James arrived mere moments later to his home to find his door kicked in when he entered his home the smell of blood was horrendous. He looked around for Mya but did not see her until he looked at their bed. James rushed to her aid but to his horror he found her lying in a pool of her blood with her womb cut wide open as her baby lay dead on her chest. James fell to the ground in utter shock because in one day he lost all that was precious to him. He tried to hold back his tears too no avail as he closed Mya’s eyes for Corvin had left them open. So, she could see all that was happening to her. He picked up his daughter holding her in his arms he wrapped her in one of the blankets Mya had made and held her in his arms hoping she would wake up, but she did not.
James held her not wanting to let go for a long while before kissing her forehead and saying a blessing onto her so that the spirits may claim her worthy. He kept her in his arms as he covered Mya with a blanket; he kissed his daughter one last time before placing her beside Mya.
This way they would be together in the next world.
“Good night my sweet little girl, this world wasn’t meant to have a girl as beautiful as you. Go join your mother, Mya with the spirits and don’t worry I will join you soon my sweet little Lola.”
James spoke broken heartily to his baby girl. After placing Lola in her mother’s arms, he got up and walked over to where his armor as well as weapons were. Apart from the dagger he gave Mya which he left beside her for protection in the next life.
He put on his armor over his blood-stained shirt; the blood of his family, his armor was black leather with a partially open back. He put on his sword belt and sheath on his waist along with his dagger. James took one last look at his family and spoke as he put his hair back. “They will all die. Only then will you find peace.” before leaving his home for the last time as he was never coming back her. He looked to the once clear and blue sky which had now faded to grey and clouded in those moments, he looked up to the sky his eyes told everything as it was now time. He dropped to his knees on the ground outside his home the pain had already begun. The skin on his back by his shoulder blades began to tear apart. His blood flowed from the open wounds, and he screamed in pain. As his skin tore apart bones started to form, and soon white feathers began to come out as well arranging into two very large wings. The skin that ripped apart began to heal around the base of his wings. James stood up slowly regaining his strength. Once he was upright, he stretched out his wings that were dripping in his blood. Then he stretched out twelve feet from one tip of the feathers to the other. Just as he looked up to the sky it opened up and rain started to fall washing away the blood from his feathers till all that remained was white. The rain also washed away the blood of his wife and daughter from his hands. James grabbed a torch from the house lighting on fire before throwing it into the house. Burning the bodies and destroying all their memories. By burning the bodies, he knew that they would go straight to the spirits. He dug his bare feet into the mud looked up to the sky as the rain fell upon his face and took flight into the sky towards Corvin.
Back in Dastan, Corvin arrived at his tavern where the others waited impatiently for his return as none knew where he went too. Once he entered the tavern all those inside could smell the blood not just blood but that of an angelic. Their eyes turned red all but Ash’s for his turned black with the thought of what Corvin had done though he longed for war he did not want it to go this way for the others the smell of blood turned them on. Corvin looked at all of them with a evil smile and blood-stained clothes. “It’s time.” all those in the tavern began to cheer loudly for they all longed for war.
As the rain fell on the village, many of them were braving the rain in order to hear Kaileena’s words about the red eyes and the winged demons. From the dream the red eyes were to the wings all fighting bare foot. What frightened the villagers the most was all the questions she was unable to answer about them leaving. Kaileena looked up to the sky and saw the clouds bring the village into darkness. She began to fear that today was the day her vision spoke of. She looked back to the crowd and the many faces of men, women and children who were all about to die. She tried to warn them, but no words could come out. As the village fell into darkness, she said to herself “We are all doomed.” just as these words fell from her mouth. A hole opened in the clouds bringing a bit of light but also so much more than she could have ever imagined.
Through the light James fell from the sky in all his anger he fell from the sky in a flash of white lightning landing with such ferocity right before Kaileena’s feet. Mud and rain flew all around him when he landed no one could see who or what it was though a few among them knew. As the mud and rain settled around him all the villagers could see was white ball shaped object that appeared before them. Before their eyes this ball shaped separated into white wings as they separated there appeared before them a shape of a man. His wings were closed to prevent the mud from falling on his body from his harsh landing brought up. As his wings opened to their full beauty the light from the torches seemed to light up his body a piece at a time. Starting at his bare feet to his leather leggings to his sword and armor. As the light lit up his body the villagers stood frozen in place to afraid to run or scream because once they saw his swords they feared that he would attach them. Once his wings were fully spread open the light hit his face, but none could recognize him as the rain was thick and heavy. He looked through the crowd hoping to see Corvin, but he was not there.
