For the humans all around the world we passed into their gods and legends. From the Gods of Egypt to those of Asia and Greco/Roman Gods. All with many different names and origins; yet all came from the same place - the same species. This brought peace and order to the human’s but where they had peace, my kin whatever peace they had was now beginning to shatter.
This massacre that happened made both races fear for their lives because with the death of so many that day it left little or less than three thousand of both races combined. Should there be another battle like this one neither race would survive it. It would appear to all that the young wanted the grand battles of old to not only take back their lands that they felt the nightwalkers took. It was more than this the young felt superior then everyone and anyone even the old much stronger Angelics and nightwalkers. The old ones wouldn’t allow another battle to happen with so few numbers they tried to put the youth in their place by any means. In the end only half truly understood their words while the rest were all hungry for carnage and blood. The old ones especially James, Ash and Leo managed to persuade the young to let all calm down first. Before they did anything drastic, the young took their words to heart since they were all warriors in the highest regard.
What may be worse than the youth was that deep down both races wanted revenge for those who dies needlessly in that massacre and the battles that came before. In order to avoid more death, the oldest of both races met in secret in hopes of coming to a truce. They met where it all began in the ruined village of Dastan. The talks went slow for many days as both races wanted to be in control of the other, but neither could without starting more battles. The losing species would start a coup to take over. The days went by as the old ones argued and moved things into play for control of the immortals. It seemed like the meeting would go on forever and ever until the tenth day. It began like all the other days with them talking and arguing but one old one chose to speak and lay it on the table.
Ash who was one of the oldest walkers still living even older than Leo or Hera, spoke up. At first, he was eager for war but had since grown tired of the constant fighting and death of everyone he knew. He suggested that they form a group made up of the most trusted and honorable warriors of both races. They would be tasked with the keeping of the peace while still searching for the baby boy of the prophecy. At first the others hated this idea, the thought of working together made them angrier. After a while all of them soon favored this idea as it was a fair and just. After a long deliberation they choose their warriors of the group with the agreement of all the walkers chose Leo, Seti, Lucian, and Dorian. While the Angelics chose Michael, Rya, Lyla and James.
Though it was his idea Ash wanted no part of it as he wanted to retire and settle north with his wife and two young children. Away from the others to live a life of peace and so his children wouldn’t grow up to hate and die needlessly. Though disappointed with his choice the others respected him and allowed him to go without harm or resentment because at one time they all felt this way.
The old ones decided that the group required a name to set them apart from the others. They choose the name “Circle of Eight” named for the symbol of the sear Kaileena foresaw. They also decided that for the others to recognize them they needed something for all to see discreetly. They choose a symbol from their belts of the one they were seeking. They forged their new buckles with a sword going through two circles. With that they set down the rules and orders they would be tasked with. The rules of the order were the following:
1. Keep both races secret from the humans.
2. Keep both races from fighting one another.
3. Clean up the mess that both races may make, such as dead bodies both theirs and humans.
4. To search each boy child that is born for the mark at birth and to destroy it. Once it is born but before it touches the ground.
With the rules set in place and were agreed on, they sent word to the others all around the world of the new way of things. Along with the rules that the people were to abide by they also made mention of the “Circle of Eight” and their duties to be enforce the rules along with their tasks. To make sure that the others were to follow the rules the old ones agreed that if any rules were to be broken the only punishment would be death. Most of the nightwalkers and Angelics agreed as they wanted peace and a break from all the fighting plus the hate. Like all changes some wanted to keep what they had that’s what happened with a few hundred walkers and angels. At first, they rebelled but after a while they relented once they knew who the “Circle” consisted of. All eight were considered the deadly less of all the immortals.
As the “Circle of Eight” enforced the new laws and kept the peace all over the world. The old ones who created them were busy trying to decipher Kaileena’s prophecy. They tried to figure out more about this boy and how could he be able to walk in both worlds. In the end they always came up with the same answer and the same theory. That the child had to be a human but then they would come back to the fact that neither race was compatible with humans. They tried for years to decipher the prophecy which by then they now refer it as the “the Blood and Fire prophecy”. They called it this as the blood stood for the baby and fire for the destruction it would bring. As they worked all around them the world grew peaceful for the first time in over five thousand years. Both races were finally getting along some even became friends letting the was stay in the past.
In time the humans also forgot about the Angelics and nightwalkers with them passing into nothing but myth and legends of the various human cultures around the world. Every now and then a human would see an Angelic fly or a Nightwalkers red eyes or show their strength and speed. When the humans saw the Angelics flying high above in the blue sky they began to call them angels - protectors of the humans. As for the Nightwalkers, the humans began to see them as warriors - spirits of the underworld come to collect the dead. The humans only saw the dark side of the Nightwalkers though they drank blood from humans and animals. They weren’t evil far from it as they too were good just slightly different. Their only downfall was their insatiable blood lust. In time they managed to control this that is how they were able to live among the humans. For so many millenniums, they were called Nightwalkers not because of their blood drinking but of the fact that at night was when they were the most active. During the day the sun weakened them, but they were still able to walk around in the sun. They just couldn’t exert themselves. The difference between the walkers and Angelics was the blood lust and the wings, yet the humans could never see this nor did they want to.
