All eyes were on her, but she managed to compose herself. She slowly walked with her dad to the altar, her gaze landing on the tall figure. His silky black hair was neatly swept back, and his crisp white shirt complemented his custom-made dark blue suit. He looked perfect; Rhia couldn't believe such a handsome man existed. She immediately shifted her gaze when their eyes locked.
Zander stared at the stunning lady coming towards him. The glasses she wore before made her eyes look smaller, and her wig changed her look, but she looked so different now. Reaching the altar, her dad offered her his left arm, and they stood in front of each other. The priest began to speak, but Rhia couldn't hear what he was saying; it was like she was in another world until she heard, "Rhia Kimberly, do you take Zander Lim as your lawful wedded husband?" "I do." "Zander Lim, do you take Rhia Kimberly as your lawful wedded wife, in sickness and in health?" "I do," he said in his usual cold tone.
"Very well, then you may now kiss the bride," the priest quickly said. "We would like to do that in private; my husband is a really shy man," she said with her sweetest smile. It came as a surprise, shocking both the crowd and the priest. The large, massive hall became quiet as all eyes focused on Zander in surprise; it was like breaking news that would break the internet. Not long after, Zander wrapped his arm around Rhia's waist and pulled her to him in a swift second. A gasp escaped Rhia's lips as her heart began to pound loudly.
He caught her off guard, not only her but also the priest and the crowd. Pulling her to him, holding her petite waist, he lifted her chin and gave her a quick peck on the lips. There was a brief pause followed by applause. Rhia blushed hard, her heart beating loudly as she stared at Zander, but he was expressionless. How could he act so calm after what he did to her? It was like he cast a spell on her; this was not how she wanted her first kiss to be, but why did she feel that way? It was like she never wanted that moment to end.
It was already midnight, time for the bride to throw the bouquet. Rhia stood in front, closed her eyes, and tossed it. All eyes followed the bouquet as Lesley caught it. Rhia gasped as she stared at her best friend, who stood in shock; she caught it because it almost hit her face. So, did that mean she would be the next to get married? She stared at Rhia; they both used their eyes to communicate, a habit they had since college, only doing it in crowded places.
After the long night, Rhia became so tired; it was time for everyone to leave. "Rhia," Lesley called out as she waved her hands. Rhia turned with a smile. "Remember, if anything happens..." "I wouldn't hesitate to call you," Rhia completed, and they both smiled. Rhia immediately hugged Lesley. "I have to go," Rhia said, and Lesley nodded.
Rhia entered the Rolls-Royce Boat Tail; Zander sat beside her as the luxurious car zoomed off. Rhia sat silently for what seemed like hours until she turned to Zander. "Where are we going?" she broke the silence. Zander, focused on his iPad the whole time, raised his head and looked at her. "To the hotel." He spoke; "What?" Rhia said, immediately regretting her words. She was not ready; how could she forget that it was normal for a husband and wife to sleep together? Her eyes widened.
Zander could read her expression; he leaned closer to her, pulling her closer to him. A gasp escaped Rhia's lips as he used his thumb to caress her lips, speaking in a low, husky tone. "Do you have a problem with that, my little wife?" "My little wife" repeated in her mind. Her heart beat so loudly and fast; it was like she didn't know herself anymore. "Rhia," he spoke her name, rolled out of his tongue so smoothly. He sat back in his usual position, taking his iPad and continuing, leaving her in surprise.
"Why is he acting so normal, like nothing happened?" her inner self screamed. There was another silence; she decided to stay focused. Zander turned to Rhia, wondering what happened because the car was too silent for a long time. It was then he realized she was fast asleep; she was in such an uncomfortable position. He stared at her small face before moving and resting her face on his lap. The sleeping Rhia had no idea what was going on as she unconsciously wrapped her arm around Zander waist he stilled.
Rhia slowly opened her eyes, which immediately widened as she realized Zander was carrying her. She covered her face with both hands, blushing hard. "You're awake," Zander spoke in his usual deep tone, making her blush even more. Rhia hit her forehead with her palm, whispering to herself, "Stupid, stupid." She looked at Zander, who stopped walking and stared at her. He carefully laid her on the bed. "I'm not a baby," Rhia said. "You act like one," Zander replied, making Rhia's face contort in anger. She stood up, walked to the wardrobe, and opened it, revealing a stunning nightwear ensemble. "Heavens should help her; why is all this happening to her?" she thought.
Zander's phone buzzed, and he frowned as he picked up. "I had no idea my brother was getting married," a handsome man spoke on the other end. "Go straight to the point." "I will visit soon." Zander hung up immediately after. Rhia left to have her bath, grateful she changed into a knee-length gown before the reception. Zander sat on the bed, checking messages from his secretary. When he heard the bathroom door open, he raised his head and stared at Rhia, speechless. She was wearing one of his most expensive custom-made shirts, his favorite, which he only wore on very special occasions. Rhia, noticing his gaze, had no idea she found it in the other wardrobe. "I couldn't find any decent nightwear," she finally spoke.
An angry figure barged in it was her mother Mrs Kimberly. Rhia was immediately pulled harshly by her mother.
"What are you doing here in the middle of the night, you need to rest you have to look good for your wedding tomorrow" Mrs Kimberly said as she closed the window.
Rhia smiled bitterly she could not believe her parents planned all this because of thier selfish needs her eyes watered she stared at her mother.