“James?” a soft female voice from the back of the crowd spoke.
When the villagers heard that all too familiar voice, they stepped apart to see who said it. For it was a familiar face among the people, it was Sam that recognized him. The villagers were all too confused at what was happening that none could reason that the more they knew for the last ten years was not a man at all but an Angelic - an angel. The winged demon that Kaileena had just warn them about. James walked through the crowd flexing his wings not saying a word to any of them as he walked. Kaileena watched in horror because she too did not believe all her words till this day. James walked through the crowd stopping halfway; he took a deep breath before shouting with all his breath.
“Corvin, get the fuck out here you coward.”
All those around him trembled with fear as he was all powerful even in his voice as it rattled the heavens causing the rain to fall harder while the thunder and lightning grew stronger.
In the distance, Corvin walked out of the tavern fully armed and ready for battle with swords, armor, and all. He walked through the rain and crowd smug and conceded with what he had just done. He walk right up to James so that they stood mere feet apart and said coldly and arrogantly “Did you like your gift?”
James stared at him with cold eyes and said harshly “You wanted a war, you got one.”
“Let the games begin.” Corvin eagerly replied as his eyes shown bright red “You Angelics are a weak race. You don’t have the balls to fight. All you do is sit back and watch you will loose just like your wife. You weak pathetic creature.”
“You have no idea what I am capable of what we are capable of.” James simply spoke gripping his sword. His words make Corvin laugh as he laughed James without hesitation lifted his sword cutting of Corvin’s laughing head with one stroke for everyone to see. Corvin’s body fell to the ground with his head laying next to it. James turned to his fellow Angelics in the crowd among the humans with his wing spread out. The blood dripping from his sword he looked out among the crowd took a deep breath and spoke whole heartedly to all in the crowd. “I have done what is right and just. For he murdered my wife cutting out our baby all because of what that ‘Bitch’ (pointing his blood-soaked sword at Kaileena) prophesized. He killed my daughter not a son. He killed an innocent before she opened her eyes or even took her first breath. He left their bodies for me to find he didn’t even close Mya’s eyes. He butchered them for nothing, for a boy who may not be born for a thousand years. For centuries we have stood on the edge of war waiting for the others to do something and now the Nightwalkers have made their move. They drew the first blood because of Corvin’s actions war starts here and now. And I will not rest until every Nightwalker is dead. Brothers and sisters now is the time to come out of the shadows and let us give them a war they will never forget.”
Among the quietness of the villagers several yelled in support before they fell to the ground in pain. Many tearing off their coats allowing their wings to open for all the people to see and fear. There were ten in all. Kaileena stood and watched in horror as the people she had come to know turned into the winged demons of her dream. The ten Angelics stood up once their wings were fully out. The rain added to the fear of the villagers making them more fearful then they are. Once the villagers realized what was happening all around them they begin to flee to their homes for protection from the demons. They believed that demons are unable to enter their homes but in time they would see how wrong they are. Not all of the human villagers left only Sam and Kaileena remained among the ten Angelics. Leo, Hera. Sam and Kaileena did not stay to support them but because they were frozen in fear and confusion. As Sam stood there things began to come more clear about her earlier confrontation with James. Once she realized everything in her mind she took one last look at James in his true form snapping out of her fear rather quickly she ran to her home for safety leaving Kaileena alone with them.
The Angelics left two at a time going back to their homes to put on their armor and collect their weapons as the Nightwalkers were regrouping in the tavern as they all felt Corvin’s death. The walkers ready for battle as well putting on their armor and taking their swords just like the Angelics did. With Corvin’s death, Ash was now the leader of the Nightwalkers at least in this area. Ash led the walkers through the mud and rain straight towards James and the awaiting Angelics all armed and ready. Among them stood Leo and Hera who too were armed and readied themselves standing beside James showing the other Nightwalkers whose side they stood on. Though they hated all the other Nightwalkers, the Angelics stood next to Leo and Hera like they were angelics as well though many feared that they would turn when the fighting got worse but to most, they were no longer enemies but allies.
Leo walked up to James standing right beside him and spoke strongly “For Mya and your daughter.”
“For Mya and Lola.” James silently replied putting his hand out toward Leo to which he grabbed his forearm and nodded in agreement. They stood together side by side as friends ready to fight or die.
Kaileena stood helpless in the center of the square looking at the oncoming storm that was about to come and said to herself in utter terror. “What have I done.”
