My name is Helena. What is yours? The girl said telepathically as she looked up at him.
My name is Adam.
Nice to meet you, Adam.
Nice to meet you as well Helena. But what are you doing here? And how come we can talk like this?
A disarming smile formed on her lips, swiftly shifting Adam’s apprehension into a somewhat serene level of acceptance and even happiness to see her. A smile started to bloom on his face, only to be trampled upon by shadows moving in the dark corners of the street below.
"What is that?!" Adam said as he squinted his eyes.
The shadowy figures started to gain a translucent shape. There was at least a dozen of them moving around. Now they began to gradually materialize into view. Small bodies, big heads. Large almond eyes. Gray brownish skin. Aliens!
"Helena, get out of there!" Adam yelled as he pounded the window pane.
Why? She calmly replied to his mind.
"You are surrounded by aliens!" Adam’s fright fully erupted through his vocal chords.
That same instant all of the figures twisted their necks in unison, pointing their big eyes at Adam. He was pushed off by what felt like an invisible wave and just as he was about to hit the ground, his upper torso catapulted off the bed. He was awake.
Breathing heavily, Adam attempted to regain composure.
"It was a nightmare... It was just a nightmare." He repeated to himself like a mantra, slowing down his breathing.
Finally after several minutes he was able to pick himself up from his bed. Still quite shaken, he made his way downstairs and into the kitchen.
"Dad!" Adam yelled out. Still not home.
He packed his lunch, picked up his bag and before he made his way to the door, a small blip pinged on his radar. The glasses. He ran back into the kitchen and grabbed them before leaving for school.
