Previously on ‘I peed myself in front of my crush’:
Jade finds herself in a literal mess as she’s attacked with soda from the monstrous Bridget, and expecting the blonde beauty – Paige – to save her, Jade is disappointed when she doesn’t.
Tim, on the other hand, is just the sweetest and greatest friend ever, and he helps Jade verbally as she cleans herself in the girls’ bathroom (that has thin walls).
And then, it rains cats and dogs, and Paige talks to Jade after such a long time (2 days and counting), offering to give our protagonist a ride home. Jade accepts since she can’t say no to Paige, even if Paige wanted Jade to be her bitch.
On their way to Jade’s house, the car stops working, and then the two girls find themselves in a pickle.
Long things short, Jade is angry now that Paige didn’t talk to her or even give her an explanation as to why she didn’t.
Now:
“What the hell is wrong with you!?”
Paige’s eyes opened widely and her mouth flew open as I glared at her, with my breath heavier than before. I could hear the nasal sound in my voice, already feeling the impending sickness. “W-What?”
“You’ve been ignoring me since that kiss in the bathroom, and then you suddenly give me a ride home, but you’re being a total bitch about it!” I had never used the ‘B’ word before because technically that was the word used for a female dog, and was just another way to put down females. I mean, the word ‘dog’ wasn’t used as an insult.
But, honestly, I tried to keep myself from using curse words altogether, but since this time, I was angry and wasn’t ready to be dusted off so easily; I was using curse words.
Paige’s eyes couldn’t have opened more, but they did and I was wondering how. She still looked amazing though. Insert dreamy sigh.
No, Jade, focus on getting answers from her.
“I d-don’t know what y-you’re talking about.” This was my turn to open my eyes big and open my mouth in disbelief. Wow, just wow. Was she gonna do this now?
“You know exactly what I’m talking about!” My voice was getting higher and Paige just looked annoyed at the moment as she turned away from me with a frown. “No, I don’t.” She crossed her arms and stared out of the window.
The rain was falling hard on the windshield but even the noise of the rain drops was unable to slice through this thick silence.
Without even knowing what my body was doing, I had grabbed Paige’s arm and turned her towards myself. Paige’s mouth fell open to protest but I had closed it shut with my own before she was even able to say a single thing.
I had no idea where this courage was coming from as I had my lips against her own, this time moving, and not unaware of what I was doing, like the last time. Paige’s words died in our kiss and I brought my hand up to her face, stroking a cheek as I moved my lips with hers, trying to sync our hearts as well as our lips.
The blonde’s hands went up to my neck and she pulled me closer, which I hadn’t expected at all. But, then again, I hadn’t even imagined kissing Paige ever again, but here I was, feeling her incredibly soft and gentle lips against my own.
A moment later, we were pulling apart from each other, to just catch our breaths which were coming in pants. Paige’s eyes flew open and they found my own as she smiled a small smile even after trying to conceal it for a second. “Why d-did you do that?”
I wanted to coo at her blushing face but refrained from doing so, and simply answered her question. “Because I remember someone kissing me the same way some while back.”
Paige managed to roll her eyes even with blushing cheeks and lips turned upwards.
Now, there was a bit of silence in the car and even when the rain was hitting the car with all of its might, it still couldn’t break the comfortable quiet that surrounded us. “You still know that the car isn’t going to work, right?”
And, the moment was ruined.
Rolling my eyes this time, I turned to Paige with a sarcastic smile, “Yeah, I actually do.”
“So, what are we gonna do about that?” Wow, she’s asking me. “Why don’t we call Caleb, I mean, my house is closer than yours, so…” Trailing off, I watched as Paige nodded and then crossed her arms over her chest whilst looking at me.
“Oh.” I immediately got my phone out of my wet pocket as I blushed profusely with embarrassment while Paige giggled at me. Oh, how much I would embarrass myself over and over again just to hear her giggle. It gave me power.
You sound so deep in love.
Because I am. Insert dreamy sigh.
Dialing Caleb’s number, I listened as it rang for a couple of seconds before I heard the familiar voice of my brother. “No, Jade. I am not coming to pick you up. Ask Paige.”
I rolled my eyes at the first thing that came out of my brother’s mouth after picking up my call. “You dumbass, Paige’s car is stuck in the middle of the road, and it’s raining. I want you to come pick both of us up.”
Paige raised her eyebrow at me, which I tried to ignore. Tried. But, failed.
“What did you do this time?”
“Why do you have to assume that it’s my fault every time something bad happens?” I rolled my eyes while Paige giggled adorably, making me roll my eyes again.
A sigh came from Caleb, and then I heard the screeching of wood against wood before Caleb’s voice came through the phone. “Where are you guys?” Suppressing a satisfied smile, I told him our current location.
