When I returned things had gone from bad to worse. War had broken out between the pirates and Morgana. Cannons were being fired and magic was being fired back. Pirates were being turned into fish and Morgana was shouting “Foolish Mortals, You Think You Can Escape Me!?” I watched in shock as the chaos unfolded before me.
“Wow, will ya look at that! Violence in all its glory.” Mara exclaimed enthusiastically.
“Something’s wrong,” I said as I swam to the far end of the boat and peered over the side. The deck was in chaos. The men you were turned into guppies were being scooped up into buckets.
Divine was tied up to the mast shouting “STOP! You are all being fooled. He is tricking you. I am not a traitor, HE IS! Cease Fire!” Despite her yells no one dared to listen. There was a small handful of men tied up along with her shouting the same. Apart from her, there was another crew member aboard the ship shouting orders to attack the sea witch. He was a tall man with a clean shaved face and long black hair pulled tightly back with a red cord. I recognized him from my first day aboard the ship. I never once talked to him, but I remember him standing next to Kai when he reprimanded his men. I’ve seen him talking with Kai numerous times when I was not by his side. He often tried to avoid me whenever we crossed paths, so I never got the chance to learn his name. I had even caught him talking with the twins just before we left for Morgana’s cave.
“Jenna, Watch Out!” Mara yelled, but it was too late. Some of the men had spotted me and dragged me on board. They held me down on deck, they even attempted to hold down my tentacles so I wouldn’t be able to escape.
“Well, well, well, if it isn’t the Little Sea Witch Jenna.” Said the man who had taken over the ship. “Where you plotting to attack us from behind to aid your fellow sea witch.” He smiled sinisterly.
“What?” I exclaimed. “Why would I attack you? I’m here to help save Captain Avery and the others. I’m bound by contract.”
“Lies!” he shouted, “If you were truly bound by a magic contract then why swim off after our captain and his son were both captured? You abandoned us.”
“No, I didn’t. I made another deal with Morgana too-“
“She admits it!” He exclaimed, “You all heard that she made a deal with that other Sea Witch to save her own life.” They all yelled in agreement and cursed at me above the cannon fire.
“What no! That’s not what-”
He leaned down close to my ear, “I’m going to enjoy watching you turn into nothing but sea foam witch.” His words struck me, he knew that I put on the line in the contract. He had planned all of this.
“Why are you doing this?” I asked.
“Think of it as killing multiple birds with one stone,” he said calmly, “I always wanted to become Captain. And I’ve always hated witches.” He stood up, “Tie her to mast.”
They began to pull me up and I laughed. “I have known clue what your name is, but surely you’ve been told that you should never bite off more than you can chew.” I used my tentacles and sent the men who held onto me flying. Some of them even fell overboard. Another I grabbed ahold of and snatched his sword. I pulled myself over onto the railing and then threw the sword straight for the ropes that bound Divine to the mast. She freed herself and the other men. While fighting off the delusional pirates that followed.
“Blue,” she yelled her nickname for me over the chaos, “Go to Morgana and free Kai and the others. It’s the only way to fix this. We’ll take things from here.”
I nodded “Alright, just one second” I dug through my bag and pulled Mirror out while slapping attackers away with my tentacles. “Divine, Catch!” I yelled as I pitched Mirror over to her. She was able to catch him with one hand while fighting off the other pirates with the other. I had to admit Divine was talented with a sword. “Take care of Mirror for me.”
She looked down at him in her hand and smiled. Mirror must have said something because I saw her mouthing something before fore yelling back to me while placing him in her pocket “Will do!”
“I’ll leave things here to you.” I took the other man's sword and cut down one of the lifeboats and dove back into the sea. I dragged the boat behind me and headed for Morgana. Soon the cannon fire had stopped and all I could hear in the distance was the crashing waves and the sound of clashing steel.
Morgana had retreated into her cave probably to collect more magic from her cauldron. “Wow, for a second there I thought you were a goner,” Mara said swimming next to me. “Mara there’s something I need you to do and don’t worry I’m sure you’ll find this fun.”
“oo-ooh, I’m so in. What do you want me to do?”
“Can you distract two sting rays?”
“Leave it to me,” Mara said as she swam straight for the cave and moments later, she was swimming out with both sting rays chasing after her.
“That was fast,” I mumbled to myself as I swam into the cave.
I found Morgana at her cauldron filling it up with more ingredients and spells. Kai had spotted me and yelled my name, “Jenna!” I nodded to him and turned toward my cousin.
“Morgana,” I said making my way over to her. “I have what you asked now let them go.”
She came over to me, “Hand it over.” I pulled the potion out of my bag, and she snatched it from my hands and began to laugh.
“Finally, with this, I’ll be able to best Ursula.”
“Aren’t you forgetting something,” I said angrily.
“Oh, right.” She waved her hand over her cauldron and towards the prison that held them. Kai ran towards me with the others in tow.
“I didn’t turn into bubbles,” I stated as Kai ran to me and wrapped me up in his arms.
“I was so worried,” said with his face buried in my shoulder.
“Aw, what a touching reunion,” Morgana said smugly as she cast a spell towards us. I quickly pushed Kai out of the way. This was an attack spell not a transforming one. I had collapsed due to its impact.
“Jenna!”
“No Kai stay back” I warned him as his father grabbed him and held him back.
Morgana’s crackling laugh filled the cave, “You let your guard down. I said I’d set them free, but I never said I would make it easy.”
I looked over at them and smiled, “I’m fine. The four of you need to go back. Your crew is in the middle of a takeover. You must return to stop it.” I tried to stand as well as I could with having tentacles instead of feet. “Leave Morgana to me.”
“But-” Kai said.
“Kai,” I smiled at him sincerely, “I love you.” It was as if my words stopped time for a moment as he looked at me with eyes slowly widening. “I promise I will get back to you.” I then took the sword I had with me and tossed it over to him. “Now take that, get in the boat and get going.”
“Alright.” He said they ran for the boat and left while I held Morgana back using the remainder of my ice potions.
“It’s just you and me now Morgana.”
“Splendid”
