I sit down on a chair and start picking up some food that is in front of me and placing it on my plate.
During the meal, we talked about trivial and unimportant things.
"I forgot to tell you, but I'm going to start training with the knight captain." William says.
Wow, that was very unexpected!
So that was why he was there today?
Now things are starting to make sense...
Richard and Hera look at him with surprised faces.
"This is amazing!" My father says.
"When are you going to start?" Hera asks.
"I think next week. When we're home, I'll tell you more details." He answers.
So he's going to start training with a real swordsman, huh?
That's great for him. I feel like he can learn a lot more than I could by training with someone who is truly professional. If I'm not careful, William might end up being stronger than me.
I confess that I would feel a little humiliated...
But, he is on the right path. I should do the same, try to find a mage to teach me magic.
Unfortunately, I don't know any mages in the kingdom or village. I believe it is more complicated to become a wizard, as it depends much more on the amount of mana and control than the technique itself, but I may be overestimating mages.
After dinner, we all go to our rooms, it's late.
In my room, I read the rest of Arkone's biography book, with a candle holder next to my bed, illuminating the place, and then I go to sleep looking at the stars through the window.
...
Hmm? I woke up?
What time is it? It must be late...
More important than that, I need to pee!
I get up from the bed, the room is completely dark, but my vision can still adapt.
Bathroom! I need a bathroom!
If I'm not mistaken, there is a bathroom in one of the hall's corridors.
I quickly open the bedroom door and walk down the stairs.
Slightly, I look outside the windows and all the buildings are out, I must have woken up in the middle of the night with a full bladder.
I knew I shouldn't have had so much apple juice!
Going down the stairs, I see the double doors that lead outside, and two hallways, one on the right and the other on the left of the room.
Which of these was where the bathroom was??
Left or right, left or right...
Screw it! I'll go whatever my heart tells me!
And he's telling me to go to the right!
Going to the right, I enter the corridor and see the torches well spaced from each other, making the environment dark at intervals.
The stones appear to be very old, with cobwebs and moss on some parts of the floor.
This corridor is longer than usual...
There, a door!
I walk quickly and open the door on the side, finding myself in a type of cleaning room, with brooms, buckets of water, dirty cloths and some rustic cleaning utensils on shelves.
Damn it!
My bladder will explode if I don't...
The corridor still extends, however, I can see a staircase leading down, into the darkness at the end of it.
I should go back ... But my curiosity is getting the better of me!
Following the stairs, I go down, and at the end, I come across a door larger than normal, made of wood that is already old.
As I approach the door, I can hear two people talking very quietly.
I then decide to knock on the door.
*Knock Knock*
Footsteps echo behind the door. They get closer, until the door slowly opens only partially.
From the crack in the door, a knight appears and stares at me. It seems like he wants to hide something that is behind him...
It gives me goosebumps, I don't know why. Maybe because of the context I'm in.
"Who are you?" He asks me in a deep, serious voice.
"I'm Light, a guest of the princess." I answer. "I wanted to know where the bathroom is..."
When I glance at what's behind the knight, I see what appears to be a huge metallic structure.
I really want to see what this is!
"Uff..." The man sighs. "The bathroom is-"
"Is it here??" As he answers me, I unexpectedly open the door, revealing what he was trying to hide!
When the door opens completely, the guard doesn't know what to do.
Behind him, in the distance, a large safe made of iron with large locks and clearly massive.
Another guard near the safe observes me and is instantly taken aback.
I shouldn't have seen that, I suppose.
"Hey, you can't see what's in here!" The guard in the back says.
The guard in front of me looks terrified.
"Please don't tell anyone what you saw, okay?" The guard closest to me pleads with a shaky voice.
"Okay, okay..." I respond, a little confused by the whole sequence of events...
After that, I turn around and go back up the dimly lit stairs that lead me to the hallway.
What was inside that safe?
Maybe a sea of money?
I don't know. Even so, those guards wouldn't be that scared. They were like I had discovered some secret...
What could make them so desperate like that?
If I think about the possibilities, money is probably the answer, but there are other things that could be there.
During my return, I went to the bathroom that was in the other corridor, as I walked, I kept wondering what was inside that safe.
Maybe money, a powerful artifact, a forbidden book, a magical weapon...
Anything could be there.
However, I didn't keep thinking about it in my head and went to sleep.
...
Birds...
Ugh, it's clear.
Opening my eyes, I see sunlight streaming into the room as the curtains swing.
Today, my family and I are leaving the castle. It was good while it lasted, I felt like a hotel guest.
After my family got together, we had breakfast in the kitchen. Grilled bread with butter and Jaranla juice, a fruit very similar to the orange from my previous world.
After we ate, the king told us that he had prepared a carriage for us at the entrance to the kingdom. We said goodbye to them and went to where our carriage was.
It was a very luxurious carriage, white with blue details on the doors. In front, two horses would guide our destiny. The wheels were large and silver, making them appear shiny.
When we got into the vehicle, a leather sofa and a small table made us comfortable.
But, when the coachman, the man driving the carriage, was about to leave, Ryza hurriedly appeared next to my vehicle window.
"Now that you've met my parents, you can come visit me inside the castle whenever you want..." She says, panting.
"Really? They won't stop me at the entrance?" I ask.
"Of course not, the guards definitely remember your face!" She responds.
I immediately had flashbacks of those guards getting desperate last night, they definitely won't forget my face...
"So it's easier for me to live in the castle!" I say.
"Serious!?"
"I was just joking..." Apparently, she can't understand irony...
"You're hard to understand sometimes, you know that?" She says. "Well, come back safely!"
The coachman then puts the horses to work, and we go to our village.
Along the way, I realized how fast riding a horse is.
I look at my mother, and she is exuding sudden happiness. She's even humming!
"You're happier than usual, Mom..." I say.
"It's the first time I've ridden in a carriage in my life, and to top it off, it's still a royal carriage!" She says.
"I even feel guilty about dirtying this seat..." Richard says.
"Father, buy me a carriage?" William asks innocently.
"Hahaha, if it were that easy, I would have bought one a long time ago." William is a little upset.
Even as the trip progresses, that memory of the safe remains stuck in my mind. It's the kind of thing you can't forget once you've seen it once.
