On the day motion felt like a lie, I asked you to run with me
To suspend your hands over the water’s edge, consume the world,
Swallow my words and feel
The dragonflies in your stomach
Raindrops fall, soft as the wings of a luna moth
Run with me in the dark forever
Or until we can feel the beating of wings
Behind our ears, the slice of a lung full of air
Whooshing out of us
Fast as the crack of the horizon, leaking egg yolk
Into our mouths, painting our insides golden like
The sinking sun, maybe we’ll glow like it, too
I am shaking now like the legs of your dragonfly,
Shedding its soul over and over again on the edge
Of our lake, rejecting
Its own being
I wanted to be in its skin, just a moment, let me
Lose myself in another
I love that day, when the water felt like lightening
And your body danced above the surface, became the surface
And the world is spinning around you and I forget to breathe
As I am pushed to the edge and crushed against the glass
But I could watch the dragonflies dance on your fingers
Forever through the fragments
