Near out of breath yet she continued to run through the village and animals missing all.
She didn’t stop for anything or anyone because all she could think about was what she saw in her dream and all the destruction that will occur. She stopped but only for a moment when she saw a young man no more than thirteen years of age telling him to gather the villagers in the square. The young man ran door to door, person to person telling all to go the square. Not one person questioned his words once he spoke the woman’s name no one except for Corvin, James and Leo.
When he entered the tavern, he saw only Corvin and his friends, he grew nervous when around them as every young child in the village were told that they are very dangerous people. Yet he was told by one of the most respected and powerful people in the village to go to him. He cautiously walked up to Corvin who was sitting in the corner drinking he froze four feet from him as this was the closest, he has ever been to them.
“What do you want, boy?” Corvin asked the young man as he sat in the corner drinking, but the boy just stood there frozen. “Well speak.”
The young man cleared his throat and stuttered “She, she ...told me to gather the villagers, she has something to tell all of us.”
Corvin looked at the boy and asked rather calmly “Who?”
“Kaileena.” the boy said quietly.
The other walkers in the tavern looked at Corvin who told the boy to leave which he did not hesitate to do. He looked at the others and smiled an evil smile for anyone who believed her lies were fools in his eyes. Kaileena is the village sear who could supposedly see the future of all, but she was so often wrong more than right. Yet this didn’t stop the villagers from believing in here. It was not only the villagers that believed in her as James and his kind too believe in her words too but not as strongly as the villagers but only a few of Corvin’s kind believed in her. But most saw through her lies. If they did choose to believe her words most did so in secret as they feared Corvin’s wrath. He looked out the window of the tavern to see many of the villagers if not all of them were in the square. Against his better judgement he left to join the villagers to hear what lies she could come up with this day. The others in the tavern followed him as he walked to the square. They stayed to the back keeping to themselves.
As they and the crowd gathered around Kaileena, she removed her cloak allowing all to see her youthful beauty despite her being forty years of age. Her long black hair streak with grey flow freely and her bright blue eyes could see the looks of wonder in the crowd’s face. On the other hand, they could be eager to hear what she saw. In the crowd stood James, Leo, and Hera as well as both of their kind in the village. Kaileena looked at the crowd one last time then parted her bright red lips in order to speak to her people.
“What no one knew that today was the day for the first
time her dream would come true. Only she was just a
few thousand years off. As her vision was that of
myself.”
~ Gabriel
Kaileena took a deep breath then spoke to the crowd in a frightful way in order to strike fear in them. “I have seen this village and others like it covered in blood and darkness. Through the darkness, eyes as red as blood will appear. While others take to the skies with beautiful wings stained with the blood of the innocent, the eyes red as blood will fade to black. All battling an endless battle for survival and revenge. Standing in the middle of this is a young ageless man of two worlds his birth will bring about the end of the eyes and wings, but his death will bring them altogether into the light. He will be known by the mark that he bears on his right shoulder. The mark is that of two circles joining together. I do not know when this will happen, but I fear it too be soon.”
The villagers looked at her with fear upon their faces as many of the women were with child. In the crowd Corvin stared at James with hatred in his eyes more than before because for the first time he truly believed here words as what she described stood before her. Corvin quietly turned and left without telling anyone where he was going. He stopped only to collect his sword from his home above the tavern. He ran quickly and silently to the home of Mya who was sitting home alone with no one to come to her aid. He stopped just short of her door looking through the window he could see her sitting knitting what looked to be a blanket. His eyes faded from red to black as he gripped his long sword tightly without a warning, he kicked down her front door entering her home like he was an enemy soldier. Mya jumped from out of her chair dropping her needles and yarn grabbing the dagger that laid next to her. But was of little to no use to her being in the state she was too slow, and the dagger was smaller than his long sword.
“What do you want?” Mya yelled at him gripping the dagger while stepping back toward the bed.
Corvin looked at her then down towards her stomach before saying with a sickening smile upon his face. “The baby. I want it dead.”
Without hesitating he stepped forward running his sword through her womb and baby, Mya dropped the dagger onto the floor as he pulled his sword out then the blood flowed like water from the wound. Corvin held her head up so she could look into his eyes his cold black eyes as he ran his sword through her heart killing her instantly. The moment she took her final breath in the village James fell to his knees screaming in pain as he felt both his wife and child die together. Those around him tried to come to his aid. He rose up so quickly before anyone could come to his aid and ran off through the crowd faster than human for all to see. As he no longer cared about protecting the humans he ran straight towards his home. At the house Corvin had placed her body on the bed and cut out her baby with the intent of bringing it to show the others the mark of the two circles but he was wrong. When he pulled the babies dead body, he saw that he had killed an innocent as the baby was a girl not a boy as Kaileena had spoken about. There was also no mark upon her body apart from her scars on her back realizing that the mistake he had just made will start a war between their two families when James comes back to find his family dead. Corvin did not laugh as he usually would because he knew that in a way the scales were balanced. This brought a laugh to his face before he left, he stabbed the baby girl in her still heart just to make sure that she was dead and placed her on Mya’s body. With his hand on the doorknob, he turned and smiled for this was to be the first of many more to come until the one is found.
