Merial pov
Looking down at the old man’s house from an open rocky place on a hill. I was in awe at how different the scenery looked from earth. Looking closely in the sky there were what looked like a faint aurora borealis. Looking down on the earth the changes in colour made it look like patterns engraved on the entire world.
“I never got your name.” The old man began.
“Khaos of the Deva, yours?”
“Axmon, son of Aldin.” Axmon answered.
Khaos looked over at me before saying. “Will you do the honours?”
Catching onto his meaning I said “three two one begin.”
A pressure released from Axmon which wasn’t as stable as Khaos’ was earlier but was more powerful. Then the clear sky turned cloudy and it started to rain.
“A water mage, I'm excited to see how you will use that sword along with it.” Khaos said while just watching it happen, not moving an inch
“I do not specialise in water, I just use it to prepare my main attack when it isn’t already raining.” Axmon said while smiling. “What will you do in response?”
Khaos grinned looking for all the world as if he was the stronger one. Well he probably was, but he didn’t look it.
“Nothing for now, I would like to see this magic of yours for now.” Khaos responded while continuing to grin.
Axmon said nothing in response, just simply continued his magic, but it was then that I noticed markings. Not on his body like I remembered from my dream not a day ago, but it was in the air, like a magic circle and glowed a vibrant, almost orange brown. Earth magic i remembered, that combined with the water he just gathered means…
Icicles flew down from the sky onto Khaos who dodged them as if he were walking normally, going only slightly from side to side.
The ice piles started forming which he used to try to trap Khaos but didn’t succeed by what looked like the skin of their teeth every time.
“You won’t be able to properly fight with this magic active.” Axmon said, acting as if he were concerned for this Khaos who had yet to be hit once.
“True enough, let's deal with that then.” Khaos said while his smirk only grew wider.
Khaos’ eyes started glowing bright red, and after raising his right hand slightly then he snapped his fingers. At the same moment as that everything got engulfed in fire. No not engulfed. Each icicle and water drop in the entire sky had been carefully incinerated by a tiny fireball for each one. The sky was clear again, but the water would collect again into clouds and rain again soon enough, so what was he doing?
Axmon looked up and then to Khaos in complete horror “you- you have a godrune?”
Khaos didn’t answer, just simply continued smirking before his eyes turned the same brown as Axmon’s magic circle. The water which hadn’t even collected into droplets yet were frozen solid.
“I like your magic. While it is very mana inefficient it is versatile and powerful in defence, support and offence, plus it's not like you struggle with mana usage do you? So I would say it is a good fit for you if only you combined it with your swordsmanship.” Khaos said, almost teaching Axmon who was slowly being frozen by micro particles of frost.
The brown glow in Khaos iris started to fade and as it did so the air temperature begun to rise back to normal conditions
“How did a monster like you find yourself in such a weak body? I can only imagine the strain on it from partially manifesting a godrune.” Axmon said in shock, the cool demeanour from earlier completely gone.
“Yes well the people who incarnated me didn’t have the liberty of giving me a better body so i just have to gather enough mana to rebuild my body but until then I will be like this.”
“Incarnate? You mean you’re that…”
“Yeah I am and those ‘traitors’ brought me back.” Khaos responded
“A void god.” Axmon said in shock and fear.
