I think that both Hal and Elliot are justified in feeling how they do and doing what they’re doing. Hal was unarmed and in public, plus he had to protect Elliot, so he really couldn’t do anything but cut his losses and get the heck out of that situation, especially so because the data on the drive would probably get Hal killed if it were in the wrong hands, plus the rider would still have a gun and still be able to take Ann as a bargaining chip in case they wanted that power
On the other hand Elliot just watched a video of someone having what looked like a seizure, had perhaps the most awkward conversation with Hal ever, had a gun aimed in his direction, saw his sister be taken, and is now with two people he barely knows anything about except that they could both probably kill him with no one to rely on except Hal, and he genuinely has no idea whether or not Ann is even alive. I also wouldn’t be shocked if Elliot realizes within the next few chapters that if Ann dies he can never make things right with her, which is NOT gonna help his mental state.
Elliot is gonna need some serious therapy, and his therapist better not be Dr. Hawk
So will Hal. It’d actually be kinda funny to see Hawk try to be his therapist now that I think about it…
While walking home from school, Elliot discovers a stranger bleeding to death in an alleyway. Unable to look away from someone in need, he decides to help them. Little did he know who exactly he was helping...
