= SARAH POV =
I woke up in the softest sheets I had ever felt. I absolutely crushed it tonight! I finally got her to sleep with me!
I stretched and pulled the sheets back and slipped out onto the wooden floor. I couldn’t quite remember the details of last night as I was so intoxicated, however I do remember seeing Chris on top of me at some point, so that must have meant that things took the turn I wanted it to.
I walked out of the guest room and ran my hands through my messy brown curls. I had been to Chris’s apartment many times and had even slept over before, but nothing I did had ever seemed to get Chris into me, and she was into everybody. I had thought I must be not making it obvious enough that I was into her, but how more obvious could I be by begging her to literally sleep with me every time we hung out?
“Chris? Darling?” I called out but as I walked through the house, I noticed a post-it note on the bar table where we usually sit for drinks of have breakfast. She usually left one there if she had to go out in a hurry and couldn’t wake me up or needed to be at work quickly.
I walked over and picked up the note and read it.
“Went over to Jenny’s, don’t worry I didn’t do anything weird to you last night, though I think you should take it easy today. Also I threw away the weird contract. You can stay as long as you need, free of charge – Chris” read the post-it note.
“What? No!!” I exclaimed to myself. So her hovering over me last night was just her tucking me into the bed? Why am I so friend-zoned?” I sighed and tore up the note in irritation.
I paced up and down. So the thing is, everything I had said last night was a lie. I did need to move out, but I already had an apartment lined up and I didn’t have to move out last night itself. In fact I probably should head back to my apartment and clean up before the agent comes and charges me an arm and a leg for the mess that the party left behind.
The whole drunken contract thing had been brilliant! Well brilliant to me anyway. I had been hanging out with my friend George who was telling me about his situation with his boss, who was asking him to pose as his boyfriend and get paid for it, so he suggested maybe I could do that to Chris, but my parents are really nice! They would love to see me get married to a girl or a guy, so there wasn’t any real reason to pay Chris to be my pretend girlfriend~!
In my drunken state I think I thought I saw an opportunity, to create some weird tenancy agreement contract, which would literally be saying “Hey, Chris, let’s take this relationship to a whole new level”, but it seems that Chris hasn’t see any romantic comedies that involve contracts recently. She was just not getting the signals.
However as I poured myself some orange juice from the fridge, I thought to myself, maybe if I pushed this for a little longer…maybe she would see that I am genuinely interested, I just have to convince her to officially sign the contract, while we are both sober! I know the contract is silly, but Chris is a smart girl, she will eventually realise it and read between the lines, and this whole entire thing will be a beautiful story we can tell to our kids in future.
I clapped my hands together, this plan had to work. I mean was there really a better way to tell someone that I’m into them aside from serving myself up on a platter? It worked with all my previous boyfriends, why wouldn’t it work on Chris? I mean she’s a girl, she would definitely get me much sooner than those dense guys I used to date.
I mentally patted myself on the back as I washed the cup and thought of what to wear to go settle the apartment later.
