- Episode 16: The sorrow of family -
- Elenor Althea -
"Elenor! It's time for dinner." It was a normal day with my family, my father had just come home from hunting and my mother was attending to his wounds before we ate. At that time everything was perfect, i would eat, sleep, learn magic and repeat. It was the only time in my life where I had found peace. My younger self rushed down the stairs to meet with my dad.
He had more wounds than usual, come to think of it. I hadn't questioned it that day, my father was strong and wasn't the type to get injured easily against measly creatures. He had found something stronger then some low-ranking sea creature that day but was hiding it from my mother. He was always nonchalant about these things and I loved that about him.
I had sat myself at the table in a rush that day after my father had been healed. That was the day my healing magic had progressed to around rookie rank, which was incredible for my age. I was so proud of myself for it and so was my father. "So you have been doing well in magic? You make me feel proud. How about i teach you some projection spells?" I became excited over it and accepted the offer and ate my meal so fast I had hiccups for a while afterwards, which my mother had scolded me for.
After dinner my father and I headed out into the back garden of our small home. He showed me how to use mana that I've directed outwards as a lethal weapon. Mana was so dexterous, from a bandage to a lethal weapon, the possibilities were endless and my mind had settled on a dream that day. I dreamt of discovering new ways to use magic, incorporating it into everything I do.
But everything was shattered within the next few hours of that day. My dad was suddenly alerted by mana signatures entering the settlement and he decided to head out to meet with the travellers. My mother was reluctant and decided to stay home with me to continue training my healing. However, I didn't want to train my healing and instead started practising projection spells like my dad had shown me. i lacked something while trying to use the spells and was unable to actually use any of them but the challenge it posed to me was new, i liked it.
I continued to do it for the next 20 minutes of that day until a loud bang sounded from our front door. My mother was quick to respond to the door. Screams lit up the house and I rushed to the back door, to watch from its window that was embedded in it. My father's body was lifeless and laying by our front door, pools of blood spilling from it and staining our wooden floor crimson. My mother had shared a different fate however, three men had crowded her, tearing her clothes off before doing unspeakable things with her body. I couldn't find any strength in my limbs to move, until they killed her as well while using her dead body for pleasure.
My body had become hot and my vision went dark, my body was overflowing with power but after that i don't remember much. I only remember hearing an explosion and waking up to the three men with multiple holes in their bodies and a massive hole in the wall behind them. That day I had a mental scar forced upon me, I vowed to myself to never use destructive magic again. However, that was about to change.
- present day -
I jumped in front of Ryan and used my protective spell to block an attack before condensing my mana into both of my hands and sending it out, it entered the claw through its stream of mana and collected in its core. I then thought back to the day and remembered the feeling of pain and anger I had. Then I released the spell, placing a protective barrier around me and Ryan at the same time. The claw imploded completely and even the ground within a 10 metre radius was completely blown up by the attack.
I released my protective spell and let out a deep sigh of relief. I had broken my promise to myself and forsaken the day of my parents death. not for myself, but for a guy. I understood how I felt towards Ryan now and it made me feel wary and uneasy. I was in love with him, I just didn't want to admit it before. "Hey Ryan. Your not dating anyone are you?" Ryan looked blankly at me. "Well i'm an amnesiac, even if i was i wouldn't remember it." His answer for some reason excited me and I hugged him.
"What are you doing? do you mind healing me instead of hugging me?" I realised I was overstepping my boundaries and stepped back slightly. "My bad." I healed his cuts and he fell asleep from exhaustion and so I was forced to carry him out of the blood sands. I didn't mind the time, I used it to think for myself and even speak to myself. "How should I confess? Is it even worth confessing right now? I guess I've got to figure out when and where too..." I asked multiple other questions to myself before getting back to where we had set up camp.
I set Ryan down and laid down beside him, waiting for him to wake up.
- Ryan Leto -
Everything was black again, I was within another dream. and the woman i had first seen was there too. She was much closer to me this time, her hands were holding up my chin and the beautiful green eyes were looking into mine with passion. I now understood that this was some kind of memory of mine. That's the only way this would make sense. The woman spoke.
"I love you, darling."
