As they made their way in they were both also greeted by Adam’s cat, Sparky. Acting in an unusually unfriendly manner, Sparky began hissing at Helena. And it just got worst by the second. Helena calmly stared at Sparky through her sunglasses, and in a matter of moments Sparky not only stopped hissing, he was now purring as he rubbed himself against her legs.
That felt familiar. Just like how I went from apprehension to acceptance and even happiness in seeing her standing on the street in my nightmare. Adam mused.
"Hehe." Helena giggled.
"Wait, you just heard me thinking that, didn’t you?"
Helena smiled.
"Hey, you better not use any mind tricks on me. I am watching you."
Her smile was gone, replaced by a stern face. Adam's body began to vibrate, and a squishing sensation began to overwhelm him.
"Hey, what are you doing?!"
"Helena! Stop right now!" Rick yelled at her. She looked at him with the same stern face. "Don’t you dare think of doing that to me? Do you want me to tell your parents how you are behaving?"
"Fine." Helena said, pivoting on her heel to make her way into another room.
Adam stopped vibrating and the squishing sensation began to dissipate.
"Sorry about that Adam, Helena is still learning how to conduct herself properly with others."
"How to conduct herself? How about not trying to murder someone. I am pretty sure she could have knocked me out cold!"
"I am really sorry. I guarantee you it won’t happen again."
"You can guarantee it? Are you sure about that? And what won’t happen again exactly? I don’t even know what just happened. Was she using her mind to do that? Did she use her mind to influence Sparky? What sort of powers are these?"
"Lets just say they are unusual powers."
"Well, yeah! Please feel free to elaborate."
