"What if I tell you I am your husband-to-be, Rhia Kimberly?" He said, as Rhia's lips trembled. It was as if she no longer knew who her parents were; she couldn't believe all this was happening. She managed to compose herself. "I don't care," she said in a low but firm tone. Zander stared at her; this was the first time any human had spoken to him in such a way.
Just then, the doorbell rang. There was a brief pause as they both shifted their gaze to the door. Zander stood and walked to the door, while Rhia quickly hid inside the large wardrobe. Opening the door revealed Mr. and Mrs. Kimberly. They all sat down, with Zander sitting with his legs crossed, lazily staring at them like he had no care in the world.
"We are looking for her..." Mr. Kimberly spoke, but was rudely interrupted by Zander. "We made a deal." His warning gaze and dangerous tone made Mr. and Mrs. Kimberly shiver in fear. "Y-yes," Mr. Kimberly managed to speak.
Rhia used her palm to cover her mouth, preventing herself from making any noise she would regret later. This was the first time she had heard her father sound so helpless; she had always known him as the man of authority. Many thoughts ran through her head as she tried to contemplate what was going on. Just who was this guy? Her body refused to move.
The wardrobe opened, and Rhia immediately stood up. "Why are you hiding?" the tall figure in front of her spoke in a deep, cold tone. Rhia immediately stood up, avoiding his gaze. "I was looking for the bathroom," she lied.
"It doesn't suit you," he finally said in a cold tone, as he walked to the door. Rhia froze; did he just insult her for wearing a green wig? "What deal did you make with my parents?" she asked. "Ask your parents," he said coldly. "Then why did you choose to marry me, Mr. Rich?" Zander, known as the Expressionless King with the most successful enterprise, was a man with no expression; no one knew what was going through his head, and no one could read his expression.
There was a slight frown on his face; did she just insult him or mock him? He was speechless as the atmosphere immediately became tense. He turned to her as he began to walk towards her; Rhia moved back, her heart pounding loudly for an unknown reason. Zander stopped just an inch away from her, leaning in. "Careful what you say, little one," he whispered, his hot, fresh breath on her skin making her body shiver and goosebumps appear in places they weren't needed. He left, leaving her in a dazed state.
After what seemed like an hour, Rhia managed to move, coming out of the wardrobe. She could still not believe she had reacted like that just because of him. "Rhia, are you okay? Did you meet your parents? What did they do..." Lesley asked impatiently. "Let's go home," Rhia said. "Are you alright? You don't seem fine," Lesley asked. "I'm fine," Rhia replied.
As Lesley drove to the Kimberly mansion, she couldn't help but wonder why Rhia's parents had entered the room, looking worried, and Rhia had come out, looking confused. All she had to do was trust Rhia; when the time came, she believed Rhia would explain everything to her. "I'll get married to him today; be my bridesmaid," Rhia said, as the car screeched to a halt. She knew her parents; they would do worse if she didn't marry him. "Whoa, whoa, take it easy; are you sure you want to marry him?" Lesley asked. "Yes," Rhia said. Lesley knew her friend; when she agreed to something, no one could change her mind. "Okay, if anything happens, don't hesitate to call me," Rhia finally smiled.
Lesley nodded as the car zoomed off. Lesley stopped the car as Rhia removed the wig and glasses, staring at the wig. All she could remember was, "It does not suit you." She shook her head, wondering why she was so bothered by his words. Rhia entered the mansion, walking past her parents, who were sitting in the living room, shocked by her attitude. Rhia never broke any rules; this was the first time she had acted this way, which angered her father. "RHIA KIMBERLY!" Mr. Kimberly roared, so loudly that Mrs. Kimberly couldn't help but stare at him in shock.
"I'll get married to him only if Lesley is my bridesmaid," she finally said and walked out, leaving her parents in another shock. The night enveloped the dying evening. Lesley entered the room, surprised by the breathtaking view in front of her. Rhia's hair was in a modern braided updo; her long lashes, beautiful almond eyes, glossy pink lips, and long white dress with small diamonds around the waist, which fell to the floor with a slit up the side, both back and front, complemented her glass shoes. She looked too good to be true. "Oh my God, Rhia, you look so gorgeous," she said in a low, happy tone. "Those are real diamonds," she said; Rhia nodded.
Rhia had no idea why Zander chose the wedding to be at night. "Time to go." Those words alone made Rhia's heart skip a beat; was she doing the right thing? Many thoughts ran through her head; she had many questions.
Coming out of the car, she held her father's hand as they walked to the church. They both stood in front of the large door, waiting for it to be opened. "Behave; follow instructions," Rhia didn't know if she should laugh or cry; this was all her father could say to her. The door opened, and all eyes were on her.
An angry figure barged in it was her mother Mrs Kimberly. Rhia was immediately pulled harshly by her mother.
"What are you doing here in the middle of the night, you need to rest you have to look good for your wedding tomorrow" Mrs Kimberly said as she closed the window.
Rhia smiled bitterly she could not believe her parents planned all this because of thier selfish needs her eyes watered she stared at her mother.
