"Cotton Candy's fur is so thick, but you don't even have fur. Yet, holding you to sleep is more comfortable," Lazer Mill clicked his tongue. "The difference between species is really huge. Why don't you have fish scales on your body?"
Clearly having merfolk blood, yet possessing such beautiful legs, surpassing all the world-class models he had seen.
Mira Carlyle: "..."
Cotton Candy was actually the name of his old tiger. Who would name a tiger that?
Just how twisted was his hobby, sleeping while holding a tiger?
"But he killed Cotton Candy," Lazer Mill's voice suddenly turned low and cold. He bit her hair, laughing darkly with a chilling undertone. "He skinned Cotton Candy and made a tiger pelt coat, wearing it to pay me a New Year visit. Don't you think that's evil?"
Just hearing this made Mira Carlyle break out in goosebumps, feeling an inexplicable chill.
Who was so cruel? His enemy?
Lazer Mill's large hand caressed the back of her neck, his voice returning to a playful tone, "But, sooner or later, I'll skin something he likes and make it into a coat. With Cotton Candy gone, you'll wear it in its place."
"..."
"Then you'll wear it to visit his grave, so he can see how beautiful my new pet is."
"..."
The more Mira Carlyle listened, the more she thought this man was beyond twisted.
Sensing the reaction of the little thing in his arms, Lazer Mill suddenly lifted her face.
In the dark, the girl's deep emerald eyes were like the brightest night pearls, crystal clear and ethereal, stunningly beautiful.
The man squinted, appreciating her eyes. His smiling tone suddenly turned dangerously, "If you betray me, these eyes will be made into coat buttons."
A flash of anger and killing intent crossed Mira Carlyle's eyes.
He dared!
"Seems like you do understand some human speech. Scared?" Lazer Mill patted her face, "So be a good pet of Lazer Mill, and I'll personally teach you to read."
Mira Carlyle didn't care much about what he said; she wasn't planning to stay by his side for long anyway.
She deliberately let out a big yawn, indicating she was sleepy.
Lazer Mill didn't push her further, but he did pull her back into his arms. His grip was tight, as if afraid she would disappear like Cotton Candy, so tight that Mira Carlyle could hardly breathe.
She tried to kick him with her foot, wanting him to loosen his hold. How could she sleep like this!
If he held a tiger like this, wouldn't the tiger bite him to death?!
Then Lazer Mill hooked his long leg around hers, pinning her legs tightly, and also trapped her hands under his armpit.
Mira Carlyle: "..."
...
The golden sunlight pierced through the clouds, casting a warm glow on the plane.
Faint voices could be heard outside the cabin, making Mira Carlyle's ears twitch as she suddenly opened her eyes.
Almost simultaneously, the man with his arm around her waist also opened his eyes.
Their eyes met.
Lazer Mill suddenly reached out and touched the girl's forehead.
Recalling how he had hugged her so tightly last night that her bones almost broke, Mira Carlyle angrily slapped his hand away, glaring at him with her emerald eyes.
All night, he clung to her like an octopus. She didn't know how she managed to fall asleep and now felt sore all over.
To Lazer Mill, her expression seemed like she was waking up grumpy.
The little thing had quite a temper.
Lazer Mill abruptly threw off the blanket and got out of bed, his long legs striding to open the cabin door.
The two people standing at the door immediately bowed, "Duke Lazer."
Lazer Mill frowned coldly, "What are you chattering about so early in the morning? Are you possessed by sparrows?"
Angela Kent kept her head down, not daring to speak. Paulin Ricardo quickly said, "Duke Lazer, it's already 9:49 AM. You hadn't woken up yet, and the butler and I were worried..."
Due to past events, Duke Lazer often had trouble sleeping, usually only sleeping for a few hours or even staying up all night.
But today, it was nearly ten, and Duke Lazer hadn't gotten up, so they were worried something might have happened.
Lazer Mill glanced at the time, a look of surprise briefly crossing his face.
His blood was cold, and he usually couldn't sleep through the night.
But last night, holding Mira Carlyle, her body grew hotter as the night went on, like ice meeting lava, surprisingly giving him a rare good night's sleep.
Interestingly, when he touched her forehead just now, her body temperature had returned to normal.
Do merfolk get hot at night?
Tsk.
The little thing he picked up was indeed a fascinating treasure.
However...
Recalling some scenes from last night, Lazer Mill's eyes swept over the girl in the bedroom with a meaningful look, "Find out why she was at the underground auction in Seton City, where she lived before, and everything about her."
"Yes." Paulin Ricardo responded, wondering why Duke Lazer was suddenly so curious about this mermaid girl. Wasn't she just a pet?
But he didn't dare to ask more and continued, "Also, there's another matter. Cecil Barton, the second son of the Barton family, is hosting a birthday party. He learned that you were in Rong City and invited you to attend."
Lazer Mill raised an eyebrow, "Cecil Barton?"
"Yes, his elder brother used to have a lot of business dealings with you. After his brother's accidental death, Cecil Barton took over the family. He mentioned having an impressive business partner he'd like to introduce to you."
Paulin Ricardo assumed he wouldn't be interested, so he asked, "Should I decline Cecil Barton's invitation...?"
"I'll go." Lazer Mill adjusted his collar, a smirk of intrigue playing on his lips, "Tell Cecil Barton I'm looking forward to his introduction."
...
At the Lazer Estate.
A large golden cage was placed on the main bedroom's balcony. Mira Carlyle, in a white dress, lay on the tiger-striped mat inside the cage, looking through the curtains at the picturesque scenery below.
After the plane landed in Rong City, Mira Carlyle had followed Lazer Mill back to the estate.
Lazer Mill seemed to have urgent family matters to handle, having received a phone call while in the car, forcing her to lie on his lap and overhear some of it.
As expected, about half an hour later, a long business car drove out from the estate's main gate.
A man sat in the back seat. Although Mira Carlyle couldn't see his face, his cold, pale hand resting on the window, with a silver pinky ring reflecting a strange, cold light in the sunlight.
It was Lazer Mill!
He finally left.
Mira Carlyle's lips curled into a relieved smile. She vaguely overheard that there was a party tonight, meaning Lazer Mill wouldn't be back anytime soon, possibly not even tonight.