Getting an ‘okay’ from Caleb, and then another sigh, I heard the line go dead.
“So, what do we do until he comes to pick us up?” Paige’s voice flowed through the car effortlessly, as I was pushing my phone back into my jeans pocket. My head turned to look at her as a small grin made its way to my face.
“Maybe we could kiss again.” Paige’s face told me all that I needed to know, as it turned a deep shade of red. “No!” Her answer was almost immediate as she shook her head frantically with blushing cheeks.
Why? Did she not like the kiss?
“Uh – okay?”
“It’s not you, I promise.” I nodded as she spoke with multiple hand movements.
Feels like she’s nervous.
Why would she even be nervous? I am the one that can’t kiss right.
As my mind went to different places at the same time, I felt something soft touching my own, which snapped me out of my thoughts immediately. “We could, maybe, just hold hands.” Paige’s voice was low and shy, as her hand intertwined with my own, as the warmth of her hand travelled through my own hand to my body and then to my face, making me blush madly.
“Okay.”
That moment with her made me believe that everything was okay and that, this was exactly how things would stay forever, but you know how life is, and how cruel God has been to me.
Well, bad things for later. Let’s just stay in the good bits of life.
Paige’s hand played with my own as she occasionally rubbed the top of my hand with her thumb, which made my little gay heart squeal with emotions. Or, the way she would clasp our hands together and just watch how they fit.
All the while she was doing these little but significant things, I was busy sighing dreamily while watching her face.
She was very expressive. The way she’d smile with her dimples or the way her brows would crinkle in the middle whenever I’d move a finger. Everything about her was so beautiful and breathtaking.
She made me feel like my heart would explode from happiness, not the bad kind of explosion but a good kind. I don’t even know if there is a good kind of explosion. But, that’s the point. I don’t know if what I’m feeling for her is good or not. I mean, we’ve kissed a total of three times, but I don’t know if she wants to have something with me.
“Paige.”
“Hm?” I smiled a little at her lazy hum, before asking the million-dollar question and probably destroying the little moment we were having for about twelve minutes.
“What are we?” Paige’s head turned to look at me and her hand stopped playing with my own, which I immediately began to miss. “What do you mean?”
Sighing, I let go of her hand, and then cursed myself down inside of my head for doing that in the first place. “I mean, what are we? Are we friends, or more than friends?”
Okay guys, let’s get one thing clear: never ask a potential lover about your relationship when you both are clearly having the time of your lives. Maybe, ask some time later, or better yet, never at all.
Paige took back her hand and leaned back in her seat with a sigh of her own. “I don’t know.”
The mood in the car took a 360 turn for the worst as our silence turned into awkwardness.
I wouldn’t have been able to survive in the car and would’ve just opened the door and ran out of it, if it weren’t for the sudden knocking on my side of the window.
Looking at Paige, I waited for instructions, and when I got a head nod, I rolled down the window. The sound of heavy rain became… well, heavier, and some of it even came into the car.
“Come on!” Caleb’s voice floated into the car as he yelled over the sound of rainfall.
Paige was the first one to get out of the car with her umbrella while I just gathered my bag, and my dignity, and a little bit of my shattered heart, before stepping out of the car and into the rain, with Paige’s answer still resonating in my mind.
My mildly soaked clothes were now back to the way they were before I had gotten into Paige’s car, and I could feel the cold hitting me everywhere.
Caleb had parked his car just in front of Paige’s with its headlights blinking now and then. Paige locked her car before she gave me a glance, which I had returned with a small smile which wasn’t reciprocated.
Well, she’s angry at me, or something else. I couldn’t tell with all the rain falling in my eyes.
“Jeez, Jade! I told you to take an umbrella with you!” Caleb’s warm body couldn’t even warm up my body, as he draped an arm over my shoulder and brought me under his own umbrella.
I didn’t say anything to him, as he guided me to his car.
Paige followed closely behind with her own bag and umbrella.
I got into the car, well, more like fell into the back seat of the car, since Caleb was rushing things. A second later, Paige and Caleb got into the car with Paige sitting in the front with my older brother.
Childishly, I crossed my arms with a pout on my face, at the fact that Caleb made me sit in the back and not in the front.
“Now, how did your car break down all of a sudden?” Caleb asked as he started the car and looked at Paige, before glancing at me, as if I had something to do with her car.
“I have no idea, it was working fine in the morning.”
Caleb just nodded his head before beginning to drive his car out of the area we were in. “Well, at least you both are okay.”
“Yeah.” I mumbled under my breath before slumping against the seat with my soggy bag on my lap, and Paige’s words still swirling in my mind.
If she didn’t know, then who knew.