Time went by slow then fast and slow again. Everyone got settled into their new lives and roles among the humans. Their children were now able to run around and not be hidden since the fear of death was gone. Both races no longer taught their children to fight needlessly only in defense, but this was not started till they reached sixteen to eighteen years of age. When they could understand what it meant. Instead of fighting they taught their young skills such as farming, metal working and carpentry so they could make their way in this new world. Though they were taught many new things they were still taught about their origin and the history of their two races. But most importantly they were taught about “the Blood and Fire prophecy” so they would know why they fought so long ago. Their teachers were the old ones since many were there at the beginning of everything. The children were taught by both the angels and walkers so that they know both sides of the long war.
In time many angels and walkers became lifelong friends living together in human villages around the wide world and working together. This proved useful to the Circle as they could keep better track of them. Those who lived far away had to report their movements to the Circle, but most stayed in the southern part of the world for its warmth and its vast freedom. Some did make homes for themselves and lived up north like Ash had done centuries before. Many settled in what is now known as Britain, Sweden, Canada, and Ireland though some spread out further to places such as Greece. For the Circle they kept their home base where it all began in the ruins of Dastan. It was where they kept the prophecy written in their language. The language of the angels and walkers so that if any human should see they could never read it. It was the perfect place for them since Dastan is where everything began for them all those millenniums ago.
Over the next few thousand years every one lived in peace. Carrying on with their lives having children, making homes for themselves, and living their lives. Also watching the humans live theirs with each passing generation coming and going. The Circle kept both sides at peace with only one rebellion on the outskirts of Rome in 5 A.D. However, this was stopped rather quickly by the Circle and without any needless deaths. Several centuries later in 888 A.D. the old ones figured out Kaileena’s prophecy. They realized the answer was always there staring at them the whole time. They just refused to believe it. The child was not to be born of human but of an angel and a walker which made it a hybrid. This put the fear of death in them. This put things in a state of fear so much that they feared the child would be a monster. It would be stronger and swifter then both with no weakness. This could not come to pass since the prophecy told of their destruction.
With great haste they summoned the Circle back to Dastan. When all the members of the Circle had arrived, the old ones wasted no time in telling them what they found out. That it was a hybrid boy of their own blood. This made them all fear the prophecy more especially James for he lost the most. With the loss of his boy, his hate would forever stay with him festering inside till the day it bursts but all were blind and deaf to this. The Circle was told to watch out and prevent any interspecies relationships and to put a stop to any whatever the cost may be. They made the Circle swear to keep this knowledge a secret from all even their spouses. If the others were to hear of this, the fear that would set in could destroy the peace they fought so hard and long for. They enforced this to the last letter during this course of time only a few needed to be killed. For they refused to separate while the rest they managed to persuade to separate for the good of the peace. They did not enforce this when they came across those in a relationship with the same gender. There was no fear of reproduction.
For the eight members this consumed their lives but after a while and the passing of time, the boy was not boy get which was a blessing and a curse. But to some it was more of a blessing. To those who thought it was a blessing meant that the prophecy was false and soon forgot about it. To those who remembered the war and many needless deaths; as well as the years of hate that could never be rewritten of forgotten. With every birth they checked for the mark so far there was none. Even James who was the strongest supporter of this cause grew tired as did Leo.
Each of them had greater things to worry about as both got their reward for their faithfulness and diligence to their tasks - children. Both men’s wives were expecting after years of trying. Hera became with child in 988 A.D. while James found love again with Lorali. She was a beautiful long blond haired, green eyed, five feet five inches tall angel who fought beside him during the war. After many millenniums since the death of his daughter, James was expecting a new baby. Over the millenniums since Mya’s death both James and Leo grew to be close friends even to the point of being like brothers. For them these new lives had given them a reason to move on and start over again with their soon to be born children. They moved far from Dastan and finally settling in the southern part of Africa. Here the lions, elephants, giraffes and so forth roamed the countryside away from the hate and humans. This was a place of freedom.
Even though they were far away from everything they were still blood members of the Circle, and such still had to do their duty. This duty was searching for the baby and separating interspecies relations. As the old ones, they were given time to be with their wives and stay around their area not traveling to places further away.
As James and Leo celebrated the upcoming births and the start of a new beginning. Neither one could foresee that this was the start of the prophecy coming to pass. To James and Leo this was the end to a long drawn-out story. They were wrong, it was only the next chapter of their lives, and this chapter will change everything they came to know. This is where my story begins.”
