The Lost Region

The Blue God

The Blue God

May 05, 2024

I readied myself.

I knew that I could win the upcoming battle against the horde, but I also knew it wouldn't be easy.

After all, it's the Lost Region... it wouldn't be right if it were easy.

Finally, the time of battle was upon us. There was only around 20 meters between the horde and I now. It would probably only take the ones at the front around 30 more seconds to cover that distance.

First things first, I needed to find some of their weaknesses. The horde consisted of a wide variety of mana-beast species; some orcs, some night hounds, some wyverns, and maybe a few aforementioned species' undead varients, meaning they also likely had a ghoul with them to raise the undead. Most of these species were rather common, excluding the wyverns and ghoul. But the species rarity itself wasn't what made each of these mana-beasts so dangerous.

It was the pure fact that they were mana-beasts from the Lost Region. Because of that, they had all had years upon years to cultivate their power, increasing their individual rank. Judging by the mana gathering around each of them, my original prediction was definitely correct. They were all at least Godly-tier.

I snapped myself out of my analysing state, and knew what I needed to do. I activated [Counter], one of my 3 abilities. [Counter] showed me possible weaknesses and strengths of my enemy, listed on a screen on the palm of my hand that only I could see.

It went as follows;

Godly-tier Mana-beast (x 1583)

Strengths
- Numbers
- Physical strength
- Revival (from Ghoul)
- Mana proficiency (from Wyverns)

Weaknesses
- Arrogance
- Unintelligent
- Uncoordinated
- Reliance (on Ghoul + Wyverns)

I scanned the information and quickly deduced that my best shot at victory was to focus on taking out the Ghoul and few Wyverns. I had a plan in my head now.

10 seconds. I had 10 seconds until they were upon me. Well, they had 10 seconds until they were upon me. I actually had a lot more than that.

I activated my second ability, [Time Freeze]. [Time Freeze] allowed me to pause time for around 5 minutes. The only drawback was that it took a lot mana - however, I had mana to spare.

I knew I couldn't waste anymore time. I activated my third and final ability, [Anomaly]. [Anomaly] granted me insane superstrength and speed, while having the appearance of blue lightning sprawling over my body.

My eyes glew with an intense blue that would've lit up the void. I then took one final deep breath, before I began the slaughter.

I charged at the horde- well, actually it's more accurate to say that I disappeared from my original position and reappeared at the horde, due to my speed. I scanned the front lines, before concluding that the Ghoul was instead residing at the back, but luckily, the Wyverns were, in fact, in front.

3 minutes. 3 minutes were left of [Time Freeze], and the fact is that it takes so much mana, I wouldn't be able to activate it again after it stops. I had to get rid of the Wyverns now. If I couldn't at least take them out before [Time Freeze]  finished, my entire plan would burn to ash.

I leapt at least 60 meters into the air in order to reach the height that the Wyverns had been flying at. I twisted my body over itself, so that my left leg was leading me, and sent a kick into one of their heads. Obviously, it didn't have a notable effect right now, but once [Time Freeze] stopped, it would fall to the ground, dead.

I grabbed onto the dead Wyvern's little tufts of fur, and climbed onto it's back as a vantage point to find the remaining Dragon rip-offs. From what I could tell, there were 2 others.

I leapt from the back of this one, and found myself higher into the sky than the Wyverns.  I allowed myself to fall straight back down onto the spine of one of the remaining Wyverns. This attack had so much force behind it, that it broke one of [Time Freeze]'s effects, and shot a hole straight through the torso of the attacked Wyvern. I landed back down on the ground slightly rockily, but just about managing to stick the landing.

There was 1 remaining. And there was 1 minute left on [Time Freeze].

I put all of my strength into the leap this time, sending me straight at the last remaining Wyvern. The ground beneath me buckled, and I realised that when [Time Freeze] stopped, the ground would completely explode from the force of [Anomaly]. Oh well.

I was sent flying at the remaining Wyvern and forced myself straight through the beast's foul head, shooting a hole where it's brain would've been. I then fell back down to the ground, once again injuring the battleground.

30 seconds. I knew I didn't have enough time to find the Ghoul and kill it, but that would probably be pretty easy to do now that the Wyverns were gone, even with time flowing properly.

The horde reanimated itself, and the Wyverns fell to the ground simultaneously. This didn't alarm the other mana-beasts - however, I couldn't tell whether this was from arrogance or stupidity. I guess it could be both.

I didn't have a moment to rest, and I knew that. If the Ghoul managed to make it's way to the Wyvern's corpses, it could raise them as an undead. Undead were never as strong as their living counterparts, but if the living variant was strong, they still wouldn't exactly be weak.

I once again activated [Anomaly], feeling a small amount of my mana convert to the blue lightning covering my body.

In an instant, I circled around the horde, finding my way to the back. There it was. It's skeletal face and red eyes gleamed in the darkness of Hell. A tattered white hooded cloak draped around it's bones.

The Ghoul itself isn't that strong. Instead, what makes it strong is that it has complete control of any undead it raises, along with the fact that compared to other mana-beasts, it's quite intelligent. However, in human standards, it's still not even close to average intelligence.

It noticed me coming around the wall of beasts in front of it, and spouted something in a language unknown to me, before a bunch of undead Orcs and Night hounds attacked me all at once. Dealing with these mana-beasts, even at Godly-tier, was still a piece of cake for me. One [Anomaly] enforced blow was enough to deal with all of them. A blue shockwave covered the ground, as debris flew away alongside the beaten undead, reminding me just how strong [Anomaly] truly was.

I sped at the Ghoul, managing to get to the other side of it, before it could command any undead to block me. I landed with my hands together in a slicing motion, while crouched on the ground. It took the Ghoul a few seconds to process what happened, before it's entire body slid apart in one clean cut from head to toe.

Finally, it was just the remaining Orcs and Night hounds. Sure, there were a lot of them, but with how weak they were, they couldn't so much as touch me.

I jumped into the horde and closed my eyes, purely focusing on sensing any mana approaching me. Mana-beast upon mana-beast leaped at me, clawed at me and swung at me, but none of it mattered, as whenever I punched or kicked even once, around 20 of them were taken out. I skillfully weaved my way between all of their blows and finally finished it, with a single full-powered punch to the ground. The ground instantly shook and cracked, sending an ending torrent of debris at each of the remaining beasts. And finally the last Night hound fell before me.

The glow in my eyes became unimaginably intense, as the lightning whipping around my form seemed to almost pick up speed in excitement. I stood atop a mountain of corpses, each one dismantled in a completely unique way.

Blood covered me, but none of it was my own.

-A God.

I smirked a little, knowing that everybody else was thinking the same thing.
