“It’s been far too long, Little Seashell.” Ursula said as I approached, “So what brings you all the way out here after all these years.”
“I would like to make a deal,” I stated confidently.
Ursula laughed, “Ha Ha Don’t they all,” she smiled, “What is it you want? Tell you Cousin Ursula all about it.”
“I need a bottle of your magic to give to Morgana in exchange for something important.”
“Something important?” Ursula leaned back, looked at me, and laughed more, “Don’t tell me, you’re in love? I’ve seen this countless times. Urgh, it’s written all over your face.” She said as she gestured to her gardens. “Take it from me Seashell, you’re better off without him, than making a deal with me.” She waved her hand as if to shoo me off.
“Please there must be something you want in exchange that I could give to you?!” I pleaded.
“The only thing I want is the Triton!” Ursula snapped, “That power should have been mine! And you little Sea Witch have no means to get that to me.” She then gasped and looked at me wide-eyed, “Or maybe there is something you have I want.” I soon noticed she was staring at Mirror.
“Mirror is off the table,” I stated firmly. She scowled.
“Then no deal,” Ursula stated, “If that is all, leave.”
Mirror then whispered to me, “Jenna it’s all right let the old sea hag take me, go save your pirate prince.”
“No Mirror,” I argued back, “I’m not trading someone’s life for my happiness. That wouldn’t make me any different than . . .” I stopped mid-sentence. “Morgana said you were looking for me when I left all those years ago. Why?”
“Oh, is that what she said?” She looked over her shoulder. “It’s true, though I couldn’t find you. It’s a shame if I had I could have taught you how to use that powerful magic of yours properly. You have been blessed with great magical power. If you wanted, you could have just taken what you wanted back from her. But you’re here, why simple, you have no Idea How to use it properly. All that talent; completely wasted.” She dropped into her chair and sighed. “I thought I could use you to further my goals, but once I got a good look at you, I could your power comes from something more, urgh, wholesome than that of a common Sea Witch. Not that it matters. If you haven’t figured out how to tap into your power, then you are of no use to me.”
“Is that so . . .” I turned my head, looked around, and took note of all the ingredients and potions she had at her disposal. I also noticed Mara swimming about getting a closer look at things herself.
“Now run along, Seashell. There’s nothing for you here.”
I had a plan and Mirror must have noticed “Jenna?”
“I have most of the ingredients,” I muttered as I put Mirror inside My bag. I swam over to Ursula and plucked a single hair. “Argh, What Do Think You’re Doing?!” Ursula screamed.
“Jenna What are You Doing?!” Mirror exclaimed.
I yelled, “Mara! Grab the sea moss and the demon tears!” as I rummaged through my bag for the other ingredients.
“Oh Yay. Some action.” Mara squealed with delight as she stubbled in grabbing some of the ingredients. “Coming right up.”
“Flotsam and Jetsam,” Ursula yelled. She chased after me. Her magical power ran wild, but by the time she tried to attack me, she was too late. I had finished my potion a cloud of smoke rose, and images began to form in the cloud. Oh, this wasn’t the magic bottle spell by the way. There was no way I could complete that before Ursula got the drop on me. That takes a lot of preparation. This was a future sight potion of my own design. This potion allowed one to see how their life ends. I infused my magic to make it much stronger. As images of Ursula’s downfall began to appear her eels cornered Mara. There in the potion smoke was Ursula had the trident. She stared at the image with her eyes wide. “What is this?”
“Your future. I said this potion allows the caster to see how someone’s Life ends.” I started as stilled in Ursula’s grasp. She saw herself self-grow using the triton as she battled a young red-haired mermaid and a dark-haired human boy. And then get impaled by a human ship. The smoke then died down and Ursula’s grip loosened. “But just because you can see the future does not entirely mean you’ll be able to change it.”
“None of my future sight potions have ever been as powerful and clear as this.” She then turned, “But what does this prove exactly?”
“In the book where I found the bottled magic spell there was another powerful spell. A spell that allows one to pull objects or living creatures through time. However, it was incomplete.
“Oh,” Ursula smiled, “It seems you may have something to offer up in exchange for my magic than I originally thought. If you can complete that spell.” Her smile grew wider, “Yes! Yes!” Then snapped her fingers and a magic contract appeared. “In exchange for my magic to save your Loverboy, you will do something for me in exchange. You will complete that second spell and use that powerful magic of yours to save my life and pull me through time and into your future. Preferably at a time these . . .” she motioned disgustedly, “. . . heroes no longer have anything to worry about. That would be the perfect time to make my move and take back what is rightfully mine.”
“And if I don’t succeed?” I asked as I grabbed the quill.
“If you don’t do it, and I truly die in that battle,” She had a sinister look in her eyes as she spoke, “Since by that point my garden will be nonexistent, you will both perish. Turning into sea foam. It’s only fair that your own life is put on the line for a deal that wagers my own.”
I hesitated. “Deal,” I signed the contract.
Ursula laughed and said, “Good then since knowing the future can be dangerous and I could subconsciously hesitate with what choices lead me to that troublesome little mermaid, I will erase the memories of these events from my mind when you leave.” She said heading over to hear shelf for ingredients, Now let’s bottle some magic shall we.”
The two of us made up the potion and bottled up some of Ursula’s magic. Before I left Ursula gave me advice about how to tap into my magic and use it to its full potential. I was going to need it If I wanted to complete that spell. She claimed that my magic was slightly different from a normal Cecaelia, but I didn’t quiet understand what she meant by that. And I had no idea I was going to figure it out so soon upon returning to Morgana.
