as long as i will in that body of yours by the way, when i said you don’t age i ment for the timescale you are used to, you can live up to about four hundred without major health complications just from the fact that this world is much less hostile to someone not made of mana like yourself.” Khaos told me.
I wonder what four hundred years would feel like, I was only twenty but I felt like I had lived a long time. But compared to Khaos
My thoughts were interrupted when along the ‘road’ if you could even call it that, there was a house. Not big enough to be called a mansion but too small to be called a basic house. Khaos seemed to be walking straight to the front entrance.
“Do you know the person who lives here?” i asked
“No but from what I know this is a kind man who used to be the knight commander in his prime, and he was in the top 10 strongest in the human kingdom on this planet.”
“That doesn’t explain why we are here.”
“The way I learnt magic isn’t something you can do, or more like is something neither of us wish for you to experience. This man is a voidworlder like you. He isn’t from earth but he has all the tools you need to succeed, and we hope that he helps you train while I go do some things.” Khaos explained
“So basically a babysitter. Just lovely.” i said snarkily.
Khaos didn’t reply but just simply knocked on the door and waited till it opened.
Out came an old man who had perfect posture and had clearly chiselled muscles which hadn’t deteriorated in his age. He was a complete contrast to Khaos, who was in a body who looked like in their teenage years and with a body so frail it looked pitiful, even if the one inhabiting it was a god incarnate themselves.
“Why have you come here and perturbed my home?” the old man said while speaking in a commanding tone fit for a noble.
“I would like to ask you to help-” Khaos said before being cut off
“Why would I help someone like you? What do you want? Food?” The ‘kind’ old man interrupted.
“She's a voidworlder who just arrived in this world and needs help. Also I suggest you fix your tone, while I am polite while asking for a favour, do not take me for a beggar.” Khaos said sternly while a subtle yet noticeable rise in the air pressure happened making my ears pop.
“You can control your intent to such a degree and yet have such a frail body. Interesting, alright I will humour you. That is as long as you yourself can hold your own against me.” the old man said while pulling out a sword from seemingly nowhere and smiling.
Khaos chuckled before responding “I forget how often your kind can be convinced as long as they see something interesting.
