Immediately, I could hear familiar sounds. As I looked around, I saw that, sure enough, I was back home. However, it wasn’t by the college lockers, it was back at the Oak tree. However, the time of day was different, and it was definitely nearing sundown.
“Well…” I spoke up to Ichthys, as he removed his hands from my shoulders. “Thank you for showing me the meadow, but I probably won’t thank you for making me miss the rest of the day. That, and taking me to the middle of nowhere in France.”
“Ah… I do apologise, though…” Ichthys bowed slightly.
“Just don’t do it for now, ok?”
With a smile, I turned on my heel to head towards the lockers. Luckily, the college grounds were open until quite late for those who stayed back for a few hours. I am not looking forward to any messages that Junie has left me. Like, how could I even explain what happened? I think that the best option would literally just be me saying that I left my phone behind. Once I reached the lockers, I grabbed the rest of my stuff, and made a break for it all the way back home.
“Well… That was kinda cute…” Nocte mused to himself, as another figure was crouching over four unmoving figures.
The figure slowly stood up and turned to face him. No features could be made out since their entire face was hidden by a hood.
“How is this cute?” A rather monotoned male voice came from the hooded figure.
“Oh, no, not them…” Nocte waves his hand to dismiss it. “What I witnessed earlier.”
“Hmm… So this was your doing?” The figure pointed to the four men, who were in a pile.
“Something like that…”
“Stop making my job harder!”
Nocte shrugged at that. “But they did deserve it.”
“We are not here to pass judgement on mortals…”
“I had my reasons as to why, and I will stand by it.”
The figure tilted their head, rather curious by that statement. “How so?”
“Well, I had a feeling about something and pushed some things along, it looks like it all worked out in the end.”
“So you were the one who told Finis to take that boy to pools and land exactly in that particular spot?” The figure crossed their arms. “I am now very intrigued as to why.”
Nocte scratched at the side of his face, sheepishly. “Ah, you see, well… Some of us deserve happiness. So, I just pushed things along.”
“What… Have… You… Done?” The figure seemed rather annoyed.
“Oh? Do you hear that? Police have arrived. Laters Vic!”
Nocte darted away before the figure could interrogate him further. As the figure watched the policemen approach him, they completely ignored him as they approached the pile of bodies. The words ‘We found them’ were said in French. With a shake of their head, the figure vanished as well from the scene.
