Adam made his way back home after school. He was surprised that Fabian was not waiting for him, but then again he was a bit relieved as well. He felt like he needed a break to process it all.

"Dad, I am home." Adam announced himself, bit heard nothing back. "That is weird. He is still not back."

Later that night Adam heard a knock on the front door.

"Dad, is that you? Did you forget your keys again?"

Adam was surprised to see that it was not his Dad standing at the front door but another man in military attire. In fact it was the same man he saw leaving Principal Rosa’s office with the girl with big sunglasses and the polka dots scarf yesterday.

"Hello, Adam."

"Hello, Sir. Did something happen to my father?!"

"No, not exactly. And call me Rick."

"Not exactly? What does that mean?"

"It means he is fine, but he can’t come home just yet."

"And when will he be coming home?"

"We don’t know yet. It’s the nature of his current mission. We are not sure exactly when it will be over. The reason he was not able to inform you himself is because it was all very last minute and it is top secret."

"Wow, ok, still. Couldn’t he have sent me a text or something?"

"I am sure he did not have time to do even that. Though he did ask me to watch over you while he is gone." Adam did know about Rick since his father had spoken of him on many occasions and always referred to him as his friend. "And since I am also assigned to watching over someone else, she will be staying with us for a little while as well."

"Wait a minute. So you are saying you will be staying here?"

"Yes, both of us. Come on out now."

The young girl stepped from behind one of the trees in the front lawn to make herself known.

"Helena!"

"Wait, how do you know her name?"

"Hmmm…"

Rick looked back at Helena with a dissatisfied look. "How many times have I told you not to communicate with others without permission?"

"Hold on, it’s not her fault. It was just..."

"What? Did you just hear me talking to her?"

"Hmmm, yeah, how could I not, you just scolded her right in front of me." 

I told you he was different. Helena spoke in both of their minds.

"Wait a minute, you just scolded her with your mind! That's why you are surprised I heard it?!" Adam said. "And did she just speak to both of us telepathically at the same time?"

"I guess it shouldn’t surprise me. You are Henry’s son after all."

"Huh?"

"Nothing. Come on Helena, let's go in."

"Ok." Helena finally spoke via her vocal chords.
