“OMG, he wants to Facetime already?!” I practically scream after reading his last message. I quickly fix up my bedhead before nervously hitting the call button. The anticipation as the phone rings has my heart almost beating out my chest.
“Hello?” A deep voice pulls me from my thoughts. My eyes focus and I see Jason's deep brown eyes staring back at me. “Hey, what's up?” I say nervously.
“Nothing, just laying in bed, it's nice to see that you're real.” He chuckles.
“You didn't think that I was real?!” I ask.
“Yeah you'd be surprised how many catfish there are out there, you can never be too cautious, especially when you match with someone so beautiful.”
It took me a second to process what he had said. I feel the blood rush to my cheeks, and my face grows bright red. “Oh I had no idea, I've never used a dating app before today,” I say, trying to keep cool.
“Well I'm not surprised, you don't look like you'd have any trouble finding a boyfriend.” He smirks.
“You'd be surprised.”
“If you say so,” he laughs.
“So why are you on Cupid then? You're not too bad on the eyes yourself.” I ask.
“Just trying to get back into dating, I haven't dated anyone for over a year now.”
“Aw im sorry,” I stutter, “Well I mean I'm not sorry that you broke up because then you wouldn't be talking to me, but I'm sorry that you got hurt. You know what I mean? Sorry, that didn't come out right.” I laugh awkwardly.
“I do know what you mean. Why were you on Cupid?”
“I've never really dated much. My friend Sam has been raving about this app and he convinced me to try it out.”
“Working out so far?”
“Well, I did meet this one really cute guy.”
“Really what's he like?” He says flirtatiously.
“Well, he’s handsome, fit, tall, black hair, and loves lacrosse.”
“I think he and I would get along.” He says sarcastically, knowing that I’m just referring to him.
“Absolutely,” I laugh.
We spent the rest of the night on Facetime, before I knew it my eyes grew heavy and I had fallen asleep.
