"Harsh weather, burning sun. What sort of misery do you want one's soul to suffer?"
Sync called out to the sky, her bamboo hat slightly tilting back. "Do you not want to see one enjoying cupcakes and playing in the water?"
"How about you start working in the first place and then enjoy yourself?"
Sync immediately had a scowl on her face as she turned towards Jade.
"Oh, thank you. I didn't think much about it in the first place."
Jade scoffed, throwing a basket towards Sync. "Move it. Boss wants all the carrots picked out before lunch."
"You snake!" Sync blew raspberries at him as he walked away. "Screw him. Who even decided to make him this month's chore allocator?"
With a heavy sigh, Sync began picking out carrots from the field. Sweat and the scorching heat were her companions, along with dirt and mud.
However, a curious creature came along her line of sight.
"Oh? What's that?" Finding a black marble in a field of glass was her favourite. "A cat!"
Dropping her basket, Sync sat on her haunches as she petted the little white feline. The cat purred at her touch, bringing a smile to Sync's face. The annoyance of her work completely vanished as the cat got up and leaned closer to her.
"Do you wanna be with me?" If cats could nod, the feline seemed to be doing the same. Sync picked up the cat and twirled it around.
At that, the feline questioned itself about its decision to be with a kid who had been made to work in the field. But it seemed the feline was happy to be with her for now.
