I did it. I finally got bored, and let's be real desperate, enough to download Cupid. I filled in basic information about myself, and took a few photos from my social media, to create my profile. Then it was time to swipe. 

I mindlessly swiped through a sea of all the guys, in a twelve-mile radius, till I ran out of swipes for the day. Join Cupid Premium for Unlimited Swipes! pops up on my phone screen in bright red lettering. I throw my phone down in frustration.

"Ugh, what am I doing with my life?" I say, to myself aloud, flinging myself back onto the bed. "I'm such a loser, I haven't even been on a date since high school."

"HAZEL!" My stepmother, Clara, calls out to me, pulling me from my anguish. "DINNER IS READY!" 

"I'M COMING!" I yell back.

I reluctantly throw on my pajama pants and walk downstairs.

"Nice of you to finally join us," she says, rolling her eyes. I look at my father but he says nothing and continues piling mashed potatoes onto his plate.

 I ignore her comment and sit down next to my stepbrother, Issac. “Surprised she came down from her room at all,” he remarks. 

“Tsk, you're one to talk-”

“Can we just have one dinner in peace please!” My father raises his voice. 

“They started it-” he interrupts me. “Hazel, enough!” 

I don't bother to protest any further, knowing that this conversation wouldn't lead anywhere. 

I pick around at my food for a few minutes, in silence, until a notification pops up on my screen from Cupid, “You have one new match.” 

Unable to contain my excitement, I jump out of my chair and rush back to my bedroom. 

“Hazel aren't you going to'' I slammed my door shut before I could hear the rest.

I jump on my bed and swipe open my phone to see who I matched with on Cupid.

Hm Jason Lee, he's pretty cute. He’s 5 feet 10” inches, has dark brown eyes, jet-black hair, and from his third picture I can tell he's pretty built. And it looks like he's on the lacrosse team, so that would explain it. Well, I have nothing to lose, so I might as well send him a message.
