That whole day was spent just like the one before, with a bunch of activities, a lot of playing around, but they also included some exercises for mobility and team work, as it could not be three days of loitering around. But then there came the night.
As we all know, the dance club had lots of traditions, but there was a non-official one that always took place on the second day of their annual trip: the drunk games.
They would choose a room to meet, get a bunch of little tables, get a lot of food and snacks and an abnormal amount of alcohol. Then they'd invite everyone to participate in it: those who didn't drink or were not up for it were dismissed, but every year a whole bunch of people joined the mess.
Leon was gently (not) persuaded to participate by his friends. So there they were, spreaded around on the tables, chatting and drinking away. Mandatory shots were given in the beginning of the night to get everyone started so the moment the actual games began they're all a bit affected.
There were some punishment games that, amongst other things, resulted in: Leon dancing Gentleman by Psy on the top of a table with sunglasses, Nick reciting some cheesy romance series lines to a grasshopper on the window, John and Mark doing a couple's shot and failing because they laughed too much, Henry trying to find his glasses hidden inside the room with human's obstacles, Moon and Star changing outfits and acting like each other to the point that those drunkards didn't even notice that they did not change back… every time someone completed the task given, everyone else had to take a shot, when they failed they took the shot themselves.
Needless to say that they were all tipsy by the time they started the Ask Away Game. They'd pass a bottle around singing a stupid song with their eyes closed, when the song stopped the person with the bottle had to answer truthfully a question chosen or drink three shots.
It was a festival of people hitting on each other, getting wasted, confessing or getting content for new gossip all around and Nick, of course, was one of the main targets for it all, as they purposely would slow or fasten the song to end on him. After a lot of unsuccessful attempts to bother him, he was fully drunk when the bottle stopped on him once again.
“Me, me me!” A charming boy yelled out from two tables down “I have a question he will answer” He said smugly. Since everyone already tried their luck at finding out about his exes or his feelings towards themselves, they just let the boy ask away “Are you secretly dating someone? Is that why you won't answer anyone?”
You’d think someone had already asked that, but the whole time they were too drunk to even think about it and were just trying to get attention for themselves.
At this moment, Leon’s heart squeezed with anxiety even as he was light headed from the alcohol. If Nick refused to answer, that'd be basically admitting to it, but honestly the redhead didn't know if that was worse than hearing the other actually say it. Would he confirm it? Would he call her princess like he did with Henry? Would he say who she was? As always, Leon’s mind was going down a black hole so deep he almost missed the answer.
“Nope” Nick giggled drunkenly “I'm not dating anyone, except that grasshopper who I'm pretty sure blushed to me” His shoulder shook with the silly laughter.
The whole party was a mess of cheers and little giggles, happy to know that the boy was single… and Leon? Leon was confused. If he wasn't dating anyone then who the hell was princess? He took it upon himself to ask if the bottle fell on the elder again.
But the next person was not Nick, but Leon himself. When the bottle stopped on him there was a sudden silence in the room. Sure, they had made him dance and played together those days, but no one really talked to him besides the people he already knew. This was one of the reasons he hated stuff like this, he didn't really mind people not being interested in him, but it always left sort of a heavy atmosphere in the air for everyone else.
The first-year was about to sigh internally when unexpectedly a lot of excited little whispers came from different tables all around.
As we know, Leon was plenty oblivious as to how people saw him. The truth was that everyone wanted to ask him stuff, he was a pretty boy and kinda unfriendly, so really all they needed was an opportunity like this to try and get closer. The boy was left confused as pleas for dibs on the question came from everywhere until a group of four girls, who were jokingly pushing a fifth one around, were able to get the attention to this last friend, whose face was laced with a pink flush.
“Well, I…” She fidgeted a little before making up her mind and looking the long haired boy in the eye “I like you! Would you please consider going out with me? Or just like, getting to know each other?” She pleaded, half confident, half insecure.
Whistles and screams came from everywhere at the same time, no one was expecting Leon's first question to be a love confession.
