After arriving at Gae Baek-hyun's house, Ji-Eun asked, "So what are we doing here?" However, Min-young gives no response.
"Dude will you cut it out with the silent treatment!"
"Put these on," said Min-young. He handed her a pair of gloves. "And remember. Don't touch anything."
"Okie-Dokie"
The two went in and decided to check the top floor first. Min-young started looking around the room very carefully. He didn't find anything suspicious whatsoever. Ji-Eun just observed Min-young looking around the room. "So what exactly are we looking for?" asked Ji-Eun.
"To be honest...I don't know."
"WHAT?! SO YOU'RE SAYING-"
"Keep it down will you."
Min-young finds a photo hanging on the wall. It was a picture of two people standing together. He takes his phone out and takes a picture of the photo. He immediately sends the picture to Nam-gil asking him to find out who the two people in the photo are.
"Anything in the photo that you are interested in?" asked Ji-Eun.
"They are both wearing lab coats. They might know something."
"I see..."
"Anyway, let's go downstairs. Nothing is interesting over here." The two went downstairs into the living room. The entire house seemed pretty clean. Gae Baek-hyun was a pretty organized person. In the living room, Min-young and Ji-Eun saw several photos hanging on the walls. Each photo had one person in common. "This person is probably Gae Baek-hyun," said Min-young.
"He looks very young in these photos."
"It's because these are old photos."
"So you gonna take the picture of these as well?"
"No, not all of them. Just one."
"Why only one?"
"Cuz I think this photo will be helpful. Plus it's the only photo that has been taken recently. The rest are just family photos."
"How do you know it's been taken recently?"
"Well...there are two reasons. The first reason is that the frame of this photo is new. The second reason is that if you look closely, all these photos have been taken in the same place. But in this photo, the place was redecorated in such a way it almost looks like a totally different place. But if you look closely, it's the same place."
Two people were standing together in the photo. Their hands were on each other's shoulders. They seemed to be good friends. Min-young was about to take a picture of the photo when his phone's battery suddenly died. "How annoying," Min-young complained. Just then Ji-Eun took out her phone and took a picture of the photo. Min-young looked at her as if he was trying to remember something. He then turned and continued to observe the room.
"Dude, can you not even say a thank you?" asked Ji-Eun.
Min-young sighed and said, "Thank you."
"See! It wasn't that hard."
Min-young ignored her. He noticed a watch on one of the shelves. He picked it up and observed it closely. "It's an old Rolex watch. Looks about a few years old. It doesn't work anymore."
"How do you know the watch is old?"
"I have the same watch. However, mine still works."
"Hmmm..."
"What?"
"Nothing. I just didn't know some people still kept old relics of the past." Min-young never knew that such words would emotionally damage him one day. "It still works. That's all that matters."
Ji-Eun laughed, "What? Did I hurt your pride?"
"Shut up."
After finding nothing useful in the living room, the two went down to the basement. The basement was very dirty and filled with cobwebs. This place gave chills to Ji-Eun. It was so dark that they could barely see anything. Ji-Eun turned on the flashlight in her phone and searched for the light switch. After finding the light switch and turning it on Ji-Eun said, "That's much better." There was only one tube light in the basement which was pretty dull but just enough to light the basement. They looked around and noticed nothing strange.
"Carpentry tools, an old dusty cupboard, some ragged clothes, wood, an old fishing rod. Just the usual stuff you find in a basement," said Min-young.
"So I guess we can go then?" asked Ji-Eun. Just then she noticed a cockroach right next to her feet. She screamed as if she saw a ghost and immediately moved back. Min-young looked at the cockroach and then looked at Ji-Eun. "A person who knocked down three police officers to the ground got scared of a cockroach. What irony," said Min-young.
"Shut up."
"What?... Did I hurt your pride?"
"WHY YOU!!" Ji-Eun ran toward Min-young and grabbed him by the collar and threw him toward a cupboard. Min-young immediately got back up and said, "You are assaulting an on-duty police officer again." However, Ji-Eun didn't care anymore. She ran toward Min-young and punched him in the gut. Min-young then fell back toward the cupboard. At this instant, Min-young noticed something strange.
Ji-Eun turned back and held her hand and whispered to herself, "Ouch. Why does my hand hurt?"
She then turned back to see Min-young staring at the cupboard. "What's wrong?" she asked.
"The cupboard just moved a little when I hit it." Min-young bent down and noticed small wheels under the cupboard. There were also marks on the ground showing that the cupboard was moved very often. Min-young struggled to push the cupboard aside.
"Geez, you even struggled to move a cupboard that had wheels on it?"
