Dear brother,
Thank you for your letter. How kind of you to write to me now that you feel sorry for me. I'm thankful that you found the time amidst all your busywork.
I'm glad to hear your studies are going well. I confess, while you are jealous of my attendance at balls, I find myself jealous of your paperwork. But I suppose the grass is always greener. And you're right, I would have badgered you if you'd skipped your studies without being excused to come home.
I was surprised to hear that Lord Carmine has entered the academy. I think you're wrong however, he seems to me a strong contender for the next duke. But as you said, time will tell.
I'm doing quite well now, brother. You were right that I didn't remember that you dislike balls. I still don't remember. But I've adjusted well despite that, and am enjoying my time at all the balls. When you come back, you'll find me in good health, even with the continued lack of memories. They may never come back, but that's alright.
I'd say that since you aren't able to enjoy the frivolity of balls, I'll try to have double the fun at the next one. But I hear that you'll be back for a couple weeks on winter break by then, so you'll finally get to enjoy a ball again yourself. I hope it lives up to your expectations.
If you find yourself uncertain of who you've asked to dance already, you can always ask me. No one will fault you for helping your poor sister enjoy her evening, and you also won't have to worry over anyone giggling at you. We can help each other feel better that we don't have any particular partner.
Keep studying hard.
Sincerely,
Your sister Millana