The boy himself was stunned, blinking blankly at the girl as his brain caught up with what she had said in the middle of all that noise. Nick and John were visibly gapping at the situation, but Mark just took another pocky from a container on the table to eat, smirking to himself.
Finally, when the people around them quieted down, Leon registered absent-mindedly a little shake on the girl’s hand that was holding a drink, giving out how nervous she was. He thought she must have a lot of guts to confess like this in front of everyone and felt awful at what he was about to say. But what could he do?
Leon shook his head sheepishly and with an apologetic smile he said “I’m sorry”
Lots of boos, complaints and also cheers were distributed as the girl deflated depressingly. The redhead’s own heart squeezed with guilt. One of her friends was so offended she asked “Why? What's wrong with her? Can't you even consider it?”
Here, if anyone looked closely they'd seen Nick breath out a sigh of relief that the boy himself didn't notice. The whole thing had made him quite uncomfortable and a dread had loomed over him when Leon took so long to answer. His eyebrows ticked in annoyance at the girl’s friend but as he was about to speak out to the situation, the always observant boy spoke.
“It's one question for round” Mark said nonchalantly and earned a glare from the girl's friends. He just shrugged at them.
He knew he shouldn’t endorse the rule breaking of this particular game but as Leon saw that the girl might actually cry he said “It's fine Mark” then he looked at her gently and offered a pocky that she accepted with a confused expression on her face “I can't consider you because I like boys”.
Some surprised noises could be heard all around, but some other exclamations such as “I knew it” could also be heard. The girl put a hand over her mouth mumbling a little “oh” as she blushed a bit.
“You what now??” Nick blurted out before he could stop himself. His face snapped to the younger’s direction.
Sure he had seen a boy hit on Leon in the bar and sure he had thought maybe the first-year was flirting with that other Ren boy, but he clearly rejected the first one and the second seemed to have been a misunderstanding, so Nick had assumed… He didn't really know what he had assumed, to be honest. He just got so surprised at the unsurprising revelation that his drunk mouth moved before his mind could interrupt.
Leon was equally surprised at that burst out. They were sitting side by side since the beginning, but they hadn't really said anything to each other. Nick was looking scrutinously at him, as much as his alcohol induced state permitted.
Normally he wouldn’t act like this, but under the alcohol influence we all do weird stuff, right? So Leon reached out at Nick's ear and pulled it towards himself, like you'd do with a naughty child. The older boy cried out at the pain.
“I like boys” He said annoyedly, directly at the other's ear “I. Am. Gay. Got a problem with that?” And then he let go of his Senpai. If Nick had a problem with that, they might just get over it so his broken heart would heal faster.
“Goddammit, you ass, that hurt!” Nick patted his own sore ear as he cursed “Why the hell would I have a problem with that, it got nothing to do with me” He went on as he willingly drank another whole shot.
“Big talk, you were the one acting all stupid” Leon retorted even as Nick's previous words stung his heart. Fine, he had nothing to do with it, the jerk. Still, some relief was felt there, knowing the boy didn’t really care.
Meanwhile, as they were bickering, some heartbroken girls were looking at each other with sympathy and exchanging shots. Some other boys were cheering unabashedly, planning what their chances were.
That game went on for some more time. They made a rule that the same person could not be picked twice in a roll, because it defeated the purpose of randomizing it (“About time”, Nick had said). All the questions for everyone somehow became love related: how many people the others dated, if they had a crush, who they would be interested in, and things of that sort. Then the bottle ended up in the hands of someone who hadn't yet answered any questions: Mark.
Keeping on theme with the love and relationship related stuff, Star (Or was that Moon? Some wondered) went ahead and asked “Who was the first person you dated?”
Some interested giggles and snickers could be heard as the short boy was actually a bit popular himself.
“The first person huh…” Mark tapped his fingers on his chin, wondering if he should just drink his shots instead. He thought it would be a hassle of a situation but one look at Nick made him change his drunken mind. With a trickster's smile on his face his eyes narrowed down when the Senpai returned his gaze. Then slowly he looked to the side and pointed with his pointer finger “This one”.
He was pointing at Leon.