"Well, thanks to a certain someone, one of the wheels came off. Can't you see the cupboard looks a little tilted right now?"
"Ahem."
After moving the cupboard, they saw a door. "Horror movie vibes," said Ji-Eun. Min-young tried to open the door and realized it was locked. He then took out a small pouch from his jacket's pocket. "What's that?" asked Ji-Eun. However, Min-young did not reply. Clenching her fists in anger Ji-Eun whispered, "This bastard." From his pouch, Min-young took out a set of Lock Picks. Seeing this Ji-Eun immediately knew what he was up to. After a few minutes, the door was open.
"Where'd you learn how to do that?" asked Ji-Eun.
"It's just a skill I picked up when I was in my military service."
The two went in. Ji-Eun turned on the lights. To their surprise, they noticed that the room was awfully clean compared to the basement. It was a pretty small room. It had a big desk with a lot of lab equipment on it. Min-young observed the table.
"There are quite a lot of plants in this room," said Ji-Eun. Min-young turned to look at the plants.
"Give me your phone."
"Need to take another photo?"
"No, I need to make a call."
"Call who?"
"The police station."
"What for?"
"Drugs."
"Drugs?... WAIT SO YOU MEAN THESE PLANTS ARE-"
"I said keep it down, didn't I?"
"Sorry..."
Min-young reported the drugs to the police station. "You should go now," said Min-young.
"Why?"
"Cuz when the police arrives and they question me what you are doing here, what do you think I'm supposed to say, huh?"
"Ohhh, that makes sense." The two went outside the house. While leaving, Ji-Eun turned to face Min-young and said, "Bye." Min-young just waved his hand. She then walked away. Min-young thought to himself, "I feel like I've seen her somewhere before. Just can't put my finger on it."
After some time, the police as well as the Serious Crimes Unit Team A arrived. Min-young took all of them to the small room in the basement. "Holy shit!" said Ji-Won. The forensic team came in. "I didn't find this place the last time I checked," said Nam-gil
"That's cuz it was covered by a cupboard. Even I almost missed it," said Min-young.
"Anything else you found in this house?"
"Other than the photo I sent you, nothing else."
"The two people wearing the lab coats? Yeah...I can kinda see why you sent me that photo."
Nam-gil ordered everyone to search for more drugs in the house. Ji-Won asked Nam-gil, "So...Captain, do you think this biochemii-dude was a drug dealer?"
"Possible," Nam-gil answered. After searching the entire house thoroughly and finding no drugs except in the basement they decided to stop searching any further. The forensic team put all the drugs that were found into the police cruisers. Min-young stood there in deep thought.
"What are you thinking?" asked Nam-gil.
"Nothing, just that the amount of drugs were too less. It's possible that he could be a drug dealer. But drug dealers usually have a load of drugs and money stored somewhere in their house. Anyway I'm heading home for now. Today was kinda hectic."
"Yeah...you know...I thought you were coming tomorrow."
"I was actually gonna come tomorrow. But I just happened to stumble into this stuff on arriving here."
"I see...well take care then. I'll see you tomorrow."
Min-young nodded and left toward the nearest subway station. As he was walking toward the station he felt that he was forgetting something. After arriving he noticed that Ji-Eun was waiting there at the entrance. "Why're you still here?" asked Min-young.
Ji-Eun turned to see Min-young and said, "Give me your number."
"What for?"
"Do you want the photo or not?"
"Aahhh...I knew I was forgetting something." He gave Ji-Eun his number. "How did you know I was gonna come here?"
"We came here the same way. So I just thought you would go back home this way as well."
"Hmmm...well I guess you're not as dumb as I thought you were."
"WHAT DID YOU-....Never mind. I'll get going then. Bye," said Ji-Eun. However, she then noticed that they were both going the same way. Ji-Eun thought to herself, "Why are we both going the same way? I already said bye. God this is so awkward."
The awkwardness grew when she realized that they were both boarding the same train. "No no no...this can't be happening right now. I can't take this awkward feeling anymore."
They were standing together in the train. The situation was so awkward for Ji-Eun that she couldn't even look at Min-young. However Min-young on the other hand did not care at all. When the train arrived at the next stop, Ji-Eun was shocked to see the huge crowd of people standing outside. "Oh no." The doors opened and the huge crowd of people came inside. The compartment became so crowded that there was almost no space left to breathe. Min-young and Ji-Eun were pushed towards each other. Ji-Eun was trying to stand properly when she realized something. "He has muscles..."
"Are you okay?" asked Min-young.
"Huh?...y-yeah...I'm fine." Ji-Eun's face flushed red.
"You don't look fine though. Your face just got red. Are you sure you're okay?"
"I SAID I'M FINE!"
