Karina trekked throught the forest for what felt like ages. She hoped to leave the ruins of her home, along with her past, behind her. Until she saw a light.
First, she thought it was her imagination. But when it wouldn't leave her alone, she decided to follow it. After all, what did she have to lose?
So she followed it. Each night, she wandered the land, trying to find the place it lead. Soon, she grew frustrated. After six months, it had lead her nowhere.
More time passed.
Karina soon saw the light stop. Total nothingness surrounded her. Soon, she realized she was utterly lost. Maybe it was a trap. Maybe she had been tricked. So she waited. She waited for something to happen. As the night ended, she realized the light had disappeared. Now, Karina was truely alone. In a panic, she threw open her bag to try to find a map. Soon, she saw one. She pulled it out. She realized she had been traveling south for awhile now.
Then, Karina saw a small glimmer across her map. As the light of dawn trickled through the trees, the glimmering steadied. She could now make out words on the paper. Just a little farther south, she saw a landmark labeled on the map.
Menderval Caves.
What are Menderval Caves?
...
Melissa stared at the thought-to-be-extinct creature through the trees, watching as she dropped to the ground in panic to search her bag. Perfect, her fairy magic worked. The light led her to Melissa eventually. Although it had taken an insensible amount of time for her to get here
But that didn't matter now. The trap was set. She pulled her knife out of her satchel and prepared the attack. She snuck forward, and...
Quick as a flash, the creature dissapeared. Melissa gasped.
"You are always one step behind me," the creature said. This time, however, Melissa managed to grab her wrists.
"What are you!" Melissa yelled.
"Doesn't matter. All you need to know is I'm good enough to fight you," she said, and shoved Melissa away. Melissa reached for her knife, but the creature was quicker. It grabbed the knife and prepared for attack.
"Wait," Melissa said. "What if we worked together?"
The creature bared its teeth. "To do what?" It sneered.
"Whatever! Just don't kill me!" Melissa yelled, exasperated.
"Fine. But only because of your fairy powers." She led Melissa back to her bag.
"We are heading to this cave," she gestured to the map. "I'm Karina, by the way."
"I'm Melissa. Now let's go. It should only take a day."
