As I've mentioned in the past, Ezra's story before ACG was VERY different. Here's a little bit of that story!
*******************************
"THANK MY GOD YOU'RE AWAKE!" Yelled the cleric. "We gotta GO! The goddess is only after us, the mayor opened a portal for us all to go through to the feywild, I don't know what we happen to us but hopefully Evil McLady will leave the town and maybe follow us there."
Ezra hurt everywhere but understood what the satyr was saying. The other fighters helped him to his feet, and the seven companions made a run for the town hall.
The front door was turned into a portal to the Feywild. Ezra stopped to thank the mayor.
"EZRA THERES NO TIME YOU CAN BE GALLANT LATER"
The group barreled their way through the portal, and crashed onto a gold-laced marble floor.
His friends were groaning around him, tired and hurt from the landing.
"Is everyone alright? Did we all make it?" He asked, still lying on the floor.
A chorus of approvals sounded around him, as well mutterings and murmurs. He finally looked up.
This was the Astrazalinor court room.
They landed in the middle of the crowd.
And the Regent was holding a crown over Calixas head.
Commotion started as the room erupted in fear. Stars, the replacement spirit guard seemed useless, he didn't seem professional enough to protect Calixa.
Calixa! Was it too late? Did he pass? Was the elf sworn in as her new Spirit guard? Was she queen?
"Ezra?"
"Calixa. Hi."
His friends around him awkwardly stood up and started bowing. By the time he could stand up as well, Calixa had thrown her arms around him, maybe too tightly.
"You're shaking" He noticed. "And I thought fae didn't hug?"
"Shut up. You survived, you have returned."
"I mostly survived, but yes I'm back. I missed home. But I'll have to tell you about my Proving someday, imagine a dragon-sized goat and an underwater palace. The goat was certainly the weirdest."
Calixa laughed and let go of him and kissed his forehead. Much more fae-like, it symbolized protection. "Spirit, I relieve you of your duties, effective immediately."
"But I-" the elf started protesting
"I will find you another place on my council. Being my Spirit was never your spot to fill. That is, if Ezra accepts to resume his position."
He rolled his eyes as he heard his friends behind him whisper questions about what that meant. Was he getting married? Was he going to turn into a ghost? Spirit? Fae don't hug?! Awww, reunions are nice.
He loved the dorks dearly.
"I accept, My Lady."
Calixa smiled, took his hands and dragged him to the throne.
"Now I am ready to become queen."
